I've been going to dr mulligan for years but lately I have felt she doesn't put effort or care. I asked for a specific urology test and she forgot to do it. I told her symptoms and she prescribed without fully listening (3 min appointment)and then found out I didn't have what she thought I did after I took an antibiotic I shouldn't have. She told me to get a blood test yet the front desk never got back to me with which lab and a prescription for the blood test. I just can't go back because I don't trust her anymore which is sad. read more

I've been seeing Dr Mulligan for years after being referred to her by a friend. Fantastic bedside manner, patient, calm, willing to answer all of my questions. She's very smart, thorough, and seems to be very well established in the city (able to provide referrals etc). Her office is organized. It's always been easy to schedule an appointment with them and to retrieve records. Overall great experience - I expect to continue seeing her on a regular basis (for annual checkups etc). read more

I had to leave the practice because Dr. Mulligan stopped taking my insurance. I was going to pay out-of-pocket (I hardly ever do this) but she suggested not doing that. She said that if she ordered tests from labs in network, they may not pay since she wasn't in the network. How many doctors are that considerate? I can tell you, not many. She was one of the kindest doctors I've had the pleasure of meeting. I'm a breast cancer survivor and these doctor visits are still anxiety provoking. I don't know anyone who looks forward to going to the gynec or getting a pap smear but she helped to put me at ease. She is not an alarmist. She is very caring, open minded and smart. She gave me great advice. I never had an issue making an appointment or with billing. I paid for my appointment before leaving. I'm pretty critical of doctors (and a have a long list of both doctors and criticisms) but I thought Dr. Mullian was definitely one of the best! read more

I paid the full rate out of pocket for the day of my exam, then I started receiving bills for more than $500 in my mailbox from them. I couldn't be more disappointed with my visit to this doctors office, I feel like they are robbing me blind. It's just not right. I literally have the receipt that I paid for all the services on that day, and if I don't pay the bill I'm receiving in the mail then it will negatively impact my credit. Being forced to pay over $1,000 for a simple pap smear test and blood work. Terrible. I couldn't regret my visit any more than I do. read more

The office location is convenient and close to subways. The office is clean and organized, magazines on the coffee tables and staff busy on the phone. Nothing unusual. Average time for waiting if you have an appointment is 5 mins in the waiting area and about 10 in the dr's exam room. Dr Mulligan seems overbooked and always busy. It's almost as if you are asking her for a favor when you come for an appointment. She tends to ask questions while she's checking you which is extremely uncomfortable, and I'm not talking about checking breasts. As soon as she's done checking you down there she pretty much rushes you out. So you'll spend an average of 2-5 mins with her if you're lucky. I do understand she's busy but this is MY health. I always feel like she does a mediocre job only to justify the charge to my insurance company. I'm pretty certain that she misses signs of patient's illnesses all the time, just because of her 3-5min rule with every patient. I can't wait to find someone new. I would NOT recommend coming here if you care about your health. Although friendly, she's terrible and incompetent. read more

Dr. Mulligan is amazing! Ive been going to her for four years so far. Not only is she great at what she does, but she's a sweetheart. Her appointments are on point, Ive never waited more then 10 minutes to see her (this brings me joy!). Just one "CON" - Her staff! Wowsers, maybe Dr. Mulligan needs to offer "chill pills" to her staff. However, I've learned to adjust to them but they'll def catch you off guard with their "pleasant" customer service skills. Dr Mulligan is a gyno in the West Village - she's great! She's younger(probably late 30's), and is very casual and personable. She explains things slowly, and takes the time to answer your questions without rushing you out. She also isn't afraid to share her own experiences with you, especially if she senses that you are uncomfortable with something(process/diagnosis). I would definitely recommend her! ps. her office is VERY close to the 14th street ACE subway station...couldn't be more convenient! read more

I love Dr.Mulligan. She's an excellent Doctor that remembers everything about you. You can tell she cares and wants the very best plan for you & makes sure you're comfortable. The Staff not so much! I was seen 45 minutes late for my appointment. The front desk didn't put my Chart out. 2 ppl went ahead of me which is what prompted me to say some thing. When the Front Desk Staff brought it to the Office Managers (Barbara) attention so I could go next she brushed it off with a oh well. I brought it to her attention and she lied right to my face! Blamed it a on the Doctor. SMH! I would love to give her 5 Stars but the Staff ruins it. They need better Customer service to say the least. read more

