This is my dentist office. You must wait months for an appointment for regular cleaning and check up. I have an infection currently and cannot even get an antibiotic. No appointment available, and I am being told "the dentist" will then be off Friday.. So they only have one dentist now? I asked what I could do, and what people do, when a dental emergency comes up and the woman on the phone paused for about 30 seconds because she had no idea what to say. I have been begrudgingly going here for years from absolute necessity as it was the only place my insurance would cover. If you value your teeth, please do not consider the Katsur Dental chain, everytime I have had work done here it was severely messed up. For background, I inherited from my grandmother a high tolerance to any kind of numbing meds so when I need a cavity drilled I need shot multiple times. Many years ago I had fillings put in all of my molars from cavities as a child. One recently cracked. I came in for a cleaning that was required by my insurance, they told me that they need to put a crown on the cracked filling. Looking back after everything I NEVER should have let them. We schedule an appointment to put a crown in, and 2 weeks later I get in. They numb me up and start to drill, I scream. I felt EVERYTHING. They numb me again and wait a few mins. Come back and start drilling, I jerk back, it felt like they were drilling right into an open nerve. They numb me one more time, come back, ask me if I'm good yet. I tell them yeah I can't feel my face should be good. The drill again with th same reaction, to which they tell me that "I'm just being stubborn, and I'm faking this because I don't want the appointment". EXCUSE ME!?! If I didn't want the appointment I wouldn't have come!! They then tell me that if I don't get it together that they will have to ask me to leave. At this point I tell myself that if it hurts I have to just deal with the pain cause my insurance cuts off that Saturday. So that's what we did, they drilled into my face as I white knuckle the arms of the chair. Only to find that THEY WERE DRILLING INTO A LARGE CAVITY UNDER THE FILLING. I get it, they couldn't tell until they drilled through, but looking back was I just being "stubborn"?? They numb me even more and drill out the cavity. Onto the crown installation. Mind you, I still feel almost everything. They drilled out the cavity and fill it back up, then sand the tooth down to a nub, then put a temp crown on that cemented to my other teeth. Apparently when they were getting the cavity out they dug too far, and cut into my tooth nerves causing PERMANENT NERVE DAMAGE. When I told them this they told me the only way to fix this is to do a root canal or pull the tooth. They did a root canal on my sister which they screwed up so bad the tooth died and gave her a BAD jaw infection. So naturally I declined this, I have had this nerve damaged tooth for months as I look for another dentist office because I do not trust them to try to fix this. read more

Got referred here for my daughter. Talked to Kim with scheduling, she scheduled us for 3 months out... the time came for the appointment and she had our information so wrong. She assumed information & a week before the appointment went to verify. So we waited 3 months for nothing! My poor 6 yr old has all her adult teeth coming in & no baby teeth falling out. I was beyond livid& they didn't even try to make it right. She didn't even TRY to schedule anything correctly. She suggested we go to children's hospital. Ridiculous. Waste of time!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE!! We took my Grandson to the Monroeville location today, He is mildly Autistic but super high function. The assistant Leanne is very rude, unpersonable and not good with children at all. She made my grandson feel like he did something wrong, Like he was "Bad" made him feel very uncomfortable. She didn't even introduce herself until my wife asked he to do so and has zero "bedside manners" that a medical professional usually does. They said they were going to use laughing gas and remove the broken tooth. Made my wife leave the room, Then they came out and said that they were referring him to children's because he is not ok with the gas, they made him feel like they couldn't do it because of him, Like he did something wrong. Meanwhile if the assistant would of just introduced herself and talk nicely to him and made him feel comfortable he would have been fine.Im thankful that they referred us to children's as we have never had a bad experience there. We will never go to a Katsur Dental Again. We should have read all the reviews before going, seems like this is typical of them. read more

