This is the local homegrown mechanic shop. I have brought a lot of my vehicles there over the years and Kaz has tackled everything from tires to window motors to radiators to transmissions. It's nice to have someone you know who knows how to do just about everything! From my customer Ford van, Chysler Sebring, Jeep Patriot to my honey's Mazda Miata & #1 Son's Datsun 280z Kaz and his guys nail it. I have been doing business with them for decades. They once saved me $1000, so they have my business as long as I live. Auto repair is a high trust business, your car goes back and a tech says you this this and that, how do you know? I sent a woman I worked with to them to get her brakes checked, they told her they were ok to come back in 30K miles. They could have sold her a complete brake job, rotors, pads, etc but did not. read more

My car had a wire that a rat ate through and I took my car to Kaz's and he said the coils were bad. I later had to get a coil replaced at another place and to my surprise they showed me an OEM coil. Kaz didn't replace anything. I only found out later and unfortunately it cost me about $900 to do that, rather than much cheaper amount it should have costed me. read more

I was drawn to the older gas pumps and open design when I first saw it. When I needed a tired repair I decided to check out this place before trying a larger chain store. I'm glad I did. They were so friendly and helpful. My tire had a screw in it. They easily could have told me they needed to patch it or I needed a new tired but they removed the screw and found no leak. I love supporting local businesses and the guys here are great. I plan to bring my car in if it ever needs service. read more

Kaz's was highly recommended by parts manager @ dealership for excellent workmanship and they live up to this reputation with OUTSTANDING results! My 1999 Chevy Suburban required rather involved repairs and they readily took on the challenge, despite the service advisor at the local dealership telling me my 22yr old vehicle was too old for the dealership to work on. Kaz's also performed my oil change while they had my Suburban and ALL of the work was completed in LESS THAN 24 HRS from the time I dropped off my Suburban. Had a timing belt and wheel bearings replaced recently, they were the best price of several shops and dealers around Memphis. The work is good, the staff are horrendous. Bad attitudes, little customer service skills. When I developed a shimmy in the brakes immediately after the wheel bearing work I suspected it was connected to the recent work. When I went to remove the suspect wheel I could not get the lugs off they were on so tight. Called Kazs and they offered to help get the lugs off, but would not even consider their work the cause of my problem, plus they were jerks about it, and were pretty much flippant about my business. $2,300 is not something to be flippant about and I will not be returning to Kazs nor suggest others do. read more

My parent's were in town, so I asked them if they could bring my car somewhere to get the Air Conditioning fixed, as I have no time to bring it anywhere myself. I had been warned many times that AC repair is the worst and everyone is going to take you for a ride.. Well I couldn't deal with out an AC since I have an infant son and this is our only vehicle. We felt burned by Kaz and his staff on our last visit to his shop. One of the mechanic's said we needed new rear brakes and new rear shocks & struts. I had just replaced the shocks and struts last July which were very costly with another garage and told the mechanic that. No, he said we needed them. I was dumbfounded. How could that be? We decided to take our car to Cecil's Automotive in Collierville due to the great Yelp reviews. They confirmed that we did NOT need new brakes or shocks and struts. Wow. We really felt ripped off by Kaz' shop. Be cautious about what they tell you. So glad we found Cecil's! Now our new go to mechanic! read more

Kaz's is amazing. They identified and fixed my brakes in 1/3 of the time that Firestone couldn't even find the problem in. From the time I called the shop to the time I was driving away I had nothing but a positive experience with Kaz's. Everyone was extremely friendly and very open with me, telling me a rough estimate of what it was going to cost from the start and keeping me up to date along the way. They were also priced extremely fairly and the cost was about half of what I was expecting. I've had my truck for 10 years and made several trips to a variety of automotive shops, and Kaz's has been my favorite experience of all of them by far. read more

We took our 1969 Chevelle to Kaz's for some tune up work and to have them check the brakes. They did a great tune up plus found and corrected some carburetor issues created by a more expensive shop. They checked what we thought was a brake problem and discovered it was a control arm that needed to be replaced. Car now runs great. It is hard to find good mechanics that still know how to work on old cars. Glad to know we have one in Collierville. read more

Overall, Kaz is a good garage. The mechanics know their stuff and are thorough. Their prices are a little more than others but still competitive. However, I'll pass on this shop. The owner, Kaz, is very surly and insolent. He needs to realize that we are paying customers and he needs to chill out. Very rude at times. Kaz needs to work on his people skills. The fact that I have to rate even a one is discouraging. Although the first guy we spoke with behind the counter was pleasant. Went into the shop today with a friend of mind to get an estimate on a job that she needed done. The first thing I asked the guy behind the counter was if I could get a written estimate on this job, and the guy at the front counter said "sure".I explained that the car had already been diagnosed, we had the part needed, we just needed them to put it in and give us a quote for the labor. He then took the invoice he had started to Kaz to look up the estimate for the work I needed done. Kaz quoted that the repairs would cost $200. I then asked for a written estimate. Kaz IMMEDIATLY asked "what are you up to??? Why do you need a written estimate??" My girlfriend told him that my husband was a mechanic but would be out of town, and she needs her car to be fixed right now and couldn't wait. I then said to Kaz "we just want a written estimate of what you're telling me you will do and the cost", to which he replied "I'm not touching that car now", and waved us off. So we turned and walked out of the shop. Now mind you, we were standing there with the last three receipts, (didn't even bring them all) paid in full to this shop, equaling to over $2000 of work they had done on this vehicle over the last year. We brought them in case there was any information needed on them due to the fact that we couldn't physically drive the car in today. Tennessee Code title 66 states: "66-19-104. Duty to inform consumer of rights. (a) Before beginning any repair work on a motor vehicle, an automotive repair facility shall inform the consumer for whom the repairs are to be done of the following rights: (1) That a consumer: (A) May request a written estimate for repairs that cost in excess of two hundred fifty dollars ($250); and (B) May not be charged an amount over twenty-five percent (25%) in excess of the written estimate without the consumer's consent or good faith attempt to acquire the consent I would think that any honest repair shop would have no problem giving a written estimate for the work before they start, even if the quote was only $200 instead of the $250 that the law requires. Even if he gave us an estimate that states that it could run $200-$300, we would have been fine with that, but to assume that we're "up to something" for asking to have an estimate in writing is pretty shady business ethics in my opinion. I would also think that having a written and signed estimate would only protect themselves as well. Either way, I wouldn't recommend them to even an enemy. (as they have written on their "recommend us sign" on the wall). I would rather pay dealership prices than go to this place! read more
