I have been a customer of Mercury Insurance for many years for both my auto and home insurance. On August 14, 2026, I visited KCal Insurance Agency in Irvine to clarify some questions regarding my coverage, which was coming up for renewal. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The associates I initially spoke with did not appear to have adequate knowledge of the insurance matters I was asking about. Eventually, the Branch Manager, Bruce, stepped in. However, he was also unable to explain what endorsements were included in my policies and some other issues. Rather than addressing my questions or helping me understand my coverage, Bruce became hostile and rude, which I found particularly disappointing from someone in a management position. After spending more than 40 minutes at the office, I left without having my questions properly answered or my concerns clarified. I hope KCal Insurance Agency takes this feedback seriously and provides its associates with better training to ensure they can confidently and accurately address customers' insurance questions. More importantly, I believe the Branch Manager should set the standard for professionalism, courtesy, and customer service for the entire team. I sincerely hope KCal improves its customer service and professionalism so that long-standing customers receive the level of assistance and respect they deserve. read more

I reached out to Simon Hsu at KCal Insurance with a confusing health insurance issue -- my primary care doctor suddenly told me they didn't accept my plan, even though I had already confirmed with the insurance company that my PCP had been updated. Within a couple minutes, Yen knew exactly what I wanted, gave me an immediate verbal quote on the phone, and sent over the written quote with all the details I requested within a few minutes. She was quick and efficient, but also professional and kind. That afternoon, I decided on a policy and got in touch with Yen again. I had heard about Kcal Insurance through a friend and had gone in for a quote since they were super close to my house. They are a little hard to find but they are located in the plaza right across from 99 Ranch on Jeffrey where there is Taiko, A&J Restaurant, China Garden, etc...If you go up the stairs in front of Lollicup that is the easiest way to find them...I had wanted to switch but had always put it off because I would always procrastinate. When I went in the agent had given me a comparison of a few different companies which included Mercury, Metlife & Nationwide...In the end I decided to go with Mercury because it was around $350 lower than my current auto and home insurance...If I had known that I could save so much then I would have switched much sooner and used that money on something else. read more
