My husband and I used Kaua'i Island Weddings after doing an online search. We decide to get married in Feb 2025 in mid October so that left us with little time to get everything situated. After the online search and a couple of emails with Hans, we knew this was the way we wanted to go. Hans, helped us with everything. He sent us list of vendors, helped give us ideas for excursions on the island, gave us names of official marriage license representatives, and called us a week before to verify it all. I would like to thank you for making our wedding seamlessly easy and far beyond our expectations. Everyone involved made our day. Our officiant was very special from making us feel at ease, her fluidity and the inflection in her voice filled our hearts. If I could give zero stars I would! Very dissatisfied with the service provided especially by Martina and Hans. We paid our $200 deposit plus add ons totaling in over $1000. Our wedding was scheduled for April 24 th 2024. We cancelled due to family emergency well before 60 days More than 4-5 months in advance and they are unwilling to refund ANY amount even the amount paid for add ons. Kauai Island Weddings delivered our dream wedding and I highly recommend them for other couples looking for a beautiful, simple wedding. My husband and I planned our perfect day with just a few weeks of planning. We knew we wanted a ceremony at the beach, ukulele music, and beautiful photos and Kauai Island Weddings delivered. Most of details were handled in advance on the phone and online, but after our arrival the team was responsive to my calls concerning the rainy weather and potentially rescheduling. We knew in advance of our arrival that the staff were helpful, but it wasn't until we met with the officiant (Todd), photographer and the musician on the beach that we experienced the full warmth and aloha of this team. My husband and I were joined by two of our friends and we were all impressed by how much fun this team made our special day. We got married in Shipwreck beach on Nov 8. We spoke to Hans several times prior to us arriving in Kauai and he answered every question we had as well as emailed various things we had asked about like restaurants, florists etc. Side note it is Covid times so knowing these things ahead of time and making reservations are a must! Hans was extremely helpful in navigating the particulars. The day after we landed in Kauai Hans called us to check in and go over our final check list. Day of the wedding Hans even called to let us know traffic conditions from Lihue, tree trimming on the highway. We had the Hawaiian Traditional wedding with the cliffs photo package. These guys are incredibly unprofessional and correspondence with them is a nightmare. The company's true values came during the COVID-19 pandemic when The Hawaiian Island chain was requiring quarantine for 2 weeks and we had to cancel our wedding. We cannot plan another date with them because no one knows when the pandemic will reside. They would not issue a refund at all. They won't answer our emails or get back to us in a timely fashion. My wife and I were married last December with the help of KIW. We ordered a picture and video package. We had several family members that were unable to attend so we wanted to make sure they were able to see a great video of our wedding. That being said, KIW clearly states on their website, "With our newest, state of the art, HD digital equipment we are sure to capture every second of your dream come true." On the positive side, the photographers and minister were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed working with them. On the negative side. A few weeks after we were married we received the video. The video starts with a Kauai montage that is of very poor quality. It looked like something that was created in the 80s that Mike cut and pastes into the beginning of every video. The entire video was also extremely short. This was not my biggest complaint. When the actual wedding footage finally appeared, it was such low quality it was ridiculous. For example, my wife's bouquet of roses looked like a red blob. You couldn't distinguish any characteristics of it. She was just holding a red blob. Our faces looked like smudges and there was very, very little detail. I went to the KIW website to make sure we didn't miss something but sure enough, they advertise HD and they also display several crystal clear videos. Our video looks nothing like their website. Our video looked low quality even for a VHS tape. This is where it gets even more interesting. I contacted Mike about the quality of the video. I even sent him screen captures and highlighted the very low resolution. I wish I could share them here. I kid you not, Mike's response inferred that I might be color blind and asked me to take an online test to verify whether I was or not. Here is what he said. My comments are in square brackets so as not to confuse Mike's use