Went there a few years ago and had a pretty good experience. After my regular appt they had me wait in the chair for a specialist, who took one good look in my mouth and didn't think I really needed his services but volunteered to have staff reach out to my insurance company to see if it would be covered on like a proactive basis. Never heard back what the insurance company decided. Tried to get an appointment last summer but couldn't because they wouldn't take my insurance, even though my insurance provider's website said they did. Okay, stuff happens and websites' info is out of date sometimes. Then the receptionist, thinking she was being helpful I guess, volunteered that my insurance is accepted at all other Katsur branches, just not this one. When I asked, the only explanation was that this branch is very busy. What does that have to do with anything? The office manager was conveniently out of the office until the afternoon. I was going to call back, but decided to find a dental practice that isn't so jerky instead. read more

Never had a problem here. All the assistants are friendly, and any dentist I've seen is gentle, thorough and honest. The wait is never too long. For a regular cleaning, I can be in and out in 30-45 minutes. I've also been a patient at the Greensburg location. It's nice to know there are various offices I can go to. read more

Worst dental practice I ever went to. Besides the assembly type work others have talked about, most of my dental work was done by a hygienist that couldn't give a shot without it hurting for a week and they messed up half my teeth with their shoddy work. It was so bad that my insurance company took money back from them and reimbursed me for every dime I spent there, as I needed to go elsewhere to get the work corrected. DO NOT USE THIS CHAIN. You know it's bad if an insurance company agrees & reimburses your portion of the payments. read more

Avoid this place like the plague, unless you like assembly-line dental work, where ONE dentist rotates between FOUR or more patients at a time, leaving you to sit there and cool your heels until the dentist FINALLY gets back to you. On my last and final visit there, I sat there for an HOUR until the dentist came back to work on me. It was nonsense. I wish I could give ZERO stars!! The Katsur Dental office in Monroeville IS HORRIBLE!!!! I had a checkup and cleaning appointment and when I showed up I had to wait 30 minutes to get called back and THEN they decided to tell me that the hygienist had called off sick and I would only be getting my checkup. They were extremely inconsiderate for not calling to let me know and giving me the option to reschedule. I had got a babysitter for my 10 week old baby because I wasn't sure how long the appointment was going to be and didn't want him fussing during it so there was money wasted. Not a SINGLE EMPLOYEE APOLOGIZED for the inconvenience and just wrote it off like it was a normal occurrence. I decided to give them another chance and I rescheduled my cleaning for 2 weeks later. My appointment was at 11:00 and I showed up at 10:50 and was not acknowledged whatsoever by any of the 4 people that were at the reception desk. By 11:20, 4 people who came in after me had been seen. I asked the front desk if I would be seen soon and they said "yes they should be with you shortly". I waited until 11:50 (AN HOUR SINCE I HAD ARRIVED AND 50 MINUTES PAST MY APPOINTMENT TIME) and still no one had acknowledged that I was still waiting or given me an update so I went to the desk and told them to just cancel my appointment. I WILL NEVER BE GOING BACK TO KATSUR DENTAL AGAIN!! This place is completely unprofessional, inconsiderate and a waste of time and money not once but TWICE!! DO NOT GO TO KATSUR DENTAL!!! read more

This review is for the office staff ONLY. The dental care I experienced here has been exceptional. But the office staff does not have it together. I had an appointment at 5 PM. I got there at 4:45, signed in and sat down. And I waited, and waited and watched other people walk in after me and they were getting called back. I waited some more. Finally at 5:30, I walked up to the counter and said "My appointment was at 5, right?" I thought maybe I had messed up and it wasn't until 5:30 or something. The receptionist looked me up and said "Yeah, did you sign in?" "Yes, I've been sitting here since quarter til 5." "Oh well, you should have said something." That put me over the top. I shouldn't have to say something for you to do your JOB!!!! I looked at the clipboard sign in sheet and my name was highlighted to indicate that SOMEONE knew that I was there. They just didn't tell the woman cleaning my teeth that I was there. The hygienist said she was sorry for not knowing I was there but really no one else apologized for dropping the ball. Also during my very first visit, the dental assistant was complaining to me about her lunch arriving cold as she was taking me in for x-rays. I was thinking that is really not appropriate for you to be telling me 5 minutes after walking through the door. I guess I can deal with the staff there since Dr. Lam, Dr. Alarcon and the hygienists that I've experienced are really good. read more

