Not for residential work. Poor quality, shoddy workmanship, and way over priced. The design team was great, thorough and helpful but the actual crew was a total bust. Nobody spoke English, and each team installed something different and spoke different languages from each other so even they couldn't communicate. I've been remodeling my basement and working with a lot of companies during the process. Some have been really painful, particularly in response time, but getting a countertop from KC Granite and Cabinetry went really smooth. Originally, I was going to pick a box store countertop... Home Depot or Lowes, because I thought that would be more affordable. However, it turns out, KC Granite & Cabinetry was just as affordable, if not more so, with a much faster turnaround, and more options that I could see in full slab form. I met with Erin Morris and we walked through the warehouse to look at all their options and I ended up picking "white marble" dolomite, which is a tad softer than granite, but fine for what I wanted in a bar countertop. Erin even sent a sample home with me. Then someone came out to take measurements. He gave me a couple different options for making it look right since the walls in my basement aren't perfectly straight. We settled on making a template. He also talked to me about maintenance on resealing it periodically, types of liquids to be careful with, and made sure he answered all my questions before leaving. Turnaround after that was superfast and they were able to install it the next week! It looks beautiful and you would have no idea that the wall had a slight bow to it. It's perfect. Highly recommend, especially if you want a fast process with lots of options. read more

We could not be any happier with the quality of the service and the product. We only replaced the counter top (with granite) and the back splash in our kitchen. For the counter top, the folks at KC Granite patiently guided us through their store room (of granite slabs) and provided requested advice about what would work and not work for our kitchen. We had many questions and quite frankly the answers were well thought out and easy to understand. After we picked out our slab, they made arrangements for us to pick out which portions of the granite would go where (such as using a particular piece of the slab for our peninsula). Do not underestimate the importance of this step and thank goodness we listened to their input! We then set up an appointment for the install and they showed up on time. Their crew was friendly and all about business (no loitering!) and had our counter top installed in less than 2 hours. The final product has exceeded expectations. For the back splash, we asked for input from KC Granite and received tremendous feedback and ultimately settled on a tile that compliments our counter top very well. No comment on the install because we used a family friend to perform this task (but given the professionalism of the counter top install, we would not have hesitated to use KC Granite). Remodeling a kitchen can be very stressful; KC Granite made the process very smooth and took our worries away. Their unbound patience and diligence put us at ease and left us confident that we made the right choice. We also found their prices to very affordable and would not hesitate to use them again. read more