of parenthesis, BEGIN EMAIL FROM MIKE [very long discussion preceded this regarding video technology] Last point on the red bouquet. On a personal note, everybody sees color differently, no two people see the same shades. On a technical level, color is something I have had to work with for 40 years in Europe and the US. For 20 years (prior to my 18 years in Kauai), I owned a production company working in the movie industry in Hollywood CA. [very lengthy discussion of color edited out] As a quick check here's 2 tests that you can do to compare your color vision to mine (my score below): [links edited out] Thanks in advance. There's another one that's harder that I score 16 out of 100 (lower number is better I'll send that below as well just for fun: Can you get back to me with your numerical score on these color tests so I can see if you see the colors how I see the colors were shooting and editing, below you'll see my score and beware the first test is on a timer, and the second is much harder. END EMAIL FROM MIKE I have to say, at this point I was infuriated beyond belief and was considering legal action. However, if I were to pursue this, what would I get back? The cost of the video? The memory would be forever lost either way. I did take the stupid tests and scored better than Mike did. I shared this information with Mike. After much discussion, that also included Mike blaming the weather that day, I asked Mike for the raw footage. In order to get it, due to the size, I had to send him a 2 TB drive to get this. The total cost to ship was around $100. At least if I received the raw footage, I would be able to edit it myself or pay someone competent to edit it here. A couple weeks went by and Mike sent me back the drive. I hooked it up and guess what I got? The uncompressed version of Mike's lousy wedding video. Not the raw footage, the uncompressed stupid intro and lousy video. I had my company's marketing technology guy look at it. The video had lines through it that made it seem like two parts of a picture were not lined up correctly. My marketing tech guy said the video had bad "fielding" or "interlacing." So at some point, the video was not processed correct and even uncompressed video looked bad (not as bad as the compressed version but still low quality). This is probably what led to the terrible final product. At this point I cannot even describe the sense of anger and loss we feel at not having a quality video (that we paid for). We have never showed it to our family and quite frankly we never will. It just makes me furious that I would be given such a lousy video after advertising "HD quality" and then I would receive the run around from Mike. I really would like to sue KIW but I don't think anything would come of it besides a refund of the money spent for the video. You cannot put a price on the emotional cost of losing the video. I am disgusted with KIW and wish I never heard of them. Buyer beware if you're getting a video through them. The coffee table book is also a sham. The communication for me was great, most things are done online, but they do remind you of the important things that need to be taken care of, like the marriage license. We were just married last Sunday 6/26/16! Mike was enjoyable and knowledgeable on the phone planning our wedding . I had a month to plan and it went very smoothly . Once here on Kauai I was in daily contact with him regarding weather, timing, and letting him know we got the license ok . The only bummer was we didn't get to meet him in person , which I would've liked, but he was battling the flu . I was freaking about unpredictable north shore weather as we were marred on Tunnels Beach. We brought an umbrella and so did they just in case . Found KIW while searching for wedding locations in 2015 and came upon their website and really couldn't believe the pricing so I called them to see if it was really true! Mike called me back right away and gave me so much information, he said I was a bit early for reserving and advised me when I should be sure to make a reservation. I immediately made reservations with them the moment the wedding was a year out. Through the whole process they were always so helpful, they responded to all my emails in a timely manner and as the wedding was approaching they were sure to email me with all the last minute details and a checklist. When we arrived on 10/7/16 Courtney who was our wedding coordinator went through all the details and was sure to have everything to my liking. They helped me have my dream wedding and I am forever grateful to everyone. We did the package that included the stay at their B & B and our stay was amazing. The morning staff Hans & Johannes were always informative on things to do around the island and places to eat and provided us with fresh pineapple & star fruit each morning. It's hard to believe how hard it was to find any reviews on a destination wedding in Kauai. I have been