I had work done in my yard by Redefine Landscaping (doing business as KD Landscape) late June 2024. Aside from the 40% of shrubs bushes and trees that died that year, they installed a large amount of perimeter vinyl fencing that was not installed properly and had tipped over and 7 panels blew out over the course of 2024 winter and ensuing 2025 winter leaving me to call them to make repairs. Redefine/KD Landscape did come out 4 separate times to attempt to repair but each time proved to be a failure. Fence posts snapped and broke along with panels that blew out. I hired a new company to replace the fence, J.D. Brick who felt the fence was not installed properly and was substandard materials. No reinforcing screws were place along the horizontal struts of the fence and many posts were swaying and loose. I have spent an additional $12K to replace parts of the fence. The total costs of the original fence by KD Landscape was $17K. Please see pictures attached. After $10,000 + We had to have them come back every year since they did the job. if it was done correctly the first time this would not be an issue. Today the receptionist told me spray some weed killer on it. If this company used the proper weed fabric to begin with this would NEVER happen and it would never be this bad every year. Absolute dishonest, unprofessional, unreliable, abhorrent garbage. When they do show up to "plow snow," they simply push piles to the sides of instead of removing it. When they do pretend to remove it, the snow is not plowed down to the pavement- leaving you with a ton of ice later on. Avoid for snow plowing. read more

Awful do not hire them! I will write a full review later! Awful!!! Totally unprofessional. The first time his crew showed up, I couldn't communicate with them because they didn't speak English! I have a signed contact and they have not fulfilled it. On contract it has black edging and it was explained that since we texted about natural edging he decided that was agreed! They only put weed paper under the plants and weeds are coming up all over! The garden was supposed to be built up, however it was not! I asked for gray stones, and they put pinkish pebbles. They kept promising to come and finish but never did! On Friday 6/12/2020 they came to build up the garden, and didn't bring dirt and was told they would be back in an hour and half; it is 6/20/2020 and they haven't been back. Horrible service. Never showed for the majority of the season. Non-responsive to my and many other customers' calls. This poor service was NOT just during blizzards and the worst fo the Buffalo winter storms; it was consistent even w/ typical snowfalls, in which I snow blew my own driveway and shoveled my own sidewalks, but my rental property (for which I hired them) was entirely forgotten by them. 1.5 Stars because the average between 4 and 1 is is 2.5, and because the 1 left a much greater negative impression than the positive 4, a star is deducted and I'm rounding it down. In fact I really don't like to rate things as a 1 (or whatever the lowest is for a given situation), so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because the first time was quite good. But based on how horrific the second time was... never, ever again. The first time I used their landscaping service, the job was done very thoroughly in spite of it being a fairly large job that actually took two full days to complete. The only reason why the first experience was not a 5 was the communication about when they'd be over and working wasn't clear, and the clean up was a little bit rushed. Fast forward to the second time I hired them, which was a slightly smaller job to do (mainly because the first time was done well) and things really couldn't have been any worse. They wound up coming to do the job a day later than agreed upon, were more than 3 hours late on the following day, rushed through everything and was not thorough at all. Some of the weeds were back to their prior height within a month, and had I gone to bed (I work overnights and typically go to sleep late afternoon/early evening) they wouldn't have even done half the job had I not been watching them start to pack up after only completing the front yard. To add insult to injury, I find out a week and a half later when my neighbor's kid care over to do the mowing he found that they had covered up the fact that they damaged one of my drain pipes. Did add a small piece of equipment. Did not level or grade the area. Skimped on the top soil as the owner told me the estimator did not estimate it right. Not sure if you can give 0 stars. Paid $1600 for a sod installation job and the completely butchered it. Did not properly Till my soil and put sod on top of large chunks of dirt/grass (See pics). I paid $480 for sod coverage along the lines where drainage pipes were installed in my yard. They dug out the topsoil, but did not fill the ruts first, just put the sod on top. The grass grew, but I have deep ruts all around my yard now, hidden under the grass. i have repeatedly requested they look at the work and resolve the issues. I am constantly ignored or told they will come next week and then never come. I warn that you should not use them for any sod work! I am sorry that I did. read more