This will be a relatively long review, so here's the TL;DR version: Our kitchen looks great, but it took an ungodly amount of stress and time to get it that way. My story started at the beginning of June. My wife and I own an old bungalow in the Brookside area, and KC Granite sounded quite excited to be working on such a home. They showed up promptly, gave us a very reasonable estimate on the spot, and we hired them. We figured the biggest part of our kitchen remodel was in good hands. Their team showed up as promised on the appointed date, removed our existing heinous 60's countertops, backsplash, and sink. The next day, they showed up again to install our new granite counters and our sink basin. The plumbing was installed a day or two after that. Everything looked great, and the plan was moving along smoothly. After that, the timeline is important but gets a bit hazy since it was a few months ago, as of this writing. Anyway, on bidding our job, we were told we needed 28 sq. ft. of backsplash material. KC Granite does have a limited supply of backsplash tile and stone available, but we weren't particularly thrilled with any of it and opted to get our own. To be safe, we ordered 40 sq ft. When the tile team, which KC Granite had subcontracted with, came out, they called my wife and informed her that we were well short of how much tile we needed. That hang-up was seriously annoying, to say the least, but given that they did an excellent job, we were willing to slog through another week of a dysfunctional kitchen while another tile shipment came in. We set up another appointment with the tile guys to come back out after the extra backsplash tile arrived, and we waited. That's when everything went to hell. We were informed that it would be an additional $150 to install the extra backsplash due to the larger-than-expected square footage. Whether that arose from a misunderstanding during the bidding process or a slick move on KC Granite's part is debatable. In any event, the tile guy ("TTG," from now on) didn't show up when he was supposed to. I should mention that my wife and I work a lot and are essentially gone every day from at least 6-5 with basically no option to take time off, so when we do have a rare weekday off (like the one she had planned for on that particular day), it's pretty important to not waste it. She called TTG, and he literally said that he had simply forgotten to come out. When pressed to come finish the job that afternoon, he declined, informing my wife that it was his birthday, and he had been hoping to have the afternoon and evening off. This was on a Thursday, and he promised to be at our place on Saturday. TTG did, in fact, show up that Saturday. However, he was well over an hour late (again with the punctuality importance as above) and clearly had a raging hangover. After vomiting in our lawn a couple times - yes, really - he set to finishing up our backsplash. My wife was in the basement painting our kitchen cabinets and then had to leave for a meeting or something and didn't have time to inspect his work. When I got home later that day, I was dismayed to find multiple crooked tiles bent all over the place, large gaps between rows of tiles as wide as 1/2 inch in places, rows of tiles misaligned with adjacent rows, and just generally awful workmanship. If I wanted my backsplash to look like shit, I would've put it up myself! We got on the horn with TTG (who became increasingly difficult to contact as time went on) and the tile manager at KC Granite immediately to arrange for a fix. I feel like the tile manager was on our side, but given that it took another 2 weeks of hassling with this issue to get someone to come out and fix it, it was hard for me to tell if he was really lighting a fire under TTG. Ultimately, after another no-call, no-show from TTG, another of their contractors came out to set things right, and it took him all of 2 days to do so. The finished product of all that stress is quite nice and exactly what we were hoping for, frankly. It's just a damn shame that we had such a prolonged speed bump in our backsplash application. That really ruined our experience. I think I would use KC Granite again, but despite the convenience of having one entity deal with all of the tile and stone work at once, I would be very hesitant to have them put in backsplash or tile again, due to all the subcontracting difficulties we had. Stick with the services they don't have to farm out, namely granite and sinks. It was a rough go with KC Granite and Cabinetry, but they really did do quality work. Again, I hesitantly recommend their services, but buyer beware of anything non-granite. read more

I had a fabrication job done for a custom bathroom vanity. They borrowed a sink to cut the correct size. The sink was installed with a bad chip in the back of it that was not visible in the bowl. I didn't notice until two days after the install and they would not make amends. In addition to that problem, there are language barriers when interacting with the manager and the staff. One of the installers couldn't speak English. I will never do business with someone with such poor customer service. read more

I had hoped that I would have been able to give this establishment a better review but I simply can't. In short, there seems to be a general lack of organization and oversight that would have likely compensated for most the issues we experienced. To start with some of the sales staff aren't as helpful as the could be while others are very helpful. So it definitely makes a difference who you get. Secondly, the measurement appoint was completely missed the first time as no one ever showed up or called. Finally, be sure and schedule your installation well out in advance to start on Monday or they won't be ready when the time comes nor get the job done in a timely manner. Even though we did that, they showed up at the end the day and acted surprised they were removing are existing kitchen back splash. They ultimately end up cutting and tearing out sheet rock that would now have to replaced.anyway. However, with the tile guy showed up to do that and to install the back splash, he was not prepared to add in necessary supports and address the places where too much sheet rock was removed. That required another subcontractor to be scheduled which, along with the tile installer having to talk on the phone all the time and even leave for a few hours to sell a motorcycle, ended up making the entire process take twice as long as promised. The worst part was, not a single representative of the actual establishment ever showed up or called to check on things, offer an apology, or anything other than call the next day wanting the rest of the money. The good news is the granite counters and sink are great, and the new back splash looks pretty good.. read more

