I have a Porshe 911 which had an airbag light that was constantly on. I took the vehicle to K & M for service and paid approx. $140 to get it fixed, or so I thought. The next day the airbag light was back on and ultimately, they told me to go to Isringhausen to get it fixed. No mention of a credit for the $140, even though I had been a good customer for some time. Isringhausen charged more to initially fix it, but that didn't last very long either. So, Isringhausen had me bring the car back and they did ultimately fix the problem and credited me for the initial service against the final bill. At that time Isringhausen informed me one of the radiator fans wasn't working. I arranged for K & M to fix this as they are closer to my home (I didn't have time for Isringhausen to fix it when I was there). Took it to K & M who said they needed an additional part that will be delivered to their location in a couple days. Given that the front part of the car was taken apart it was decided to leave the car there. Big mistake! I picked up the car and immediately noticed a couple things different. For starters the gas needle was on empty (the gas was at a quarter tank when I left it there), one of the gauges was changed to G Force and the vehicle had 45 more miles on it! Luckily, I made it to the closet gas station, where I called the service desk asking why there is no gas in my car and why did someone drive my car 45 miles. I asked to speak to the owner but was told he wasn't available. I asked for the owner's email but was told by the service advisor all emails go to him, then he forwards them on. I didn't believe that, so I tried to call the owner several times but was always told he wasn't available. I asked the service advisor why there were 45 more miles on my car and he informed me they have to drive the car to make sure the repair was successful. I began to wonder if I was speaking to the individual who took my Porsche on a joy ride. I left several messages for the owner but never heard back. I take no joy in writing this review, but people need to know this happened. read more

I took my Honda Ridgeline here for a timing belt repair with valve adjustment. It took over 3 weeks and cost over $2800. They were generally clueless in doing this repair and made various excuses as to why is wasn't done. When I finally got the vehicle back, it had a check engine light after 2 blocks and they were gone for the night. They had to pick it up from my work place. They still couldn't figure out what was wrong. They ended up replacing a cam shaft sensor which I think they damaged while adjusting the valves. I would not recommend these idiots to anyone!!! The shame is that the original owner sold the shop to a greedy ass nit com poop. With the good owner gone, half the employees left too. I know because I had this shop do other work, about 2 years earlier, and it was fine. read more

Brought our BMW in they missed a bad lower ball joint on passenger side with the diagnostics. Said nothing was wrong with all the codes going off but came up with brakes and rotors and a bunch of other stuff totally over $ 2,000.00! My husband had a gut feeling something wasn't right. We took it to a place in Pekin and they found the bad ball joint. The price tag to fix? 264.00. My husband called this business to complain and get money back for diagnostic but they were really, really rude and refused. DO NOT GO HERE!! I took my car in for a fairly large service (timing belt change). They were pretty flexible with the time, gave me a ride to and from work, and did what they promised in the time they said. It was an expensive job, but calculating their hourly rate, they beat Autohaus of Peoria by 25%. It was pretty much what I expected from a car service. I'll definitely keep these guys in mind next time something I can't handle comes up. EDIT: I've come back for another issue (hard to diagnose CEL). Again, the service was good, the work was done well, and the price was fair. I felt like they had my car for a long time compared to the work that they did (they had the car for two days, but only charged me for three hours of labor), which I wasn't that happy about, especially since it meant bumming a ride home from work and bicycling the next day. I'm still going to do the routine stuff on my own, but I feel like these guys are going to be my go-to if something weird or complicated comes up. read more

Robbie, Jeff, and the rest of the shop are the very best at servicing Import vehicles. Their mechanics not only specialize in certain Makes(Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, VW, etc.) which means they really know the vehicles, but they have also worked here a long time in many cases. In my opinion, they're way better that what you'd get at a dealership. By that I mean these guys are affordable and actually get your vehicle repaired and running great. Thanks Again! Terrible customer relations I was quoted a price for work their invoice was 3 times as much. I questioned the bill Gentleman comes out from a door says simply billis valid then starts pointing finger at my chest and shouting about it must be my fault. Starts in on how much it costs to have diagnostic equipment. Well good for him he chased away a potentially long term client. I was so disappointed all he could do was raise his voice to justify the 3x multiple of my bill. Robbie ( unfortunately is no longer there) was my point of contact and quoted the price. The people behind him were absolutely despicable as to communication and customer relations. Good news is I can vote with my pocket book I'll never darken this shop's doorway. read more

