I'd been meaning to write a review in the past but this post truly demonstrated who he is as an individual and as a trusted doctor and immediately prompted me to share my experience. I met Dr Pedre many years ago when one of my doctors recommended that my son, who was misdiagnosed by a dermatologist, see Dr Pedre. My son was impressed, and suggested I see him too. This office broke my trust. Imagine showing up to a *brain MRI* but being told your doctor's office has been unreachable for several business days by phone or email, and that you will have to reschedule. This is in addition to your own multiple emails and voicemails. Imagine going through a major neurological health crisis, but not consulting with the doctor who has been your PCP for YEARS in-person once over the course of 5 visits (but who can somehow simultaneously schedule to see your husband for a routine check-up). Getting calls from the office that turn out to be a robo-voice appointment service. And every time you call, getting an automated message that the doctor's wait list is now 4-6 months unless you want a "wellness" consultation (as no one told you that long-term normal patients were being essentially dumped). Then imagine getting promotional emails for the doctor's peppy new Dr. Oz-style celebrity book on gut health. Ridiculous. I feel ignored, belittled, and unimportant. Though the nurse practitioner has been a strong advocate for me, I'm still shocked that a practice once characterized by its personable and thorough approach has deteriorated into dangerous capacity issues that have obliterated its ability to provide real-time responsiveness and global perspective on a patient's care. read more

Do not go here if you have a serious condition. This doctor is trying desperately to become a celebrity instead of a health practitioner. He sells his own branded 28 day gut health cleanse program (which are basically Xymogen products you could get through another practitioner) and left me in a very precarious health situation while I was in crisis. There is a 4-6 month waiting list for new patients and you will almost never be able to reach anyone by phone either. read more

I started to watch his video about fatigue, stomach issues, etc. and when he got to the part of him being a big fan of OPRAH, well I had to shut it off. If he is a fan of Oprah than he is a big of a scammer as she is. He also stated that he isn't going to tell you to stay away from gluten. I got taken on Synbiotic 365. I bought enough to last awhile as the sales pitch entices you to buy more. They went bad before I could use even half of them. The ingredients compacted within the gel cap and left open space around the reduced size ingredients. Expiration dates still out in the future but these supplements have limited shelf life and by now I question if much of anything is true from them. read more

I really did want to like Dr. Pedre but after spending over $1K for an initial visit and a follow up phone consultation, not including lab work and supplements, I could not get him to reply to a question I had regarding a follow up test. I followed his protocol to the letter but never improved. I called, emailed and spoke with his office manager to no avail. Meanwhile, I am inundated with emails for his Happy Gut Cleanse program. He is probably a really good doctor but unfortunately, I think his head is in the retail game. read more

Dr. Pedre is by far the worst and most unprofessional doctor I have ever visited. I am a young, healthy person with no health issues whatsoever. I go to the doctor once a year just to get a full blood workup and to make sure that no issues have arisen. After moving to NYC I needed a new doctor, so I saw Dr. Pedre for my initial visit and everything was great. He appeared knowledgeable and helpful. He drew blood as part of the physical and insisted that I come in to see him again for the results of the blood test rather than the routine phone call. I obliged and came to see him a couple weeks later. During my second visit he mentioned some indicators in my blood test may suggest certain food allergies, as well as a possible infection. He suggested I take another blood test to determine what the issue was, which I naturally agreed to. I was told to call the following week for the results of this test. I called on the Monday that I was requested to call, although I would have preferred they reach out to me just for the sake of convenience. I got no answer, left a message. Called the next day, left a message. Third day I called and got the receptionist who told me that she would tell Dr. Pedre to call me, but I never got a call. I then proceeded to call EVERY DAY for 2 WEEKS straight and never got an answer again. I left a message every single day. Now here I was thinking I possibly have an infection and food allergies, altering my life accordingly, and I could not even get someone on the phone. All the while I am being sent bills from Dr. Pedre as well as his lab. It wasn't until I called my insurance company and told them to stop payment on the bills that Dr. Pedre finally called me back, 3 FULL WEEKS AFTER MY LAST VISIT. He left a message on my voicemail saying "your blood tests came back and you're fine." Very very helpful. This guy is a complete joke. If you want a doctor who is pretending to be some kind of celebrity while running up your bill and not caring about you, then he's your guy. If you want a doctor who is responsible and actually cares about his patients, go elsewhere. read more

While having been a client for almost four years, I have to say that the services being provided out of Dr. Pedre's office at this time have dropped to unacceptably low levels. It is not clear whether it fully corresponds to his moving to a concierge strategy, or his pursuit of a greater business model through enhanced services, but I am withdrawing my support. I don't need to be constantly solicited for supplements, books or IV boosts. Like most people, I need solid medical services. What this situation has evolved into is hype. Going to see your doctor and getting a nurse, or nurse practitioner who is not qualified, or potentially incompetent, is a deal buster. I have been given multiple erroneous BP readings, and finally given the improper dose of a needed medication. That was the end. Unfortunately, he is a good man, but as a doctor, distracted. He is spending far too much time out of the office, and his staff in not capable of being the doctor. This wouldn't fly at a larger practice. read more

