I attempted to procure an estimate on drywall repair. I answered all the questions Yelp asked and was contacted by KB Drywall. He threw a price at me without coming out to look at the project. When I requested a visit he told me he didn't need to come out, he knows what cracks look like. Then after I told him I would not use his company because I did not think he had good customer service skills he sent me this e-mail reply -"Next time don't disclose what all you need repaired just say I need drywall repaired I need someone to come take a look only! I reported you to yelp because yelp has you ask questions about what all you need done and 5 contractors receive this info to read and come up with a price and respond with an estimate that's how this work" Don't disclose what all I need? Should've listen to the other reviews. This guys is the most unprofessional piece of work I've dealt with. Set up a time to have some drywall texture done, I had to contact him the day of to confirm, he then replied he would be there an hour later. No big deal. Then I told him there were a few nails that would have to be removed, thinking it would be not a big deal. He then responded saying that he would have to reschedule because an "emergency drywall repair" suddenly came in and I could remove the nails myself. After that I decided this guy wasn't for me so I canceled. He could've been professional about it but instead sent a message trying to inform me of how contractors have busy schedules and I asked for more work. Like removing a few nails would add hours to the job and cost hundreds more. This guy is a joke, stay far away. Response to owner: Lol so pulling a few nails would've added so much time to the job? Just requested a written estimate for a small job. Owner writes back requesting name, address and $100 via Zelle. All this before he sees what needs to be done. Says it will "come off the top" if hired. I replied "Nope" and left it at that. Ken writes back and says "Good luck then no contractor is gonna waist there time invoice etc." And then follows that with "Send a photo of the repair next time" which I would have had I been asked to. I have had many people come to my house to give me a written quote for various repairs and have never been asked to Zelle money prior. He continues to write me now trying to get the job. Illiterate clown. No one in their right mind would (or should) just zelle money to someone like that! And if that is the standard for simple drywall repairs these days (which I doubt), then I will do the job myself. Price: Had four other quotes for the job (which I highly encourage getting before deciding on anyone). Ken was in the same ballpark of the other estimates and settled on a fair price. Service: Had Ken patch up a former pet door (11in x 8in). He installed insulation into the wall and patched it up perfectly. He also textured matched the surrounding wall which really is the most important step if your walls have decorative texturing (knock-down etc). Yes he has good response time but cancels on the day of. My appointment was scheduled for Friday at 12. On Thursday he asks if he can move it till 2 and I said ok. Then on Friday he said there was a freeway closure and turned around (instead of saying he will be running late.) We rescheduled for Saturday at 10. Wish I could give KB a good review but I can't in this case. They did not finish the job, and refiaed to work with us to get it finished. Instead Ken said "just paint it." Another drywaller was called in to give a second opinion, and said it would look horrible that way (three separate textures). I offered more money to have Ken finish the work, and he refused, taking the money we gave him when he said he was done, and refusing to do more, even when we offered some additional money in good faith. Looking back, we should have inspected the job more closely before paying him. This delayed our project while we got the other drywaller in. Ultimately, Ken (I think that's his name) was so upset that I was questioning his work, that he threatened to show up at my door and put his fist through my throat. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but just be aware of how it might turn out if you hire this company. Wish it was different. read more
