Sadly I have to agree with many of you. She was competent at first but I had my annual in early December and have followed up multiple times for my test results and Super Bill to submit to insurance. I have received no explanation and no resolution. I have never experienced anything so unprofessional. I went to my annual appt with Dr. Bleyer (I have been seeing Dr. Bleyer for many many years). When I got there, I was informed that she didn't take my new insurance. She gave me the option of keeping the appt but running the risk of paying out of pocket if my insurance denied the claim. That just didn't seem right to me since it was likely going to be denied so I decided to leave. Then Dr Bleyer CHARGED ME for a cancellation fee even though I was there and DID NOT cancel!!! That just left a bad taste in my mouth. She should be more understanding in situations like this. I will never go back even if my insurance changes. I am very disappointed Dr Bleyer. I've been a patient of Dr Bleyer for about 15+ years. She is an accurate diagnostician. She always makes time to talk with you during your visit because she doesn't overbook appointments. Dr. Bleyer is thorough and, when she recommends a specialist, I am never disappointed. She even made time to see a friend of mine from out of town to go over the care she was receiving. I thought doctors were incentivized to see as many patients as possible each day, which is why I usually feel rushed when I'm at the doctor. Somehow, Dr. Bleyer always gives me as much time as I need to ask my questions. She's also exceptionally thorough when conducting an exam and ordering bloodwork. In July, a couple of my labs were out the normal range (A1c, cholesterol), and she had me come back in August to re-take the tests. I'm sure she reviews my chart before she enters the exam room, but I'm always impressed by how she knows more about my health than I do. read more

Dr. Bleyer has been my primary doctor for about a decade. I'm a big fan. One of my favorite aspects of her care is that she doesn't throw a prescription at everything. She has suggested vitamin alternatives and other options with rousing success. I'm able to help friends with what I learn from her. She's thorough in going over general checkups to sick visits and I never feel like she's rushing to see the next patient. So yes, sometimes I wait, but I don't think it's ever been more than an hour. She's more often than not responsive to prescription refill and referral requests. Like any doctor, I find, sometimes I have to follow up. Her office staff is kind and helpful; and I've been happy with almost all her referrals including dermatologists, sinus surgeons, pain management, allergy and asthma and others that don't come to mind right now... I have health issues for sure but feel like a pretty healthy person because of the good doctors I see, including her. read more

She's either apparently amazing, or she'll ghost you. Took all my blood work for my annual, never got back to me on results and took all of these unnecessary tests and billed the shit out of us. Unfortunately we had similar experiences as those with one star. Would not recommend. read more

I really liked Dr Amy Bleyer at first. She was very good at asking questions, great bedside manner and she's very polite, but as soon as I got sick she was clueless on how to treat me. I've never felt so insulted by anyone, especially a physician. At one point, she even told me what I was feeling was "in my head" and to go see a phyciatrist. Not that there's anything wrong with seeing a physiatrist , but if she can not figure out what was wrong with my stomach issues she should recommend sending me to a GI. I also had extreme headache which ended up being a thyroid issue. Trust me she's lovely as a person and great if your not sick, but what's the point if your trusting doctor can not take care of you when you really need them. Never again! read more

Dr. Amy Bleyer is everything you want in a PCP. She's stern yet gentle and caring, doesn't get "over-friendly" but is very genuine, and she really cares about how you feel all around. Since my first visit with her in June 2006, my chronic migraines (which I've had for over 15 years) have been almost 100% cured, and my cholesterol has dropped dramatically. She is also not one to give the quick "easy" diagnoses, instead she in interested in getting to the root of an ailment. Dr Bleyer is efficient and asks the right questions and she makes you feel like she knows what she's doing (she seems like she does) but don't expect any results after the consultation. I've called multiple times for my results and I'm promised a call back or my results sent to me every time but it's 7 months since I've seen her and I haven't received my results. read more

I also experienced some lag in requesting my bloodwork results this spring. I did get them eventually. However, today I left a message to check whether I had a flu shot this year. I have been a patient of Dr. Bleyer's for 5 years and I think she's great. She listens very carefully to everything you have going on and I feel like she cares really deeply for her patients' well being. I initially felt her bedside manner was a little bit off, because she kind of ignores you while she types things into your online chart, and sometimes she would give me a funny look and not express what the look was about... but I often get weird and make dumb jokes at the doctor. I have decided that awkward bedside manner doesn't actually matter because she is a great doctor and it isn't rude or anything. If you're looking for a doctor who will really try to get to the root of any issues you have and who possesses real empathy, then look no further. I think she's fantastic. She and I have really good rapport now. Sometimes I do have to wait for an appointment with her, but generally only if I go at the end of the day. Longest was about 40 minutes, but that's what I expect when I go to an insurance based practice in New York. Dr. Bleyer is great and I recommend her to all of my friends! read more

