I have been with KDA Taxes since 2021 and I recommend them for customers looking for Real Estate Professional, House Hacking, Out of State Rental Property ownership. At KDA I value the staff that they have, I will admit I did have my gripes with certain CPAs/EAs but they have since been relieved and I was bumped to their top staff and have been grateful specifically for Alan Alavarez and Lauretta Lloyd. Additionally, it is worth noting that KDA is a Southern California entity but has handled my work in Wisconsin and in other area of CA. They are not specific to only CA. I also believe that their pricing is fair and their customer service is good, now. I do appreciate they have a main line that can direct you to who you are looking for, or if you cannot get a hold of your EA/CPA. I have had a few family members in the Real Estate realm that have jumped ship from KDA, but I have been treated well since I voiced my concerns and now I believe that KDA has treated me like a valued customer. read more

Literally the worst service experience I've ever had with any company... feels like a borderline scam. They charged an absurd amount of money to give me basic, generic advice. I showed it to another accountant I met later and she told me the info they gave me was stuff she'd tell people for free. For $5,000! Oh and if I wanted their help doing any of the generic things they told me, that would be another $2,000... But truly, that wasn't the worst of it. The accountant I met with was unprofessional, unmotivated, and downright rude. When I asked him a few questions via email, he'd reply with a few words and not answer the questions I asked. Plus, when I emailed again and he finally did answer my questions, he gave me the wrong information multiple time costing me even more money on taxes and a ton of headache in fixing mistakes Oh... but it gets worse... they filed my payroll taxes with the wrong information and didn't realize until I told them! WTF! They said they'd take care of it and I assumed it was done. I even followed up a few times and was assured it was being taken care of. But then 9 months later when I go to look for the tax document I needed and couldn't find the corrected one, I ask them what's up and they tell me they actually never finished fixing the problem. Again WTF!? Did they fix it for me then (remember this was a service I already paid for and THEY screwed up)? NO! They told me I'd have to give them even more money to just do what I originally paid them to do... LOL. So that was a few weeks of back and forth email, calling in, being told they'd only do it if i paid them and blah blah blah. When they sell you they'll tell you "oh just call me, I'll take care of everything, blah blah blah"... but then as soon as your check clears they act like they don't care about you at all. Rarely answer emails, if I called in somehow the person I wanted to talk to would always be out of the office "but they'll call you back" even though they never did. Oh but don't worry, they'll have their accounting team email you bills for services you never even agreed to sign up for!!! Overall with the money I paid them and the mistakes they made that cost me more on taxes, I probably spent like 7k on this nonsense... all to make myself a ton of headaches in the process that litearlly took years to fully resolve. Do not know how this is legal, I would never recommend them to anyone even my worst enemy. I hope they see the light and begin treating their customesr better instead of just seeing them as a cash cow. Avoid at all costs. read more

I'm a CPA and purchased one of their CPA marketing programs. Since then, they won't stop charging my card, even though I haven't authorized any further payments. They keep claiming that I'm manually re-entering my credit card information and repurchasing the same program over and over--which is completely false. I originally bought the program back in 2023, but it's now 2025, and I'm still getting charged for it. I've contacted their customer service multiple times, and they've been absolutely no help. They just keep insisting it must be something I'm doing, and they refuse to take responsibility. Check the screenshots--I've had multiple charges and random refunds, but the problem continues. According to them, there's "no way" their system is causing this, which is hard to believe given the pattern. Be very cautious before giving them your payment information. ***UPDATE*** Company reached out to me regarding this review. I requested a link to the sales funnel where they are saying I am continuing to purchase a duplicate course. They literally told me they don't have a link to the sales funnel in their system...Keep in mind they are also saying I went to this sales funnel 2 weeks prior to this review on September 17th. KDA - Duplicate charges for the item over and over. - Accountants Near Me - La Palma, California