I am so happy that I found Dr. Pedre. My doctor had had me on a prescription for life that was very expensive and barely covered by my insurance. Long Version: I have recently left NYC and not that I'm gone I have had the opportunity to reflect on how grateful I am for having had Dr. Pedre as my doctor while I lived in NYC (and will continue while I am abroad!). I've always appreciated his approach and how he really listens to and cares for his patients. I realized how lucky I am to have Dr. Pedre as my doctor after my mom's experience at the doctor yesterday. My mom has significant mold issues in her house (its so bad that even the curtains are covered in mold!) and exhibits many of the symptoms so based on my experience I recommended her to ask her doctor yesterday to order the mold blood testing. Her doctor completely ignored her and told her she has allergies and wouldn't entertain the idea of mold toxicity. Unfortunately I think doctors like this are the norm which is why I am so absolutely lucky that I stumbled upon Dr. Pedre's website back in 2016 otherwise I am sure my mold toxicity would have been left untreated. Dr. Pedre's approach to listen to the patients and ask about their life really helps to identify what is going on. I have to admit I was fooled by the doctor's big smile. I ordered his Symbiotic 365 formula and was immediately welcomed by United Naturals and Dr. Pedre and also sent several additional informational articles. I found out after the first pill I took, that the capsules had rice in them as one of the ingredients. I am highly allergic to rice. I wrote back a nice note to Dr. Pedre via United Naturals expecting at the very least, a reply back saying "We're sorry, this did not work out for you." I heard nothing back and just as fast as I was welcomed right after my purchase, I was immediately cut off from all marketing communication from Dr. Pedre and United Naturals. I was introduced to this dr when I was searching for a good functional medicine dr. My biggest complaint is that the office is very poorly managed. Good luck ever getting someone on the phone as no one answers- ever. They sometimes answer you via email but you have to follow up multiple times until the receptionist finally answers a few days later. The times I've been in the office it felt very tense and when dr Pedre finally saw me, he mentioned he was tired and it was a long day. I didn't feel he was really listening to me. If the office finds a way to create better management and communication (which is essential in any medical office) then I'd give it 3 stars. read more

When my wife and I first started going to Dr. Pedre we were thankful we had FINALLY found a doctor, staff and office environment we liked. It is unfortunate that Dr. Pedre's practice has taken such a nosedive since we first started to see him. It has gotten to the point that no one answers the phone when you call anymore. We have needed to request some paperwork from him for a simple exam to be done, and after trying to get a hold of someone for a week, and emailing and not receiving any response, we finally got someone on the line yesterday after calling back to back more than 10 TIMES!!! The person at the front assured us we would have what we needed by the end of the day. Well, today I have called in excess of 20 TIMES, and once someone actually picked up and hung up immediately. This kind of practice from a doctor's office is just unacceptable and quite frankly, unprofessional. I will continue to try and get what we need as it is time sensitive, but we have already begun our search for a new doctor. Again, we really did like going here, and it is truly a shame that this is what the practice has become. read more

I REALLY wanted to like Dr. Pedre. In fact, I do think he is probably a very good doctor for many people. The office was comfortable, and in the few conversations we had I like his "no unnecessary medicine" philosophy. I went to see him for acupuncture services to relieve tight shoulder muscles and resolve some persistent neck pain & headaches. I've used acupuncture for this in the past with great results after 5-6 visits. However, I noticed almost no difference after the same number of visits to Dr. Pedre. It is possible that my condition is worse than it has been in the past, and that more visits might have been more effective, but I just didn't feel that it was worth my time or money to pursue further visits with this particular practitioner. In addition, although the only services I recieved from him were acupuncture services, he proceeded to bill me for an office visit each and every time I went in. When seeing other doctors, usually I am only billed for an office visit the first time I go in but not for follow up visits, or if I bring up a new issue for them to treat. So not only was he not effective, he also ended up being much pricier than I had planned for (even with insurance covering most of the costs). Maybe he will end up being a great doctor for your particular concern, but as for me, I will continue looking for someone else. read more

I don't like that the front desk does not pick up the phone when you call. Whenever I call, I am directed to his VM. Excellent physician. Great listener, very thorough, and obviously very intelligent. I love the office - it is small, but very soothing and well decorated, and there weren't a ton of patients packed in the waiting room like sardines. I've been seeing Dr. Pedre for the last 2 and a half years for Crohn's disease. Dr. Pedre is an excellent doctor and extremely knowledgeable about what he does. He has made a big difference in the way I view and manage my chronic disease. It is refreshing to see a doctor that takes every complaint seriously. Dr. Pedre always spends a lot of time with me thoroughly going through everything, and as a result he has been able to diagnose problems another doctor might not have picked up.