My husband and I loved her at first. She did an exhaustive amount of blood test work (and she drew the blood herself). She took her time with us, was kind, we were ecstatic! After we got our results from the lab by email, we tried to reach her (hoping to discuss results on phone or make an appointment) and that was when it went downhill. Calling, leaving a message, emailing, NOTHING got a response (At the appointment she had told us that she responds right away to emails!) I have no idea if the disconnect is with Remmy, her assistant, or if the doctor herself, but it was downright bizarre. Her reviews (here and other sites) make me think that maybe she decides which patients she doesn't want, by ignoring them for follow up! That or I've pissed off Remmy! Baffling. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Bleyer 4 months ago. She was very thorough and attentive, and I was happy with the visit. Fast forward 4 months: I never received my lab test results (I assumed they were normal). I needed copies of the tests for another doctor's office. I emailed Dr. Bleyer twice in 2 weeks and received one replay that "Dr. Bleyer got your message." Then, I tried to call 1 month after the first email and was told that "Dr. Bleyer is trying to establish a new practice and it is very hard to keep up with the hundreds of patients who keep calling. So Please have a little patience." I was a bit taken aback by that comment. I have little hope of ever knowing my test results, but I do believe I will be changing physicians. Dr. Bleyer is a great primary care doctor. Her schedule is busy, but she has always been able to see me in a timely manner for sick visits or routine exams. More importantly, she's a smart doctor with great clinical acumen who thinks through your symptoms before reaching a diagnosis. Although I see other specialists for certain conditions, Dr. Bleyer always follows up with how those treatments are going and provides primary care as it ought to be and she's been very caring and compassionate during tough times that I have had. I went to Dr. Bleyer for the first time in August, and in spite of some computer glitches in their system that month, everything else about the office is very well-run and organized. Your records and appointments can be managed online, and Dr. Bleyer is the epitome of a thorough, caring general practicioner. I don't know what happened to dr Bleyer!! I had great attentive service from her when she was with medical hill medical group. When she left the group, I searched for Her online until I found that she opened her own practice. On 6/26/15, My husband and I went for our annual checkups with her. She was the same dr Bleyer that I knew, calm and attentive. However, here's where my story changes. Dr Bleyer went MIA . After a dozen calls ,speaking again and again with her sympathetic receptionists and emailing her, I still haven't received our lab reports and my wellness screening result forms back. Dr. Bleyer has been my physician for about 4 years now and she is the best I have ever had (I'm a 41 year old female) She is a no-nonsense doctor and tells it to you straight but is friendly and compassionate. She generally tales time to speak with me before and after an examination, so I never feel rushed. She also takes time to insure that i understand all procedures and medications and always gives me options. In addition, I travel a lot out of the country and Dr. B has helped me out several times from afar when i've encountered medical emergencies on the road. She is not quick to "medicate" and "prescribe" and I appreciate that. As far as I'm concerned, she is a top notch physician. The office is excellent. Insurance is handled properly as are appointments and she always takes me on time. read more

For example, in the months of November and early December 2007 I left her nearly ten voicemails regarding a specialist whom she had referred to me. I have tried quite a number of doctors under different health insurance programs over the year. Through a recommendation, I came to know Dr. Amy Bleyer. To date, she is the best doctor I have come across. You should have seen how she does a physical - it is the most thorough that I have ever seen. Dr. Bleyer is not an excessive talker. She provides a lot of information and cares a lot about her patients. I am most impressed with her diagnostic skills and her recommendation for specialists whenever I needed one. There is one occassion when I had to call her for an emergency when my wife broke her wrist badly playing tennis. She returned the called promptly and told me what to do. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Bleyer for about 5 years. The first time I saw her I found her on the cold side, not very talkative, and overall a little strange; but I kept going to her because she was convenient and I didn't want to switch at the time and start looking for someone new. When I went to her for things that were bothering me, she usually made the time to squeeze me in and her staff was friendly and accommodating. The reason I am now giving her 1 star, and will be switching doctors, is that I had some tests done. She told me she would call me. That is the last that I heard from her. EVER. I called, and called again. I left messages for her through her secretary. I was told initially she was on vacation and she would call when she got back. No call. I must have called a dozen times up to about 6 weeks after I had the tests. I finally had to go and pick up the results in person. Her secretary was very apologetic, but still gave no reason why Dr. Bleyer never called me. To this day, I have never heard from Dr. Bleyer. If she made a mistake and forgot to call me, I would be fine with that, but to never call or respond to your patient is unacceptable. There is no reason she couldn't have called or even written a small note. read more

