The hours on the website are Wednesday through Saturday from 11 AM to 5 PM. The gallery features a variety of art from local artists. We admired jewelry, pottery, paintings with various techniques, photography art and other works. They alternate the art every 60 days. They also have first Saturday art receptions that include live music and refreshments. The prices are were affordable for prints to frame and the original pieces were in the normal price range or less that are featured at local art shows. The gallery is peaceful and enjoyable. One of the owners spoke to us about the various art displayed and the art classes that they have to offer as well for various skill levels.

You walk out with a personalized sign that looks like you bought it from Etsy for a lot more than you paid, and no shipping charge. If you're not creative, don't worry. The Wine and Paint requires some creative or artistic talent, and then you have nothing to do with the canvas you bring home because let's face it, it's amateur even if you're good. This is different - you come home with a permanent decor piece or a holiday decor item added. $65 for these signs is a good deal! And it's a fun night out. Honestly, the fumes are a lot. And when I need professional help, I visit LS Scrapbook Boutique. She has an answer to every one of my dumb questions: How do you glue such a tiny strand of paper? Was that made with a Sizzix? What ink is that? How do I color that? She has monthly crop-ins. That's where you do scrapbooking or card making for 2 days straight. She has weekly classes. She has oddities that can't be bought at Hobby Lobby. She has lay out 12/12 kits. It literally is a scrapbook boutique.

It's really hard to define Back Door Pottery. It was stop #4 for me on an Arts Crawl for the…read moreHistoric North East neighborhoods, and what a great experience! Owner Rebecca Koop is the perfect host and tour guide through her magical land of art, nature, education, commerce, conservation and most importantly community. The pottery for sale is amazing and the prices are right in line. Most pieces for sale are both functional and beautiful. There are also classes available to learn the art of ceramics. While this would define most pottery businesses, Back Door's magical element actually lies outside the building. As you approach the building make sure that you take a close look at the front façade; it may look like a intricate paint job but it is actually a ceramic tile mosaic that was 15 years in planning and 2+ years of installation. It is truly mind boggling to see it up close and discover the details and hidden creations in the 450 square feet of art. After you are awed by the tile work, step to the west side of the building and observe the mural that wraps itself around the the side to connect to the mosaic - fascinating in it's own right. The Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood garden is also on the property and is fascinating to explore with the garden beds, small orchard, water retention systems and folk art all condensed on to a large city lot. Back Door Pottery is just one more hidden jewel that makes Kansas City a true arts mecca!