married almost a year, but I do recall being unable to find any reviews of Kauai weddings a year ago. So my review is way past due, but here it is. I picked Kauai Island Weddings mostly because of the pictures on their website and wedding package prices. There were others with much better pictures but a much higher price point. There are some sites with crappy pictures and higher prices too. So this was somewhere in the middle. I chose the Aloha Sunset package at 1195$ and added on the Hawaiian musician for 200$ and my bouquet for another 100$. Mike was very helpful and gave me lots of useful information in the 2 months before the wedding. So now is where my 3 star rating comes in. When we got to Kauai 5 days before our ceremony I played a little phone tag with Mike. He gave me the beaches to scope out for our ceremony and we ended up getting married on the beach right outside where we were staying. Which was Wailua Beach at Kauai Sands. It was just too convenient and pretty. I wanted to get married as late in the day as possible. I'm a student photographer, a bride, and scared of overhead shadows of course! So we set the time at 4 o'clock. I didn't hear from him the rest of the time we were there until a few hours before the ceremony. He tried talking me into making it earlier which I was not having. I was really put off because we had talked quite a bit before heading to Kauai but when I got there every time I spoke to him I had to remind him who we were and when we were getting married. I understand they do a lot of weddings, but every bride wants to feel a little special. Not a big deal but a bit disappointing. Now for my big disappointment. I didn't even lay eyes on Mike (the rev, photographer, wedding coordinator guy) until walking out onto the beach! I mean I was staying right there. It would have been nice for him to come and meet me, give me a few pointers on what to expect, etc. So it made it feel like a Vegas wedding in a way, wham bam thank you m'aam, or a chop shop nail salon! As for the pictures. I did love the coffee table book. They send it to Apple and they make a book out of it, not your typical photo album. The beach is always breezy, except when we went down to get all legal. Not a breeze, it was so hot! I wish he would have moved us into the shade. And being a photographer myself I know that there is a standard way to take portraits and wedding pictures that pretty much works for everyone. I tried to be candid but still aware of how my body was positioned while his assistant snapped away. But in that heat it makes it hard. So a little tweaking would have been nice. They perform a ring ceremony and the picture in my book would be great had he had me position my hands a little different. Instead I look like I have a lobster claw for a hand. Just little picky things like that. You'll see some of the cheesy poses he has everyone do, which I refused. Mostly I am pretty satisfied but I think someone from Kauai Island Weddings should get there and meet with the couple (the bride mostly) before they walk out onto the beach. I hope more couples will start posting reviews about destination weddings in Kauai. There are plenty for Maui but none for this little island. read more

Had a really great experience with them!! Extremely easy to plan everything. They are great at communicating with you. I was called on the day that we arrived on the island and they went over EVERYTHING with me. The officiant and photographer were awesome and very helpful they made it a really fun day!! Got our photos back in only 8 days!! Only problem was with the makeup/hair. She was over an hour late and did the OPPOSITE of what I wanted. I asked for a very natural look and I looked like I was going to a teenage pageant. Had to redo my makeup and do the best I could to fix my hair. Personally wish I would have just done my own hair and makeup. But that is not the planners fault and I don't blame them! Overall had a really great experience and had a very stress-free wedding!! The owner responded and every word is a LIE. First off, we were married in May. Last I checked May is not a winter month. Maybe the owner is not lying. Maybe Kauai Island Weddings is confusing us with another couple that was extremely dissatisfied. That would make sense. Secondly, the owner suggested Lydgate Park. I had never been to Kauai and was open for suggestions. I wanted the best place. He told me it would be Lydgate Park. I naively trusted him. As I said before, tide schedules are easily accessible. He should have checked them and alerted us that there would be HIGH TIDE at the time he suggested we get married. If he would have done that we would have chosen a different time or possibly a different place. I was staying in Poipu. A Poipu beach would have been way easier for everyone. We went to Lydgate because that is what was suggested. Lydgate was a 45 minute drive. There were many other beautiful close beaches we could have gone but I trusted his suggestion. P.S. Lydgate Park is one of the closest beaches to their business. That is convenient. Third, when they suggested that we redo the photos they never said they would be cover the expense. Were they going to pay for my hair and makeup to get redone? No, they never even mentioned that. The owner also said "the trash the bride is referring to is 40 foot drift wood". Kauai Island Weddings is obviously super confused which is evident in their winter wedding comment. The fact remains that there was trash on the beach. It was super embarrassing and I have 20 people to attest to it. They are super amateur. Don't make the same mistake I did. Go with someone that is authentic and cares. read more