Based on one of the positive reviews listed I made an appt with Amy Bleyer. After a year of seeing her every 3 months I finally switched doctors at murray hill medical group. Amy was horrible. Each appt she was 1-1.5 hours late. There was no call to push my appt back any of the times she was late. When I'd call ahead they would not tell me she was running late. This time around I made sure I was her 1st appt of the day. Well, she was 1 hour late..maybe more but I decided to leave and book an appt with a dr. that amy's secretary suggested whom is on time all the time. It seems that even amy's staff knows her as being late. Not once did I hear a sorry for being late ever. On top of that she is very un friendly! She has you sit in her office while she types away not telling me anything as to what is wrong..until she prints out the 5 meds I'll need. Horrible communication. She needs to learn how to smile and speak with her patients. Do not go to her. read more

I have had the same experience as Lynne K. I researched my new doc heavily before coming in to see Dr. Bleyer. I found out via vague google search that she has a dog who has attacked several people in her building, is being sued for it, and still refuses to muzzle him. I thought that seemed questionable, but her reviews were all great, so I went for it. The appointment was wonderful, I never had a doc take such a comprehensive history. I genuinely liked her and was so glad I decided to go with her. I was relieved to have found a new doc that I like and trust! Fast forward six months: I still have no idea what my bloodwork said, and I was going in for a chronic thing that needs to be monitored via blookwork! I think this is insane. read more

I followed up 3 times with her front desk person as well as an email directly to her. Still nothing. However, it has been over 5 week's since my appointment and 3 follow ups with no response or blood work test results. Very poor communication post appointment. I have been a patient of Dr Bleyer for more than 5 years. I find her to be. Smart, caring. And all around excellent. She has handled life threatening situations with compassion. She is a great diagnostician. My partner sees her too. She has helped me with many issues including general mental health I once arrived ill to her office and spiked a fever, started vomiting not making it to the bathroom. She was gracious and concerned telling me not to worry as she rushed to get an ambulance for me. Turns out she diagnosed correctly I had developed a lung clot. She saved my life literally! Dr Bleyer is amazing! I have been going to her for many years and I cannot say enough positive things about her. She is well educated, compassionate, warm and professional. Her bedside manor is immaculate and I have never left her office with any questions or confusion. She take the proper amount of time to explain things and even prints out documents to further explain symptoms and treatments. She asks a lot of questions and really tries to get to the core if something is wrong. She always recommends good specialists and follows up appropriately. Despite others reviews, I have never encountered her being late (in fact she gets annoyed when you are!) and have never waited more than 5-10 minutes in the waiting room or exam room. She never over prescribes and has been open to alternative treatments if she thinks they are worth exploring. Overall I highly recommend Dr Bleyer. She's the best doctor in town! read more

I have been going to Dr Bleyer for over 7 years. I was always very happy with her and decided to go with her to her new practice when she left Murray Hill. Unfortunately, I will no longer be going to Dr. Bleyer after the experience I had this year. I got a physical in January and have been trying to get my test results for over 3 months. She refused to return my calls so I finally went into the office today to demand my medical records and test results. I once again asked to speak to Dr Bleyer but she wouldn't come out. After 2 hours of waiting, the receptionist printed out incomplete medical records and lab results with no information on what they said or her medical opinion. Dr Bleyer left without speaking with me and never gave any explanation. Something has obviously gone very wrong with her new practice and I urge anyone who is reading this NOT to go to this doctor. read more

I had a first visit today with Dr. Bleyer and was thoroughly impressed. Docked 1 star because I had to wait 25 min past my appt time. But otherwise, I found Dr. Bleyer to be very thorough and highly personalized. She spent over 1 hour with me, and I don't have any special concerns that would have merited that, but she took the time after spending about 30 min examining me for a post-exam discussion. She does all of the intake herself instead of leaving it to you on a piece of paper and clipboard. She took tests during my routine physical that I'd never had done like an EKG, and she was very hands on, including doing my bloodwork herself. read more