Unfortunately, I can only recommend Kauth & Mayeur as a last-resort option. I drive a Mini Cooper, and this is the only place in Peoria that can accept them. Thusly, I've had multiple accounts with their service. This has been my general experience. They (specifically Robbie) are VERY friendly and personable on the phone, and in person. However, this seems to be more of a front to create short-term customer satisfaction, i.e. get someone off the phone quicker. He tends to make claims and promises that don't quite add up. There were multiple occasions on which I was told when I could expect parts to be in, when to get a call so I could drop off my car. Calls never came. So when I would follow up (three weeks later), I get the "oh yeah, looks like they should be here next Tuesday". So what you're saying is, you never ordered them. This happened on three separate occasions. When the work did get done, I was happy with it, no issues. But to have to hound a shop to give them your business...gets quite frustrating. read more

I took my BMW 740 in the first of November 2015. It appeared at first they were slow with business. Doug had me drop my car. My car went in for a couple of reasons. First was a squeeky pully which they told me was the power steering pump. This is 2 different parts connected. I inquired about pricing for a p/s pump. I was quoted $600.00 plus labor. The second reason for my car being "garaged" was smoking on startup. I told Doug what I thought could be the problem and was given a condescending reply. I was told they would run a diagnostic scan. They came back telling me it was a T-stat fault and I needed a T stat. Note:this car was NOT over heating. Started and ran great prior to dropping it off. So another $211.00 labor plus $100 for the part. After Doug told me the smoking was oil from the timing cover and valve cover gaskets, I got a quote. K & M had my car for three weeks. Doug told me 2 different times when I called to check on it that he was shorthanded with mechincs. The day after Thanksgiving Doug returned my car to me after rushing it through the 25 and 27 after the holiday. Upon receipt of my car and paying Doug in full $1598.00 plus parts I bought out of my pocket totaled over $2,000.00 tells me there was oil in the spark plug wells(which is under the valve covers) and the wrencher cleaned it up. In addition said the "jet Valve was broken and they replaced it(without my consent). My car was misfiring and when I tried to drive it on Saturday it barely ran, idling very rough with misfiring. The timing was aparrently screwed up while the guy worked in this timing cover area. Sunday it got really bad idle and misfiring. Monday I called them and Doug again tells me to drop the car back to them on Wednesday. I told him I would not leave it again long term. He said to bring it early Thurs. AM. The car acted like total shit! I decided to change the spark plugs with another mechanic. During this plug change I noticed there was still oil in the plug well. I got to the #1 plug only to see that it was not even screwed into the plug well. Again this is the location the wrencher was working. My car in January still is undrivable after K & M had it. I did not take it back to them after notifying them to just get slapped with even more repair fees. I will file a complaint to the Illinois Attorney generals office for fraudulant practice from a merchant. read more

They heard a tire pressure sensor rattling around inside one of the tires and recommended that all of the sensors get checked to make sure they were all mounted properly. I accepted. Few days after the service, the TPS monitoring system alerted me that all of the tire pressures were low, which they weren't - the sensors were just causing a false alarm. I re-calibrated the sensors and it happened again few days later. K&M took another look at the car and gave it back to me. (They just re-calibrated the sensors again which I told them I already did. They just assumed I did it wrong.) The problem reoccurred, so they took it in for a couple days which involved them re-calibrating the sensors again and driving it around to see if it would reoccur. It didn't, so they charged me (!) and gave it back. It reoccurred shortly after I got it back. I googled it and fixed it in 15 minutes. I'm disappointed because I expected them to know more than that due to their high prices and reputation. But I won't be back mostly because the double charging. There was no reason for that. read more