We booked our November 2014 wedding in Kauai through Kauai Island weddings and could not be more pleased with every part of our wedding and stay. I called them in September, after my then fiancé and I decided the stress of wedding planning and trying to please everyone wasn't worth ruining our day. I spent nearly an hour on the phone with Mike setting everything up and by the end of our phone call the stress had melted away and I was able to relax and finally look forward to our up coming nuptials! Mike painted the most beautiful picture in my mind (which truly was how our day turned out) and was very knowledgeable about the island, locations, and all of the other options. He had some great advice and feedback and made the decision process extremely easy, while still taking into consideration my thoughts and ideas. We opted for an afternoon wedding at Ship Wreck beach, which ultimately got moved up by a couple hours to allow my in-laws time to get back to the airport for their flight, but they were very helpful and understanding about making the changes. We opted to book our stay at the Kauai Country Inn along with our wedding package and were in awe of the lodging. It is beautifully decorated and very welcoming. Not a detail is over looked. Although it is a short drive up from the coast line, it is worth it as the location is so serene and unforgettable. A rental car is definitely a necessity. The grounds are well maintained and the rooms are clean and well stocked with everything one could want or need while on vacation. We enjoyed our down time there just as much as the rest of our trip. It is also very quite and peaceful; the perfect honey moon retreat. We met with Hans the day we arrived for a brief meeting to confirm all the details of our wedding. We opted for the ukulele player (who was wonderful!) and the added Cliff side extravaganza photo package at Ship Wreck Beach. The toughest decision by far was choosing my flowers, which I was able to do ahead of time thanks to a long list with pictures they had. The options were almost over whelming and they were just as beautiful in real life. Unfortunately plumeria was out of season, but I easily found the perfect orchid bouquet and selected orchid and tuberose leis, which smelled like heaven. The day of the wedding was relaxing and went so smoothly. Everything was taken care of so I was able to spend the morning at the Outrigger spa with my mom while my husband to be enjoyed lunch with his parents. What really made the day was the ceremony itself, of course. We choose the ceremony that was a mix of traditional Hawaiian vows and a Christian ceremony. It truly was one of the most beautiful ceremonies with the Lei exchange, the talk of Aloha, and the vows. I may be biased, but I wasn't the only one that thought so! It really felt special and were words and ideas we could related to and live by. The ceremony was short and sweet, but that didn't detract from the specialness of it. Rev. Todd Fuerte did our ceremony and was great! We had two photographers for the afternoon, one for the ceremony and then two afterwards, as Todd also had a camera. Todd, and I believe it was David, were so much fun to work with and we were both very pleased with the quality and number of pictures we received. They had lots of ideas of poses, some traditional, some not, and the flower petal toss was lots of fun, even though my husband and I were completely uncoordinated! The hike up the cliffs was short, but definitely not something to do in heels. I was very grateful for my flip flops! The view from the tops was incredible and the lighting turned out wonderful, given that we were on the west side of the island. We have lots of pictures to choose from and I now face the task of narrowing down to my favorites for prints and photo albums. Todd and David were both lots of fun and really down to earth guys. We enjoyed working with and visiting with them. Overall, I give our entire experience 5 stars. If you are looking for a well done, stress free experience, this is absolutely the way to do it. Kauai is an incredible place and "heart of the world" truly sums it up. We stayed in Kauai for 5 nights and then spent another 4 in Honolulu and the difference was night and day. Everyone in Kauai is so welcoming and kind, the Kauai Garden Inn included. We were really living on island time there and there were so many great things to do and see. Honolulu was expensive and crowded. We can't wait to go back to Kauai, but I can say we will be passing on Honolulu next time and staying longer in Kauai. I have already recommended Mike and everyone else at Kauai Island weddings to friends. A HUGE Mahalo to everyone there for making our big day truly special and unforgettable. read more

