I showed up for my 12pm tour and was told by the guide's room mate that the guide was out of town and he didn't understand why an appointment would've been booked. Frankly, I don't understand it either. I have reached out to get my $45 back. I felt that this may have been a scam, and I'm pretty sure it is since everyone else's reviews had them meeting up at other places while the confirmation I received said to meet up at the address provided, which is literally someone's house. Sorry for busting in your weekend, room mate. But I definitely want a refund since I was able to book and pay for a tour that wasn't going to happen due to the tour guide being "out of town".

Temptation Island is the third island south of the Oleta River State Park boat ramp and is a part…read moreof Oleta River State Park. The approximate GPS coordinates for it are 25 degrees 53.5N 80 degrees 8.5W. It's also located just west of Intracoastal Marker #12 and it's the last island south of Haulover Inlet before you reach the bridge. It's just a little island as in really being very small. To get to it, you'll need a boat and though a well-known favorite of locals generally overlooked and unknown to tourists. And, oddly enough, the Oleta Park web site seems to make no particular mention of it. When you arrive at Temptation Island you'll find a rather picturesque bay that might make you think it's actually Gilligan's Island, but it's not. The beach area is rather rocky so wearing water shoes or sandals is a good idea. One of the things that makes Temptation an outstanding place for boaters is that the water close to shore has a drop off and goes really deep so if your boat draws a 6 foot draft, not a problem. The best way handle your mooring is to drop a bow anchor then back in toward the island. Then when you are at your preferred distance run a long rope off your aft upon shore securing it to a tree. As it is small and a local favorite, space for mooring is quickly taken. Hence there may be no room for you as spaces are taken rather early by groups that enjoy rafting together on the weekends. I've rafter here several times over the years with the likes of SSA Boating, Out Boating and Boys With Boats. Everyone has always had fun at the raftings and have thoroughly enjoy the beauty of Temptation Island. As little islands, or what Jimmy Buffet might best describe as a "little piece of salty sand" go along the Intracoastal, Temptation is a Five Star.

Hidden gem alert…read more Whiskey Creek Hideout has quickly become one of my favorite places to bring my son. It's such a beautiful little escape and the perfect spot for a family day out. For only $6 per car, you can enjoy the creek, walk over to the beach, rent kayaks/paddleboards, grab food, drinks, and the most addicting slushies! I was definitely nervous the first time coming here alone with my son, but now I feel like a regular and it's become one of those places I genuinely love making memories at. The area is clean, relaxing, and the sweetest lady running the food stand makes the experience even better. A true South Florida hidden gem that I hope becomes a staple in my son's childhood.

Everything was smooth from the time I arrived 7am to going out and coming back without issue Had lunch about 1/2 mile down at Capone's if that's what it's still called and truly relaxed my day way ... The have protocols in place for safety and if your feeling they move to slow ... no they don't there are proper ways of getting things done.... If you're on a time crunch then kayaking is not it, go for a trail walk or sit at the beach or bike ride but don't kayak, that's the waters way of telling you to slow down. I was able to take my time, relax, and actually enjoy being out in nature without feeling rushed. I explored the lakeside, mud flats, and part of the South Trail, and the views from the tower were excellent. I also saw a few different bird species and some butterflies along the way. There's also an exhibit showing a model for a new aquarium that's supposed to open in 2028, which was interesting to see. As a longtime Hollywood resident, I can't believe this was my first visit but it definitely won't be my last.

The kayak trip was epic. We crossed a straits to a deserted spot, with had a tire swing. We had lunch in the woods and hung out. Afterwards, we came across a secret waterway, that lead through a scenic mangroves tunel. Perfect experience and highly recommended if you aren't an expert kayaker or kayak very often, which is the case for us.
