We recently went to Kaufman Tavern for a company Christmas dinner, and I will absolutely be going back! From the beautiful Christmas decorations to the delicious food, I highly recommend checking this place out. We started off with drinks from their seasonal cocktail menu and had the Crispy Calamari and Crawfish Dip, both were excellent. I ordered the halibut, which was perfectly cooked, and the Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes were roasted to perfection. Several people at our table ordered the steak and said that it was delicious. Our waitress was attentive and friendly and offered great recommendations. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals, and the festive holiday atmosphere was perfect for this time of year!

Always have a great experience here! Servers are always knowledgeable and fast, draft beer list is incredible and includes some local brews, and food is outstanding! Great happy hour in the bar too. If you come in the summer, the outdoor patio is the place to eat - if you can snag a spot!

The espresso rubbed filet mignon won me over. I hate coffee and anything coffee flavored, so ordering that was a big risk, but I was REALLY in the mood for steak. Our waitress convinced me to try it and she wasn't wrong. She also helped me decide to get the white chocolate pumpkin spice martini as a starter. I was in a weird mood that night. I thoroughly enjoyed my shrimp bisque and shared a few appetizers from everyone's plates. I loved the calamari and that crawfish dip. I was here for a big family dinner with friends and not a single person said anything negative about what they ordered all night. Our waitress did a great job keeping up and I wish I wrote her name down so I could give extra kudos to her, but she's getting married soon so if she looks at these reviews, she'll know who she is. I really enjoyed the old timey decor and the fact that this hotel-turned-restaurant is steeped in history. It's a clean and classy time capsule, but also a bit on the loud side (volume-wise). Honestly, the only thing that would've made this whole experience more perfect is if they put French Onion Soup on the menu. And if they laid off the mushrooms. There are too many tasty sounding things with mushrooms on the menu I can't eat. (That's just me being selfish. Sorry.)

We had an absolutely lovely dining experience here with another couple. The food was superb and the service great. The crawfish dip with crispy pita chips was really tasty and satisfying without being too spicy. We loved the pork chop and halibut entrees too. Fantastic meal.

I went to Kaufman Tavern for a bridal shower over the weekend, and I will absolutely be going back to try their menu independently sometime. The event space in which the bridal shower was held was beautiful, from the wainscoting, to the herringbone floors, to the antique mirror over the fireplace. Though our servers weren't the most attentive (we didn't get refills until the main course was served), the food was very well done. The crostini's toppings were fresh and tangy, the salad was fresh, and the rice and corn with the creamy sauce (not pictured) was delicious. The star of the show was the steak. It was perfectly cooked and cut like butter, and the accompanying sauce was a great pairing that didn't take too much away from the steak itself. The potatoes served with the steak were also very good. We had a very simple dessert of vanilla ice cream with pirouette cookies, and it was a lovely way to end our meals. If all the food at KT is this good, you are in for a treat. I definitely want to head back and try more!

This is a gorgeous tavern as the decor is superb. It's currently decorated for the holidays and my friends and I loved it. A group of us went here for and the server was amazing and very personable. I got the fish sandwich with fries and the fish sandwich was large and delicious. I got a sangria to drink and I would order it again, or go there solely for that drink as it was delightful. It was a good vibe and the food was good for all of us in my party. I would recommend this tavern if you are looking for dinner or want to enjoy a drink to end the night.

After church I was hungry so decided to try Kaufman Tavern and so glad I did. I stepped into a lovely historical building with a grand bar and numerous seating areas. I loved the ambiance, pictures, mirrors, wallpaper, etc. The lady bartender greeted me and helped me select my breakfast I chose the full meat omelet, potatoes and bacon. The coffee was delicious! and she kept it filled for me! The meal arrived very quickly and it was HUGE 4 egg omelet -- almost everyone left with a 'to-go' container as the portion sizes are very large. The bacon was crispy and delicious!!! and the omelet was hot and flavorful adn the potatoes wonderfully crisp. I truly enjoyed my breakfast and the atmosphere. I especially loved the old-fashioned toilet - it was clean and spacious. I highly recommend you stop in for breakfast - though the lunch and dinner menu looked enticing as well...