While the installation and final product is satisfactory, I have to say that the communication with this company was horrible! From a sloppy estimate that did not include everything we asked for, to the company being surprised by our choices (even though we made our choices very clear), to not ordering enough of the special-order backsplash tile, thus making our remodel twice as long, I cannot recommend this company until their customer service and communication improves. We've had our granite less than a week and I would advise going with a different company. We had a personal recommendation from someone to use KC Granite, because of this I unfortunately didn't do my research. The price per square foot beat most other companies by $5 or more for the same type of granite, there is a reason for this, you get what you pay for. Upon purchase of our granite we paid 1/2 upfront. This included the granite, sink, sink cutout, and a tile backsplash package. We asked about choosing our own slab and they said they would chose whichever slab would allow for them to cut our granite to have the fewest amount or no seams. This seamed reasonable to me, at the time. The day of installation the installers arrived 15 minutes past the scheduled 2 hour window. They removed the existing tile backsplash and removed the old sink and countertops. They then made sure the cabinets were level and brought in the new granite countertops. Everything appeared to be going well. They cleaned the granite and asked me to look at the countertops to make sure I was satisfied before they left. The granite was still wet and blotchy looking. When I questioned this, they said it would dry and fade to the lighter color. They told me I needed to seal the granite every 3-6 months, which I found out later to be abnormal and shouldn't need to be sealed except about once a year. Within 30 minutes of installation, and after the countertops had dried, I noticed a pretty significant scratch right down the center of the main area of countertop. After inspecting further, there was a second scratch in another area, a dark brown streak down a side and some significant damage to the wall/corner where the granite was shoved into place and buckled the wall behind it. I called KC Granite and spoke to Madison. She asked that I text her pictures of the damage which I promptly sent. The next day Gerardo, the 'installation manager" came out to see the damage. He fixed the scratches and removed the dark mark on the side but told me there was nothing he could do about the wall since he's "just a granite guy." I text Madison and asked if someone else would be coming out to repair the wall. She said no, Gerardo was supposed to do that. This was the last communication I received from her after multiple attempts. While Gerardo was fixing the granite I confirmed the granite had been sealed and questioned the rough/sandy feeling and the darkening of the granite when it got water on it. He said it was all normal and it was just due to the granite we chose, Luna Pearl. One day later, someone left a glass of ice water on the counter for a few hours. After I dried up the counter I expected the ring to fade like the other water spots had. It did not. After several google searches and several tries to remove it, it has faded some. I've since sealed the countertops myself as it was very obvious it was not done by KC Granite. The 'sandy' feeling is practically gone and the water beads up on it like it is supposed to and doesn't darken when wet. There are still several fissures or rough spots you can feel with your fingernails but overall sealing it seems to have helped most of the issues. I will say, I'm extremely happy with the tile work on the backsplash. John Capehart is the tile guy contracted by KC Granite and he was great. He protected everything with drop cloths immediately when he arrived, he cleaned up after himself, he was in constant communication about his arrival times, and he did excellent work. read more

We had granite installed in our kitchen-granite looks great all but dark coloration and crack in front of sink. It is very noticeable and unsightly. We contacted KC Granite/Jason numerous times and he will do nothing - he was rude and argumentative. Horrible customer service. A repairman came out to attempt a fix, he told us he was not able to fix, nothing more he could do. We are now stuck with great granite counter with a dark spot that is cracked and KC Granite was less than helpful. I would read all reviews and think twice before using them. read more

Used this company several years ago for our kitchen granite install. They were great. Decided to use them again for a simple bathroom countertop. Everything was fine until the day of the install. I was notified the day before of a 1-3 window for installation. Decided to contact them at 3:20 to ask what was going on since I had heard nothing. Was told they would check and get right back to me with an ETA. 45 minutes later I had to call again because I hadn't received a call back with an ETA. I was rather irritated that I had to keep contacting them to find out what was going on and told the person on the phone that. I was then told that "I didn't have to be so unreasonable"...What? That needless to stay really set me off! I was told there was an issue on the job prior to my install and "things like this happen". Sorry...I DON'T CARE! That's not my problem! It is the company's responsibility to keep the customer informed of changes to their promised window of time to show up. I took the whole afternoon off waiting around and someone couldn't take 30 seconds to let me know the installers would be later than expected and why? Just bad business. After asking for the salesperson I had been working with, he got on the phone and pretty much told me the same thing that "things happen". He did finally give me an ETA of 25 minutes. When the installer showed up (4:45), he immediately apologized and told me he had called the office 2 hours previously telling them he had an issue with the install he was on and would be later for mine! I told him no one let me know anything as to when to expect them to arrive. Next, he discovered a piece of the backsplash was cut incorrectly. He said he would go back and let the office know. My husband ended up fixing the screw up himself and completing the install. Now, you would THINK after all that, I would at least get a phone call the next day asking if everything turned out ok and if we needed a replacement for the piece that was cut incorrectly, but again NOTHING...Done with this company, they need a class on customer satisfaction and communication, because my experience with them this time stunk...never again! read more