I wish there was an option to select no stars! My family and I have been going to Katsur in Monroeville for probably 15 years. One of the reasons I selected Katsur was because of the evening appointments for cleanings, check ups and urgent care. Our regular dentist left the practice a few years back and it's been nothing but a hassle with them ever since. My husband called on a Thursday with excruciating tooth pain only to be told they couldn't see him until the following Tuesday! I called them Friday morning pleading for someone to see him. The receptionist said they had no availability but offered to place me on hold while she checked. While on hold I listened to their message over and over again about how caring and compassionate they are and how they have emergency appointments and take walk ins!!! When the receptionist returned, she said "your husband hasn't been seen here in awhile". I Reminded her that we were just there 5 months ago for cleanings! 15 years of patronage and this is how he was treated. She of course confirmed that they had no available time to see him. The soonest he could been seen for a root canal at a non participating endodontist was the following Monday. My husband called them a few hours later to ask if they could call in something for pain to get him through the weekend because by this point he had been taking ibuprofen like tic tacs and they refused!!! He had never once asked for pain medication in 15 years and was treated as if he were some drug seeker! Katsur has seen the last of us and I hope this serves as useful information for others when choosing a dentist! They are horrible! One reviewer references the Assembly line dentistry which is so correct, but fails to mention the sub par dental care and failure to use proper hygiene. I personally have experienced having to ask people to wash hands upon entering the room and handling tools that would go in my mouth. My final straw was the shotty work received on last visit. Have gone here for a number of years and now realize that front desk admins. make the annual visit an irritating experience. Phone calls bump to answering service during normal business hours. No reminder phone call for appointments. Front desk staff seem bothered by questions regarding insurance and/or charges. Dental hygienist very nice and professional. Horrible! Run as fast as you can! I should have known when I was "greeted" by what looked like a crew of renewal center recruits. The jailhouse tattoos covering the arms of the receptionists should have been my first clue that I wasn't about to receive top quality care. None the less, I let these people work on my mouth. On 2 visits, the "dentist" never even looked in my mouth. Apparently he is so good he can diagnose without even looking in someone's mouth. When I finally did get my teeth worked on, I ended up in worse shape than before I started. Also, I had to listen to the hygienists talk about drugs and other illegal activities during my 45 minute wait in the dentist chair. "Dr. " Monti let me wait for 45 minutes and only spent 15 minutes destroying my mouth. It has been 3 months and I still have a gaping tear from the socket to my cheek. My jaw bone is exposed and I can't eat. Plus the tooth I had filled is extremely painful. When I went back to the office because of the infection and exposed bone, dr. Monti stood at the doorway and said that it was probably nothing and to come back in 2 weeks. When I insisted to be checked out after scheduling and paying for an appointment, I was refused. Then I was told by the hygienist to "go fuck myself" and "if you don't like it, go somewhere else..." HOW ARE THESE PEOPLE EVEN STILL IN BUSINESS? I haven't found anyone with something positive to say about Katsur Dental. I was a returning patient at Katsur until yesterday 2/25/2014. There is a specific dentist there that really does not deserve to be a dentist and for that I would not recommend this place to anyone. Dr.Adam's has to be the most unprofessional dentist I have ever met. I went there yesterday to have a cap put over a root canal I had last week. This Dr. Adams persisted that I needed to have an individual x-ray of everyone of my teeth (to ensure they haven't decayed since my last visit a few months ago). And i simply refused to have everyone done but i agreed for him to x-ray what was necessary for him to complete his work for the day. I also stated that I just had a 360 degree x-ray from POS (Pittsburgh oral surgery) this year and if he needed an x-ray of all my teeth they would have it. Mind you i was just getting a cap put on. Instead of listening to the patient like they advertise he got up and said and i quote, "I guess i am not the dentist for you" and he walked out of the room. On his way out he made another comment stating "just let us know when u find a new dentist and we will fax over all of your records." So at this point I was frustrated and got up to ask him why he would not put the cap on the root canal he sent me out to get a week ago and he continued to walk away from me like a little kid and into a room where he shut the door behind him. (basically in my face). After this experience I would not recommend any person go to an establishment that allows dentists like this Dr. Adams to work in their facility. It was completely rude and after all doesn't the customer come first? Apparently not anymore, it only matters how much money they can put into their pockets. read more