Upon first engaging with KDA Inc in August of 2024, I spoke with Sharyce about 2023 tax prep filing. We went through the initial consult and when it came down to the pricing question she said it "depends on how long it takes" to file each return. I knew I had 2 business tax returns that had $0 revenue activity because they were just started so it was not going to take long at all. It would be a $750 retainer up front and then based on time, I would get charged the difference. Pretty standard for tax preparation. Then, when I received the bill after the returns were completed, it ended up costing $1,900 for a return that had 3 line item entries! Upon reviewing the breakdown of the charges, they ended up charging per IRS form generated and NOT per time as Sharyce had initially described. The final bill showed a $1,500 charge for just the return along with a few other forms that made the total $1,900. Their engagement contract states they are "unable to provide an accurate quote" (red flag) and that they use only the forms needed, however I was already told that the final charges will essentially be based on time spent by the preparer. In the below Appendix A section, you will see the initial estimate with the $750 retainer shown and then the final bill that depicts that the standard 1120S document is actually $1,500. None of that was mentioned that the standard form required was actually twice the cost along with other ancillary forms. They simply state in their agreement that they are "unable to provide an accurate quote", but if the standard 1120S document is twice their retainer cost, I feel they should have been able to provide something a little more accurate...or come close to it. Upon speaking with Kameron Dennis, their Client Service Manager (which took almost 2 weeks to get him on the phone) he admitted that their pricing is confusing. So I am sure this has happened to others. This feels like a typical bait and switch move. BEWARE of using KDA Inc for tax preparation. They also have multiple complaints with the Better Business Bureau about similar situations. read more

Super aggressive sales tactics. First offer was $10,000 for them to do a detailed review of my personal and business tax returns for opportunities to save. When I said too expensive, a second less detailed review tier was offer for only $5,000. The salesman named Mark, called me 4 times in less than 24 hours even though from the first discussion I asked for a week to review the contract with my husband. Then, after his 4th call (and me not answering for a second time), my proposal was promptly canceled by KDA without warning so I couldn't even review what was to be provided for this $5,000 bill. Super aggressive and feels very slimy. I highly encourage others to find somewhere else for tax strategy assistance. KDA, Karla Dennis Associates(?), was helpful to me six years ago. However, over the years, their services have dropped to a very low level w/ the most recent experience being a very frustrating one. I called their office and asked one simple tax-related question: 'Do I owe taxes on a certain kind of income?' because I had been told by someone at an online tax preparation service, Turbo Tax, that I might NOT owe taxes on it. So, to get an answer from what I hoped would be a useful source, I called KDA. It took FIVE calls PLUS getting the run-around to finally get a complicated, useless reply stating they would have to review my past tax returns, etc before they could provide a 'yes' or 'no' answer. ARGH! So I called H&R Block and their tax consultant answered my question in less than 5 minutes w/ a 'yes' answer. My advice: Don't go to KDA unless you like feeling frustrated. Very bad experience being a client that is ordering multiple services. Talked to multiple people at KDA about unfair billing practice and all got the "I'll get back to you" after submitting written evidence multiple times to multiple people, guess what? Still no response. Filed complaint with BBB, finally got them to respond 1 month later to BBB. Unfortunately it is a lie, they stated to BBb they reached out to me for price adjustment (the loophole is as long as they submit any type of response to BBB, wether true or not, BBB will mark the complaint resolved and closed). I quickly responded to BbB issue is not closed and they lied about offering me price adjustment. I urge anyone else with bad experience to file complaint with BBB. read more