BEWARE: These are not landscaping professionals and they are dishonest. When I hired them to landscape my yard and clean gutters, they offered to sod the yard for an added $1500. When they arrived, the guy said that it would be an extra $5000! I told them we have a real deer problem, so needed plants accordingly. They planted some hostas, which were eaten all the way to the ground by the very next morning. When I sent pictures, they said they would replace them "as a courtesy", but came and put plants that were diseased and obviously pulled from trash. (see photos) I had to argue with them to put healthy plants in. They lied and said the job was done, but as you can see in the photo, the gutters were not cleaned at all. So when they came back, the guy said they didn't do some of it because of the gate ( which has no lock and we have no dogs in the yard either. ) A tree they were supposed to prune was a wreck, including a limb that was broken off instead of having cut it. Also, they neglected to mulch areas that were part of the job and I had to remind them of that. Before they finished the job, 4 guys showed up on my porch unannounced, demanding the balance of payment. When I pointed out that they had left in one of the tree stumps that were part of the job, they wanted another $400. So this ended up with these guys arguing with me in my front yard and yelling over me when I spoke. They clearly thought they would intimidate me into paying for what hadn't yet been done. This company is AWFUL! They covered all my weeds and shrubs with fabric and all the fabric is lifting up from the plants growing and causing mulch to go everywhere. The company refuses to fix this! I had several people tell me they did my beds all wrong and even the owner came and said it was wrong and raised to high. He promised a crew would come fix it. He will not respond to any calls or messages! This company is shady and unprofessional. This is going to cost more to fix than it did to do which was over 2300! I have many reciews with pictures! I absolutely loved these guys. So timely, courteous, and reasonably priced. I had another "guy" from the neighborhood quote $200 more without mulching the front or sod the back. They were just going to take the mound down and re-seed the lawn. They had my front yard cleaned, trimmed and mulched. My backyard.. a huge mound with a tree, 500 pound boulder, all the rock formation down, flattened, and fresh sod in less than 4 hours. When they were finished, you had no idea anyone was there. And then act like they had someone to do it when it was 1 of there employees or family members one of the two. I've never left a review before, but I do not suggest this company. It has snowed twice this winter so far. The first time they came in the afternoon and did horrible work. They piled the snow against my back fence so I couldn't access the back of my property, they piled the snow up at the base of my front steps, and they snowblowed the snow against my side door, so it was blocked with snow. They blocked all three entrances to my home. It's after 5pm and they still haven't come today. I called at least 8 times and finally got through just to get yelled at by the guy. I'm having hip replacement tomorrow, which is the the only reason I hired a plow company. They make customers pay the whole season upfront, and charged almost twice what another company quoted me. I paid because they said they could come in the morning and were one of the best companies. They should have told me they couldn't guarantee morning plowing, so I could look for someone who could do the work I need. I would steer clear unless you have all day to be snowed in and don't mind a company that can't answer the phone to give you an idea of when they are coming. I'm hopeful they will do a better job for the rest of the winter, so I can update this review. *UPDATE* The company contacted me and promised to do a better job. They gave me a direct phone number to call if work is not done right the next time. I'm feeling more optimistic. I'll update if they follow through. read more

Charged me $220 for topsoil but never provided. We had to dig through mulch and look at video surveillance. I will be pursuing legal action. Did not even install all rebar in the landscape timber that I purchased.Get estimates from other contractors and put everything in writing!!! read more

When I saw the beautiful lawn that was installed I could hardly believe my eyes. This was a huge amount of work, leveling the earth and installing the sod. It looks fantastic and we could not be more pleased. I could not be happier. This was an incredible amount of work for a really great price. Thanks to the crew that accomplished all this in one day. This group did an excellent job removing snow from my driveway. Responding to a last minute call on a Sunday morning, they arrived within two hours. Not only did they plow, the three-person team used two different sized snow blowers and a snow shovel to take care of some tight areas. READ THIS BEFORE USING KD LANDSCAPING SERVICE I had a decent plow service that I've used for years. As a matter of personal principal I decided to leave the service I'd been using and go with a new one. I searched for 'Plow Services (My Zip Code)' and found the "top rated" company that served the local area. This has been the worst winter I've experienced as a homeowner and I regret going outside of the network of landscaping companies I knew because of some good ratings online that may or not even be legitimate. I am writing this review knowing very well that the service quality may even decrease more after the fact but it's so bad that I can't imagine it getting any worse. The price: I negotiated a price with the company based on a simple basis. I was paying $500 previously, I'm happy to pay a bit more for a new company (for personal reasons, the other plow service was actually great compared to KD Landscaping). The man told me that he would stop by and we would speak in person. He came to my office and we discussed the service. I was looking to spend ~$650 or so. When I was told that the price was closer to $800, he told me it was because of the reviews. Basically "You get what you pay for." I proceeded to let him know that I have someone else who has been my plow guy for several years for $500 and doing a great job and I was only entertaining the idea of hiring a new plow service over a petty argument unrelated to the services. The guy from KD landscaping then started negotiating and met me halfway. He knew my hard limit was $650 so he agreed to do the service for $650.00 of course after arbitrary fees and tax it came to almost $750.00. We were right back to the original price before we began negotiations. I thought 'screw it, I need a plow service- the guy is here now ready to take a deposit with a contract in hand, let's do it.' I was promised that my driveway would be clear by 6am every morning. He has not been to my house since before 8pm EVER. This has resulted in snow being packed down from cars driving over it before the plow comes. The contract says that the plow comes after 4 inches. Now it may snow 2 inches 4 times in 1 day, but if it doesn't snow 4 inches in a single session, they don't come. There was a ridiculous day where I called and asked it they forgot about my house and they claimed that they were on their way as I called around dinner time. The ONLY requirement I had is that I need my driveway cleaned out before me and the other 2 cars in my driveway can get out for work at 6am every day. This have never been the case. My house is wired up with cameras as part of a security system. I have seen so many half assed attempts at plowing my driveway it's ridiculous. I'm dying for this winter to be over so that I can put this terrible experience behind me. The plow with KD landscaping ran over the orange poles they put in the ground several times and then destroyed my lawn driving over it. The neighbors have came knocking about their driveways being blocked in with my snow because of the carelessness of KD landscaping. The icing on the cake is that because I negotiated a slightly lower price (which turned out to just be the normal price anyways), they took off every possible addon so I still have the inconvenience of shoveling and icing the walkways. I didn't realize this was omitted from the contract until he was out the door with my check because I didn't have 20 minutes to read 2 pages of a horribly consumer unfriendly contract after a 20 minute negotiation while working. I came back to wondering why I hired them to begin with and I remember seeing good reviews online. So here is an honest review to prevent someone else from falling victim. I hope it saves you some money because I'm sure the services will only get worse now that I've posted this review. I am however filming all activity in the driveway just in case. read more