Sherry at the front desk has been kind and helpful, however I have had the misfortune of interacting with Barbara a number of times over the phone and she is incredibly callous and rude. Based on other poor reviews here I believe she is the office manager. Dr. Mulligan rushes you through your appointment, making your questions feel inconvenient and leaving you confused. Coupled with the hefty bills and inflexible office policies, I will be seeking care elsewhere and advise people against coming to this practice unless you have significant disposable income to throw away. Barbara has been dismissive and rude to the extent that I feel significantly unwelcome at this practice. Do not waste your time. I checked with her office. They said they take my insurance I gave them my insurance name. I checked with my insurance she was in network. I take today off, Rush my kid to school rush to the office during morning commute, only to find out they decided not to take my insurance recently AND THEY ARE VERY SORRY! NOBODY called to inform me! Based on my experience, it's not easy to find a good female doctor -- especially one who accepts insurance and is conveniently located -- in NYC. Harder yet is to find a good female doctor who also has a great disposition. As such, I was thrilled when I found Dr. Mulligan. After years of dreading visits to the gynecologist, I now have much less anxiety, due to Dr. Mulligan's down-to-earth personality and professional manner. She just makes you feel at ease, which is a real skill, and she's happy to field questions, rather than rushing through your appointment. I agree with other posts that the admin staff at her office isn't warm and fuzzy (nor is the waiting room decor), but I'm not sure you'll find that anywhere in the city. read more

Gave this a try for several years. Perplexed at the positive reviews, as my experience has been consistently negative or mediocre. Front desk staff ranges from difficult to adamantly not helpful. Lots of attitude given at will. Categorization for visits are unclear and seem to manipulate in order to charge more. The doctor herself is removed and not helpful. Kathleen was the first doctor I ever saw in NYC. To be honest, I was expecting a rushed, impersonal appointment. I was dead wrong. Kathleen has now been my OBGYN for 5 years. She is one of the warmest doctors I have ever encountered. Your time with her is never rushed and you always feel like, yes, you are talking with a friend. Which is a blessing when you are getting deep into an exam. I have recommended her to plenty of friends and they all agree she is fantastic! The receptionist can be really sassy. Don't be put off - Kathleen is worth it! The building is old, but very close to the train! read more

Just to update, I was finally able to reach Dr. Mulligans office. Their phones werent working which I find very irresponsible for a doctors office. Nonetheless I do think she is a great doctor although I will have to find a new one as she wont take the insurance given to me by obama are. read more

When my previous doctor stopped taking my insurance, I felt lost, but thanks to a friend's recommendation, I started seeing Dr. Mulligan and I am happier than I have ever been. She is kind, patient, knowledgeable, caring and makes me feel that I am in the best hands. I also love everyone in the office. Dr. Mulligan calls me personally to make sure I keep up with all appointments and understand all tests. My medical situation is not simple and the office goes the extra mile and then some. I have recommended Dr. Mulligan to two friends, who are also thrilled with Dr. Mulligan's practice and thank me each time they see me. One friend moved two hours away but still travels in to see Dr. Mulligan because she feels so well cared for. Update: When I needed a specialist, Dr. Mulligan recommended one of most highly regarded breast surgeons in New York, and despite that surgeon's full schedule, she stayed late to make time for me immediately, based on her respect for Dr. Mulligan. A bad experience with the doctor was made worse by a hefty bill. When I called to discuss my concerns with the office staff, their response was dismissive at best, rude at worst. The worst experience of my life. I paid $300 for the initial visit. It took several phone calls (most of the times they don't even pick up the phone) to get a referral for a mammogram. I had the mammogram done on April 17th. Today is June 17 and I am still trying to speak to Dr Mulligan about the results. I called and called and at some point they answered the phone and told me they had not received the results. I knew they were lying because I had previously called the imaging lab and confirmed that the results had been faxed. But I contacted the imaging lab again anyway. They faxed Mulligan the results AGAIN. I called back her office and confirmed that they had received the results and that the doctor would soon call me to discuss. That was weeks ago. I called again today and they told me they had never received my mammogram results (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). Do you see a pattern here? The pattern of extreme lack of professionalism and patient care? Will never EVER go there again and will make sure I tell as many women as i can about my experience with them. read more