I want to thank Kauai Island Weddings and Courtney McLaughlin in particular for helping to make our 50th anniversary so special. Our vow renewal with our family in attendance was a complete surprise for my wife. The suggestions I received for where to have the ceremony and picking the options were very helpful. Courtney did a great job on getting everyone together and organizing them so my wife wouldn't know who they were until we got close. She then conducted a beautiful ceremony for us. The photographer, Dave, did a great job on capturing the whole event and staging the after-ceremony pictures. Where do we start with a review for Kauai Island Weddings and Kauai Country Inn? My wife and I were married here in November the planning happened 100% with email and phone calls. It was such a pleasure to finally meet the people that would be behind one of the best experiences of our lives. The Kauai Country Inn: we were fortunate to have multiple rooms here on the property and ended up using the bulk of the services provided. The room we had was the Green Rose Suite which was HUGE! It was a great place to gather and entertain our guests, we even had a barbecue. The location is actually very convenient and we were able to get everywhere pretty quickly no matter the day we were heading out on excursions. Hans was the consummate gentleman and made sure that we didn't ever need a thing. He helped us with planning pretty much anything that we wanted to do. The daily breakfast that is provided was perfect and we were even able to blend in some of the fruits from the trees on the property. Be sure to go out and explore the wide variety of good eats the trees provide they work well with adult beverages too!!! Kauai Island Weddings: WOW! We couldn't have had a better team to handle our wedding. Todd was our Officiant, Mike and Courtney was behind the bulk of the wedding planning. Todd did a great job of what we went there to do: get married! We chose traditional Hawaiian vows and truth be told it was different yet beautiful. So, we are married and even with a little sprinkle of rain it was absolutely beautiful. Mike and Courtney were very responsive to the many emails and handful of calls from my lovely Bride and at all turns they provided the answers she needed in order for us to make all of our decisions for our special day. They offer a huge amount of options for flowers, leis and bridal bouquets. Our flower choices were spot on for the color choices we had made. The flowers actually lasted across several days and multiple photo shoots. We also chose to use two boats to deliver myself and the wedding party to the Fern Grotto and a separate one to bring the Bride and mom separately as to keep me from seeing her in her dress until the appropriate time. We had entertainers on the boat that took the wedding party up to the wedding site and everyone loved it. Great music and learned to hula. One unique thing we did was to have our "reception" at the Smith Family Luau the night of our wedding. It was the best thing we could have done, for $78 a head we had unlimited Mai Tais and an amazing full blown buffet to include desserts. We ended up having our first dance here in front of 450 plus people and the next day somewhere on the southwest side of the island a couple told us, "We attended your reception last night." Mike is the one that suggested this to us and some of our best photos on our wedding day came from this amazing 30 acre property. So give it a thought! Photography: Todd, Hans and Dave the drone operator handled our multiple photo shoots and Mike did the editing. These guys just killed it! We were told we were the first couple to ask for the number of photo shoots we did and in the end we have such amazing photos of our memories here in Kauai. Our wedding photos in the Fern Grotto were amazing, photos on the river were spectacular, photos from our beach shoot were stunning and the drone footage of our beach shoot was out of this world. DO NOT contemplate price of these items it is the biggest part of our memories and the video that they shot using the drone was just unbelievable. We got married on June 12th, 2016 (By the way, this day happened to be the Valentine's day in Brazil). We had the most memorable and beautiful wedding at the Shipwrack Beach. Photos taken of us are amazingly beautiful and very creative, professionally taken by Kauai Island Weddings.
