There isn't much to say about a park…read more.. It has some grass to roll around in. It has a playground to bring the kids too (or if your a big kid yourself to play on). It has a baseball field to throw the ball back and forth. I like it here because it's like an open gym but without the membership costs. Practice your pull-ups on the bars, run the stairs a few dozen times and then run up and down the sloping hill to get that heart rate going. The view is pretty spectacular when you just need to get out of your head while breaking a sweat.

It has a rubbery artifical surface which means it doesn't get muddy, and softens trips and falls. The worn-out previous wooden ship playstructure was replaced in Fall 2015. There is a bathroom which is clean, heated and open all year round. As a bonus for those in the diaper way it also has change tables- in both bathrooms. There are lots of benches around the playground so it is easy to sit and keep an eye on the kids. In the Summer, the park is close to cool breezes from the Basin. It is fun to spread out a blanket and watch the ships sailing in and out of Bedford yacht squadron. There is a brick walkway that goes along the waterfront that is great for casual strolls and running. On a clear day you can see all the way to the Narrows. It is kept clear in the Winter so you often see people pushing strollers and older people getting some fresh air.

There is basically nothing blocking your view in the park. Which I'm guessing is a plus when you bring kids to the park to play, a pano view of the surroundings. It's basically a big patch of grass between the ocean and the parking lot. Lots of benches, lots of fantastic views of the basin. It was winter when I stopped in to check this park out, but I think there is a paved path/boardwalk that goes pretty far. It's a great place to walk your dog (on leash) or go for a stroll if you're in Bedford and in the market for that kinda thing.

This is a hidden gem if you have preschool aged kids at home. I only heard about if from the friend…read moreof a friend. It is located in the basement of the Halifax Vineyard Church and can be kind of hard to find, but don't let that put you off. The entrance to the indoor playground is at the back of the church. Look for signs for the Avoda Cafe which is on the side facing Sackville drive. There is no street signage for the Playground. Just a heads up that it is only open limited hours: Wednesdays and Thursdays 9-11am. The cost is a bargain at $2 a child! The Vineyard Church also rents the space for birthdays. Once you enter there at lots of coat hooks and cubbies for boots. There are also tables and chairs for kids and parents where you can eat your own snacks. As a budget conscious and try-to-be health conscious, parent I always like to bring my own snacks. Better than buying the sugary treats you are forced to at some play places (Skip Hop I am looking at you). The play area is an open space that has a track for kids to race around on peddle cars and several play houses for burning off at all winter excess energy. The highlights for my little guy is a huge plastic RV that kids can pretend to hit the road in and large sit-on plane which can take their imaginations to the clouds. For quiet play, there is also a lego section, toy kitchens, play dough and colouring area, a train table, and cute stuffed animal hospital. The place is very clean and there are always staff making sure things are put away and picking up toys that could cause a trip. The only drawbacks are the limited times it is open and that they keep the temperature pretty low in the room. With the bare (in places) concrete floor that can make it really chilly. I think it is run by volunteer members of the church so I can understand why they can't afford 9-5 hours but it be nice to see a few more mornings added. I'd give it a 4.5 stars if I could.

As far as sailing clubs go this one is Topnotch. Although, this is ths only sailing club I have…read moresailed out of thus far. They have great staff, great selection at the bar for post race enjoyment. Weekly races, run by the club, as well as many weekend races. Always very professional, for what we call "beer can racing". They have a wonderful Junior sail program, for the kids, and offer a Learn to Sail every year for Adults, who are looking to get into keel boat sailing. And what a view of St. Margaret's Bay!

My boyfriend Mark, has his annual work Christmas party here every year and so far i've been extremely impressed! There's a massive wrap around deck overlooking the harbour, open bar with extremely accommodating bartender, a tv room for kidlets, and they even allow fireworks to be launched off the beach in front of the club! Beautiful club! I hope i'll have the opportunity to sail here at some point!

Stopped in to the Centennial Arena Skate Sharpening service on Sunday and was a bit surprised, but in a good way. I haven't stopped in a while, but we were heading for the Oval for a skate and my skates were RUSTTTYYYY and not sharpened at all. i called around and most places were either super busy or a bit expensive for the time it takes to sharpen a skate ($10... why??) So I thought, why not stop in here. Firstly, service was great. The guy behind the counter was friendly and talkative, but didn't get distracted from the sharpening. Always good to keep it casual while keeping timeliness in mind. Now for the actual sharpening. Well, the skate sharpening here was a pleasant surprise. Located conveniently at the front door, I didn't have to go searching at all to find them. A nice little heated spot, he was able to get the job done in under 5 minutes and send me on my way. No waiting, no posturing, no anything. In and out. It's hard for me to argue with that! They did a good job, they were sharpened quickly, and they were just what I needed. AND, the real question... HOW MUCH DID IT COST!? Did they gouge me? Nope. At a great price of $5/pair, you just can't get a better deal! You have to pay cash, but it's worth it, without a doubt. Highly recommended if you're tired of waiting in long lines or dropping your skates of hours before they'd be ready, or if you want to pay half the price!

Best way to bond with family or loved ones is to go on this trail, beautiful views from all angles and great trails. Highly recommend being somewhat physically fit to do this trail as there are a lot of steep climbs and rough terrain. The first km of the trail is not so bad if you are just trying to get a feel of the trail. Also would be a great place to camp but it frowned upon because of the dangers it can cause to the wildlife and plants. Also there are bear warnings and moose warnings so come prepared.

Wonderful views, wonderful trails, some areas boardwalked to keep your feet out of the wet bog. I'm looking forward to my next hike.......hope to finally push for the long loop.....I'll let you know how that goes.

Private club for members and guest only allows you to enjoy the beautiful surrounding of the Wag. What this place has in store is what is called the Lido where is normally a chilly 68-70 degree pool equipped with diving boards and slide for the kids. Encased in a great deck you are able to enjoy the sun and then jump right in . A smaller pool is attached for the really little ones that can cool off after playing in the sand. The main pool is heated and will be broken into adult as well as open swims. Two other pools are available but one is mostly reserved for older members. Don't forget the 6 or 8 Tennis courts where you can take lessons or if that is not up your alley there is must more. Sailing, Volleyball as well as Wagg days where the kids are able to enjoy. Now the Wagg would not be what it is if it was not for the great Canteen that they provide to the guest. Fries and Sweet Potato fires with curry dip is a hot thing. There are other things on the menu as well as a little store in the main house for candy and treats. All this does not come cheap between $600-$800 you will be able to have some relaxing fun.

This is a quiet little spot with a great view. I saw the sign when driving along Purcell's Cove Rd…read more and decided on a whim to check it out. You turn down a short court and park on the street. There's a little path the runs alongside someone's property down to the water. The trail then goes along between the water and the private residences until you reach the park itself. I knew none of the history of the area before stopping in here and learned a lot from the interpretive panel. There are no bathrooms here, but I think I remember a bench or picnic table. It's just a small point of land sticking out into the Northwest Arm. If you're uncomfortable knowing that you're walking on what are essentially unmarked graves, this isn't the spot for you! I visited on a sunny day and it was a wonderful spot to sit and read with no one else around. It has great views of the arm and the yacht club.