My previous OBGYN (NY Pelvic Pain) was a complete nightmare. They had an automated call service center as they had multiple offices throughout NYC. It was nearly impossible to ever get through and speak to a live human being. The last straw was when I had an abundance of tests done for a freak incidence where my period lasted for 3+ weeks with no sign of lightening up, which is pretty alarming (thankfully everything turned out ok). NY Pelvic Pain told me they would have the results in a FEW DAYS. No news is usually good news, but being concerned, I called them to confirm 2 weeks later to put my mind at ease. When I finally got someone on the phone they told me my results where not in yet. I was livid and told them to cancel my annual I had pre-scheduled 8 weeks in advance; I'd had other issues with them in the past I won't get into. Someone called me back 5 minutes later and apologized saying they did have my results and they were fine. They are completely unorganized and they ended up charging me a $75 or $100 fee for the appointment they claimed I missed but cancelled 8 weeks in advance. I wasn't refunded until 2 months later as they told me they needed to confirm I cancelled. They admitted the mistake was on their end since they claimed they got a new appointment software and I cancelled on the cusp of when they converted to their new system. Nightmare! Enter Dr. Mulligan's office. I was referred by a friend and apparently 6 of our mutual friends see her as well. I called to make an appointment and a live person immediately picked up the phone. Brownie points already. The doctor was great, personable, and knowledgeable and the front desk staff was fantastic. I got a call from the doctor herself telling me everything came back fine for my annual. What a 180 from the hell hole I came from. The front desk staff told me no news is good news which is pretty standard and fine with me. Perhaps I got a call because I am a new patient?! Either way, I should have changed doctors years ago. If your looking to switch doctors or new to NYC, I highly recommend this place. read more

I was so relieved after having years of bad OB GYN options with my freelancers old insurance plan to have found Dr. Mulligan. Besides being completely professional, friendly and "with it", she is just a cool person. She explains things to you like your sister would matter of fact, informative direct, she listens to concerns and really seems interested...pretty amazing but, then this is how it should be right! Hands down the best gynecologist I've ever had! Ever wonder how it would feel not to completely dread going to the gyno? Look no further! Dr Mulligan is super friendly, competent and thorough, and I've never felt rushed in an appointment. She's happy to answer questions and always calls personally with any test results, even on a weekend. The office is no-frills but clean and well organized with a decent selection of up to date magazines- although I've never had to wait more than about 10 minutes. I've continued to see her even when my insurance changed to one she doesn't accept, just because I just felt that the care was so good. I have been a patient of Dr. Mulligan's for several years. I chose her based on her great reviews here, after my previous gyn retired. All those stars are well-deserved. Of all the doctors I have ever had, she is my favorite. I feel comfortable asking her about even trivial concerns, and she makes even the scarier things- abnormal PAPs, colposcopy, seem not so scary. She always calls personally with test results, which I appreciate. Up until a few years ago, there was a receptionist who was not he nicest, but the woman who's been there the past couple of years is absolutely lovely. Scheduling with them is always quite easy and flexible, and they have accommodated me for last minute appointments if needed. On top of all this, Dr. Mulligan is just an awesome, super cool, all-around smart chick that I love chatting with. read more

Dr. Mulligan is really easy to get along with and is very sharp. She is very in-tune with her patients and answers questions in a manner that anybody can understand. That is a true skill. Based on the reviews here, I was expecting an attentive, knowledgeable doctor to attend to me. What I got was a perfunctory appointment. From being taken into the room to the time I was dressed and walking out took a grand total of 11 minutes. The problem was, I had questions, and the exam was not thorough at all (blood pressure, pap, do you smoke?, do you want to have kids soon? that's it). I told her immediately that my current contraception was running out, and I needed to have it removed and replaced, and that I wanted her suggestion on what she thought would be best for me to do next. She offered me no advice, told me she couldn't remove the contraception I had in place (she would check with the other doctor or refer me to someone), and didn't offer me a prescription for something else, even though I told her explicitly I was not looking to conceive. (Side note, shouldn't you know what procedures the other doctor in your office does??) I had to chase after her to get a prescription for pills - she had the gall to ask me what I wanted (I wanted to say "Hello! I asked you explicitly for your advice, for my particular situation, which you've done NOTHING to attempt to learn about!!"). So she prescribed something I've never heard of, and I need to find another doctor ASAP. I'm so disappointed with this experience. read more
