I am soooo glad that I hired Mokoi Masonry for several jobs at two homes in the same neighborhood:…read more1) 2-tier retaining rock wall, 2) underground 2-pipe drainage system around 3 sides of a house, 3) vinyl fence and lockable gates, 4) small jobs of patching a hole in a concrete wall and leveling an uneven sidewalk area. Here are my praises about hiring Mokoi at every step of the process: --Estimate and Proposal: Owner Viliami Mokoi came to inspect the work to be done, offered his recommendations from his years of experience, and put the specific descriptions of the work to be done in a written proposal (total of 4 proposals), including details I wanted to add, such as locks on the vinyl gates and installing a mailbox in the wall. I tried to obtain estimates from other contractors, but no one else was willing to do all the work such as removing roots and foliage and running underground pipes on all three sides of the house for the drainage system. --Superb Workmanship: I am still admiring the 2-tiered rock walls that are beautiful and solid (see photo). To install the underground drainage system, the crew had to use heavy equipment to excavate the jungle surrounding the house and haul in gravel to cover the pipes. The area is now clear and spacious with a hidden drainage system ready for heavy rain from hurricane and Kona low storms. Manoa rain and worker shortages caused delays in work, but the crew made up time by working hard and fast when they could. During the whole time, Vili texted to me about the progress of the work and promptly answered my questions. I am very pleased with the final products of the built walls and installed drainage system as well the patched concrete wall and leveled sidewalk. --Five Star Clean-Up: The crew hauled out all the piles of debris from the jobs and even swept up. My wife called for an estimate and they came out the same day. Quoted us a price and told us how long it would take. They showed up and went right to work. Clearing out the old garden and preparing the area for new concrete. In one day the old garden was gone. The next morning they came and cleaned up all the debris, trash and dirt. Upon acceptance, my service date was confirmed. Payment was required prior to the date of service. The truck and two employees arrived a few minutes early and they were ready to go. The job was difficult, but they got it done in 3 hours. They were courteous and efficient. This was my first experience with junk removal services, so I have nothing to compare this experience to, but I must say, I was very impressed with this company and I would call them again if I need their services in the future.

We found out she was unlicensed after we already hired her even though she told us she otherwise…read more We appreciated her work to find us the carpet, vinyl plank flooring and tiles we were looking for, but we didn't appreciate the flooring installers that she used. One guy would show up late and smelling of alcohol from what I'd guess is a previous night of drinking. After he'd show up late in the morning then he'd take a lunch break not long after he'd just got here. That isn't even the worst part. He laid the planks down and it looked beautiful. Unfortunately, the floor made a crinkly plastic sound whenever and wherever we walked. The installer had to ask his uncle about it to get some advice. He had to remove all the flooring and transitions, plastic sheeting and redo it all. He had to sand the flooring to remove any adhesive and it got dust all over EVERYTHING in the kitchen and adjacent rooms. It left a mess. What really pissed us off was when we had the problem with the flooring, Lani told us to take it up directly with the installer. She had washed her hands of the situation at that point. We didn't hire him. We hired Lani. She should have dealt with the problem and made sure it was fixed, not dumped it on us. I've included a photo of the transition pieces the installer used after he had to rip out the first ones to fix the incorrect installation of the floor the first time. It doesn't match. The first transition pieces he brought were a perfect match. We didn't want them back in our house after this fiasco so now we have to live with it as is.

I removed…read morethe existing carpet myself (to cut cost) and her guys installed the vinyl planks that I purchased from Lowe's. Because my children were on vacation in Vegas during the holidays, my availability to get the work done was very limited and Lani was able to squeeze my project in between Christmas and new year. The work area was cleaned very well at completion of the project and they disposed of all the trash and extra material. My children and i are extremely impressed and happy with the end result. When I need to do my living room to match the stairway vinyl I will definitely give Lani a call. Mahalo Lani!
