Kaufman Auctions and Realty are by far the "Go To" team for Realty and Estate Sale Auctions. My wife and I contacted several Auction companies to see who to use in selling her mother's home and items she would not be bringing for a move across country. From the beginning James Yoder and his team stood out. One of the challenges for us was we were not local to work thru the contracts and to be there to help our mother if she had questions or needed a little help. James took the time to meet with my mother-in-law and explain the process along with the best options to meet her needs. His calm friendly demeanor and the time he took to explain everything put her at ease for the whole process. Anytime she had questions, he was just a call away. The real estate auction was very successful and netted us the results we needed. I had some concerns about the timing of the closing and a couple other potential issues which were me overthinking things. James took the time to explain what he would do to allay my concerns, all was good. The personal property auction team were also excellent. They efficiently inventoried, photographed and bundled the items in lots that would net good results during the auction. On the day of item pick-up, we were present to see them working with the individuals that had purchased the items. The team had their process down to a science and were very efficient in getting the items ready for the pick-up appointments. After the final real estate closing, we spent the next two days driving across country. A common topic while talking during the ride was how appreciative we were for the Kaufman team and how well they orchestrated the timing of the real estate auction, the property auction, the closings and the property pick-up. The team worked hard to minimize any inconvenience as we prepared to move our mother out of state. In summary, the team at Kaufman Auctions are efficient, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. The North Central West Virginia representative wasted many hours of my time. Several very poor communications, including no-shows. I availed myself as agreed upon, to include a signed agreement. What were supposed to be prior arrangements were not followed through upon. This happened on two occasions. I don't have the time or patience for such disorganized, unprofessional conduct. read more

It's a shame I have to give them one star for wasting a lot of my time. I hear they used to be good, but that's not the experience I had recently. I was passed down to to two junior people - it seems none of them want to work. The first auction agent I spoke with, Andrew Yoder, seemed great. But then when I scheduled a date/time to come from FL to WV to meet with them, Andrew said he was going on vacation, and handed me off at the last minute to Wayne Yoder, who did show up and seemed nice enough, but alas, did nothing. Then I got a call from James Yoder (each time, it's starting from scratch even though I was told, oh, we all work together... yeah, right). He was obviously very inexperienced (and cocky), and by this time, I was very tired of getting the runaround. James told me that he would "price" my 125 acres with free gas at the tax appraisal amount, which was $150,00. This is even though there's a smaller 115 acre parcel (without free gas) on the same road on the market now for $275,00 that he did not know about. (see Zillow - hello?) He was also unaware that the property directly across the street had recently sold for over $500,000. He kept saying he was going to "price" my property - for auction - at $150,000 (?) I said - we want an auction; you don't price my property, the MARKET and high bidder decide the price. You can advise me of what you think it will bring, but you do not price it before an auction (?) He said - that's not how we do it. He would "price" it for auction at $150,000. max (?) The only reason I can think of that an auctioneer would do something like this is if they are trying to rip me off and sell it to a buddy for a cheap price. Needless to say, I dumped them. After this experience of Yoder nepotism, being passed around for weeks and having my auction property "priced" for me in advance way, way too low, I went elsewhere.
