These offices feel cold and impersonal. The technician who saw me was fine, and the dentist was okay, too, but didn't really seem to care about me as a person. Finding a good dentist is hard. No one likes going to the dentist and finding out they have cavities and often the dentist gets blamed for that poor experience. What I appreciate about Chestnut Hills dental is the quality of service. I've had the full range of procedures here from cleanings to crowns. They always do a great job at fitting the appointment into my schedule and my hygienist is super friendly and fun to talk to...at least as much as one can talk while getting your teeth cleaned. Can't comment about prices because it all goes through my insurance and seems reasonable afterwards. Side note...each office is stand alone so don't expect to be able to get service at a different location. read more

I make the road trip all the way from Lawrenceville because I have yet to find a better dental office in the city. I recently had a dental emergency and was in terrible pain. The squirrel hill office told me there was around a two month wait for all emergencies (lol what?) but the Monroeville office was able to get me in the same day. The timing of this office is a blessing and a curse- if you're in a pinch and they don't have time they really won't try to adjust anything to squeeze you in. Because of this, they're usually VERY on time if you actually have an appointment and I've never had to wait ten minutes past my allotted time to be seen. The technicians are very friendly and professional and the dentists act like dentists and not salesmen. read more

This is absolutely the worst dental practice we have ever had experience with. My boyfriend had been fitted for an upper denture and after several weeks of waiting for the appointment, they cancelled on the day of the appointment, because impressions had not come back yet. They told us that it would take 4 more visits to make dentures and with at least four weeks in between each visit, we were looking at 6 months. I called to speak to an office manager 4 times and they were unavailable. They never returned my call. They took mine and the insurance payment for the dentures, and they told the insurance they hadn't received any payment. I urge anyone who has an appointment with this practice to please reconsider. read more

I have never rated a dentist poorly before. Typically, I recommend them to family and friends, but this has been the worst experience that I have ever had with any medical provider. Why? 1. First appointment - Dentist and hygienist spend the entire time arguing above me. Then, unlike every other dentist I've ever been to, I find out that a standard appointment is just a checkup, not a checkup and cleaning. Nope. Two appointments that had to be scheduled (and billed) separately. 2. Second appointment - Hygienist doesn't know how to use her computer system. I coach her through it for much of the appointment. 3. For these appointments, we received notifications that we were overdue on payments. I sent in a panicked check and called my insurance company the next day. CH never submitted a claim to them. A few days later, I got a call asking why I'd sent CH a check. My insurance had paid the bill. 4. This was all a few months ago. I have rated them poorly on other sites, but am doing so now on Yelp because I just got a 6 month reminder from them.... deliberately made to look like a notice of an unpaid bill. Chestnut Hills - a billing nightmare! Just received a past due notice (105 days past due!), with no prior indication of any issue from the folks at Chestnut Hills. Turns out insurance payment was not as expected, not that I got any explanation of why additional funds were due from the office staff at Chestnut Hills, just send money.... Dentist was good, support staff, especially billing staff, a joke. I super did not appreciate the threatening collection letter. When you speak to them about the letter's content, they disclaim any involvement saying it is sent by the St. Louis office. And, what a surprise, there is no contact information for the St Louis office. Just all-around inferior customer service (heads-up Dentists, your office staff is not conducting billing with an eye to timely receipts). Do not use this Dental Practice. They will rob you of every dime you have if you do not have insurance. I had a crown and route canal done with a cost of $1,800.00 and it still is not right after 2 years. They use poor quality dental labs, they charge additional fees that should have been incorporated in the original quote. Strongly advise not to use them!!! read more

OMG! The service from the very 1st call to find out if they took our insurance was above and beyond the most perfect experience! My daughter is 4 and the patience the hygienist had was extraordinary!!! The story she had with EVERY piece of equipment to make her more comfortable was so creative and kept her interest and made her feel like such an important part of her day! Not only was she AMAZING with my daughter, the hygienist informed me detail by detail of procedures/prices of teeth whitening (which i was very interested in) she took the time as if we were the only things that mattered for that given time to explain everything to myself as well as my daughter that has a lot of interest in her field. I left there with such joy and the feeling of "i mattered" (what every patient should feel no matter where you are). My daughter had lots of hugs to pass out to the staff a well!! Coming from a little nugget at a dentist office that says a lot!  I will forever recommend this facilty! Id also like to mention the receptionist was super friendly and told me about the road condition when i called in concerned about my commute there. (Though this may seem like a stupid remark to some, this meant a lot to me. I know how busy offices are but she talked to me workout a rush) the dentist was also very friendly and patient with my kiddo!
