Hope Auction is located, you will have seemingly arrived on another planet, in another time. If you want to avoid the typical tourist traps and experience something like from the movie "Witness", this is a trip you must make. The auction is HELD ONLY ON WEDNESDAY. That probably is a good thing, to avoid being overrun by, what is known to the Amish, as the English (that would be me). This is the place where Amish families come to buy, sell and trade their goods. I have been a few times now and find it utterly fascinating (I think they find me fascinating too) to hear the language, see the dress, horses and buggies.....just the tradition of the auction. Livestock, flowers, vegetables, clothing, kitchenware, tools, weapons, etc.etc. are available for purchase. Lots of things are literally auctioned off, but also you can just buy whatever. You can negotiate anything. The best time to buy food from the local gardens is in late summer or fall, otherwise most of it comes from the grocer. Still, it is cheaper and way much better than you would find at Giant Eagle and Krogers. Bringing a cooler sometimes is a good idea. BTW, it can be really dusty, so don't dress up. Along the way, you can stop in Charm, Ohio and visit both Miller's bakery and Hershburger's Farm. Both good places to buy bake goods. Hershburgers has more options of tasty bites such as popcorn, jams, noodles, honey, syrup, relishes, sausage, cheese, eggs, chocolates and whatever else I can't think of at the moment. There is an animal petting area for the kiddies which includes Big Ben, the biggest darn horse this city girl has ever seen. For real, BIG. Along the winding way, other sites include the longest covered bridge and Killbuck Marsh, wetlands. Oh and if you can't resist, there is always the traditional tourist trap in Berlin. I feel like I must say this......please be respectful of the Amish. They do not like to have their picture taken. Maybe a buggy shot would work instead.

Finally, I received a phone call from the owner on March 11, 2024. He said my stuff would be auctioned off on March 16th. It was auctioned off March 16th and they mailed me a check that I received today (March 20). They supposedly auctioned everything off for $3625. After all of their fees, I got $2110. I'm kind of disappointed because I don't think all the fees were explained adequately. The charge to pick up things was $25 a hour per person plus $250 for fuel/equipment. There were three people so that's $75 times 3 hours + $250. Total should be $475. They charged me $625. There is a $25 landfill charge (which was never brought up on the sheet I signed) but that still would only take it to $500. I clocked them being there about 3 hours, but they might've charged more. Also, I don't see the kitchen hutch anywhere on the inventory sheet they provided me, so I guess I wasn't paid for that. There's also some items on the inventory sheet marked $0. I don't know if that means they did not sell or what. If I had to it over again, I think I would have asked them come to the house first and give me an idea of what they would be interested in taking. Either that or tell them they have to take everything. I don't think all the expenses I had to pay were worth whatever I eventually made nor was the mess they left me to deal with. I wish I would've looked at other auction houses. I think I could've done a little better and had a better experience. If you have the time and you live near the property you're selling from, you're better off selling the contents yourself. Not recommended.

A friend recommended I check out Rogers Flea Market so I figured I would give it a try. Located…read moreabout 1/2 hour south of Youngstown in Rogers, Ohio the flea market is only open on Fridays. I managed to arrive at about 8am, 1/2 hour after the opening. There is extensive parking lots all around the market, I managed to find a spot up front just inside the fence. The day was a bit hazy from Canadian wildfire smoke so it seemed like quite a few vendors decided not to show up, many customers also seemed to have decided to have passed on attending. The flea market is huge, there are lots of open air vendor spots, a couple of covered pavilions and quite a few enclosed buildings. At first I was quite disappointed with the product selection since most of the vendors who set up near the front of the market are selling cheap new products the kinds of things you can find anywhere. I was much more interested when I found the back rows where there were more vintage items and antiques along with a wide variety of almost anything you could want. I check out all of the vendors who were there that day. I did find some items that interested me, mainly wood carvings and related items. Prices were OK, not sensational, but I also didn't find anything that I wanted enough to negotiate to see if I could get a lower price. I did end up buying a cinnamon roll from the Amish bakery in one of the buildings, I also bought some candy and trail mix from the discount candy store in the same building. Overall Rogers Flea Market was not bad, but not worth the drive from Cleveland. Some of that was probably due to it being an off day for vendors and part of it was that I have so much stuff I am mostly looking for indigenous wood masks and I just didn't find any on this trip. I did see plenty of people who had found plenty of things to buy, so your experience could vary. My recommendation would be worth a stop if you are in the area on a Friday, but not really worth a special trip.

From the beginning, I was not clearly informed about key risks, including how auction pricing would be handled or the potential outcomes. During the process, properties were sold at prices significantly below market value, including one property sold for under $10,000 despite prior discussions and comparable values being substantially higher. When I raised concerns immediately and refused to move forward, I was required to pay $4,000 for a "mutual release" under the understanding that this would fully resolve the situation and release all parties. However, after signing and paying, I was later told that I would need to pursue the buyer independently despite having no direct contact with them, as all communication had been handled through their office. Additionally, requests for documentation and clarification have not been fully addressed. This experience has raised serious concerns for me regarding communication, transparency, and handling of the transaction. I strongly recommend that anyone considering working with this company fully understands all terms, risks, and documentation before proceeding.

Most auctioneers are courteous enough to take calls off hours and on weekends, but not Kiko. I called expecting to simply leave a message, but the owner or whoever the man was that answered. I proceeded with the reason for my call and he cut me off telling me that it was after hours and he'd appreciate it if I called during business hours. I have no problem doing so, but don't be an ass about it and if you don't want to take calls, maybe don't use your personal cell phone number or don't pick up and let it go to message...like MOST auctioneers with a good attitude. I wont be giving this auctioneer anymore of my business and caution others to be careful with this rude guy with a matching attitude.

I stopped by their warehouse where I was told to call their office. I filed a lawsuit at the county courthouse. That got their attention along with a proceeds check. Gosh that was fun.