Love sitting at the bar here for late lunch/early dinner after work. Teri the bartender is great. You can taste beers before deciding what you might like, and they have a large rotating selection, including lots of local taps. Their espresso martini is quite yummy. My favorites on the menu are the mushroom Swiss burger, the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, the skirt steak poutine... And their house made soups. But really you can't go wrong with most selections and I've honestly never had a bad meal here and I have been coming ever since they opened (we used to go here when it was the Kaufman House under different owners before there was a fire, and it was closed for a long time). It's housed in a historic building and they kept the renovations true to what the restaurant looked like before there was a kitchen fire. In the summertime, there are usually a few tables out front on the sidewalk and then there is also a back patio. If you go around the corner, you can park in a free lot behind the restaurant, which is nice. Lolev Brewing faces the back lot too.

I love this place! I've never had a bad meal, and their bar area is one of my favorite places to hang out. Not pictured, but the Italian bread and the olive tapenade were fantastic. The briny olive mixed with luscious olive oil made for a great bite. Also, the smoked wings are a must! Buffalo sauce had great heat. The star of the show was my smoked salmon burger. The smoked flavor gave lox vibes, but it was a hearty amount of salmon. The richness was balanced perfectly with the onion and arugula. My side salad was fresh and had a great pop of acid. I must have been craving carbs and ripped a piece of my bun off in the pic... the bun was good and fresh, too! Washed it down with a Merlot. I will be back soon!

One our favorite date spots. The food is always exceptional. Don't pass on the crawfish dip, order extra pita! The salmon is a mainstay for lent season. The staff is attentive and warm. Make sure to stop in if you're near charming Zelienople, you won't regret it!

It's good to have the Kaufman House open again. It's very good to now have ample parking directly behind.

I heard the manager doesn't require the employees to wear masks. Is this true?

I can't speak for what the manager tells the staff. From experience, early in the pandemic (early June) the server we had asked us if we wanted her to keep a mask on or not-she gave us the choice. But by late summer/fall all staff were wearing masks… Read more

Edit to add: a group of five of us stopped in for the brunch buffet on Sunday. We made a reservation as the website states any party of five or more should make one. I was apprehensive due to past experiences of brunch buffets. Usually all the food tastes very similar and lacks seasoning. Not the case here. They had such a wide array of options. We had an extremely picky eater and they left full. The vibe was casual with just a touch of sophistication. Really happy we tried the buffet and will absolutely come again.

The decor of the restaurant gives off an earthy feel with a lot of wood being used and there is a bar in the back. The waitress came over to us shortly after we were seated and told us that their special were 24 wings for $14 which saved you a few dollars off the normal price. Since that sounded good, I decided to split them with one of my fellow dining companions and ordered the spicy BBQ while he ordered the regular BBQ. Within a short amount of time our food was delivered and I was happy to see that the wings were meaty. However, that proved to be the only good thing about the meal. My spicy BBQ sauce tasted mostly of ketchup with a little kick while the regular BBQ ended up tasting like plain ketchup. That left me feeling fairly unsatisfied with my meal. Thankfully that was my only problem as I heard that the other three guys who had eaten the wings had a tough time of it later in the night. It seemed to only be the wings fault though as those that had the hamburgers enjoyed their meals and had no issues. The bottom line for me is that based on my experience I would probably not head back here by choice. However, due to the location of the gold course I imagine that I may be back here again and at that point I will definitely be avoiding the wings.

My sandwich was just blahhh with my fries being the same as my partners. We would have complained, but once our waitress dropped off our food we didn't see her again until she brought the check. No refills, no asking how the meal was..she probably already knew. Let me just say this, if you can't cook a basic burger you have no business cooking anything. It serves wood-fired cuisine that uses locally raised meats, house-made pasta, and seasonal vegetables. Currently, during the winter, examples of menu items are small plates (e.g., roasted beet salad and heirloom carrots), mid courses (e.g., linguine and blue-bay mussels), large plates (e.g., sesame soy-glazed eggplant, pork chop, and picanha), desserts (e.g., pistachio cake and Kahlua fudge brownie), and alcoholic beverages (e.g., cocktails, mocktails, wines, and beers). For my husband and me, I made a reservation for dinner through the Resy website. I chose from options of the dining room, a four-season patio with awnings and heaters, and a chef's counter with a view of the kitchen.