I enrolled in July 2023 for their Business Builder consultations subsequent to engaging with their content on YouTube. Before my initial session, I submitted my tax returns for their assessment. The consultations, however, provided generic advice regarding business expenditures, such as acquiring equipment, a car, or a house to mitigate taxes--information that did not align with my specific needs. Despite appointments being scheduled every other month, my credit card was charged $900 monthly. During the second session, I received identical information as the first. Disappointed, I requested a refund, only to be informed that someone would contact me. Days passed without any communication, prompting me to initiate contact for a refund. Despite expressing dissatisfaction and the desire for a refund, I was offered future credits for consultations with a different representative. Unhappy with the company's service and adamant about a refund, I encountered a protracted process that ultimately led me to relinquish the pursuit. I caution against engaging with this company due to the presence of inadequately informed personnel in the realm of tax reduction.I am presently engaged with KKOS LAWYERS and I am pleased with the comprehensive information and strategic guidance they are providing to effectively minimize my tax liabilities. I don't like writing reviews unless I feel very passionate about the topic. It's been 10 years since my first review and I've only given a one star review two other times. I won't go into detail because others have done so already. Most of the one star reviews I read sound similar to mine: -Was charged way more than was told I would be charged. -Their accountants lack experience. -I got bounced around to different accountants -They took way too long to respond to questions -Even though my income and schedule C were very similar to the past 8 years, I owed more than I ever had after using this firm. I have never left a bad review before, even when the service has been bad. However, this company deserves one. I found them because I follow Karlton Dennis on YouTube and he seemed like a very knowledgeable individual, which he is. I set up a consultation with him and he brought me onboard with is firm. If I would have done my due diligence and checked the reviews on yelp and google, I would have never gone into business with them. First of all I haves spoken to about 5 different accountants at that firm and it always seems to change, I never get the same person. I provided all my information in a timely manner and they still managed to file my taxes late. They filed an extension and still filed my business taxes late. I thought it would be fair for them to pay the late fee penalties since it was their fault and I had complied to everything they demanded of me. Not only did I have to pay for the late fees myself, I also received 2 notices from the IRS. The first notice they were charging me for not having medical insurance throughout the year, which I did. I explained it in detail to the initial accountant I was assigned to. I had coverage for one month in March and then for the remainder of the year I received coverage from my employer. We had to amend the taxes, and yes, I had to pay for that on my end, even though I felt that it was their fault. It is now November, and they have NEVER reached out to me, I always have to be the one to call in and push them to get my situation fixed. If they did not have room for more clients, they should have never accepted my business. They charged me $5000 for tax planning for the year and still have not been able to speak to someone about things I should be doing throughout the year to lower my tax bill. They gave me a plan earlier in the year and have not heard from anybody yet. Second notice from the IRS was because of the late taxes being filed. Currently they are still 'working' on this, but I still have not received any update. I also have yet to receive my amended taxes. They have however taken payment for everything; they never fail to charge me on a timely manner. Another thing I would like to mention is that Karlton does a great job explaining certain tax strategies we should take as small business owners, like the home office deduction. However, when I mentioned this to his firm, they said I was not allowed to use an office deduction because I live here? Made no sense to me and was very frustrated with this whole situation. Once this year ends, I will no longer do business with this firm again. Granted they probably do not care or will even notice a small customer leave, but if there's anything I can do to help future customers looking into getting this firm to do their taxes, I would say be very cautious and due your research. read more

I was selling a rental property I owned by myself and one that I owned with a partner.  I paid a lot in taxes last year so I was looking to make some changes to my tax strategy.  I talked to a few accounting firms, but finally settled on Karla Dennis & Associates.  I have seen Karla speak at Trade shows and on television so I felt confident in my decision.  I signed the engagement agreement, and I completed the very detailed questionaire.   To date, I've had 3 calls.  The first call was really informative.  Karla walked me through my tax returns from the previous year.  The second call included consultation on a sale and 1031 exchange I was conducting.  We also went through "what if" scenarios.  During the 3rd call, my tax strategy was outlined and the savings for each strategy was shared.  Each element of the plan was thoroughly explained, and I was given the flexibility to implement the strategies I wanted.  Now, I have a plan that I can reference and share when necessary.  I highly recommend this firm. read more

Not impressed. It is one thing that I took the time to fill in their questionnaires with great detail because I wanted them to thoroughly understand my business and tax history and for it to seem like it had not even been read at all. Have the benefit of the doubt, it is tax season perhaps a lot of consults are happening. I said I wasn't ready to commit because I was also interviewing others. Each of the other agencies were medium to large size and at each I spoke to actual accountants, not business development, though Karlton was nice to speak with. I reach back out and ask specifically to speak with an accountant or anyone that might actually handle taxes to be told that I could get 10 minutes (still, not opposed- I understand it is tax season) and that speaking to an accountant is a service for a paid customer. If you want to charge $5k- I should be able to speak to an accountant and not be told that the questions you wanted me to send so you could share with the accountant should already have been answered. I was rather excited to work with this firm after finding them on YouTube and was willing to pay the premium for it- I just wanted to speak to tax professionals about my taxes, even if an hour needed to be billable. Was even excited to sign up and the meeting say the consult was WITH Karla. It wasn't. Seems like the low star reviews on Yelp and Google are more accurate in my case here. Where is the KDA you see on YouTube? Or Dave Ramsey recommends? I'm not willing to pay Hermès money to be treated like CVS. read more

I had bookmarked this webinar to attend after seeing an instagram ad. Am sitting on the webinar right now, and there is no public chat nor is there anyone answering me. It seems fishy that Karla is talking as if it's a live webinar when it's a pre-recording, and then I got a message from her son saying he was available for questions. But when I ask, there is no answer. Then I went on google and found this yelp review page and I see many many negative reviews - mainly surrounding not getting an answer and going around in circles and then not getting much a response. Her program just seems inauthentic and some of the mixed reviews make me not want to trust it even more. Even the negative reviews don't have properly satisfactory responses from her team. This was a complete waste of time but even more of a waste of more than $3,000. I found Karla Dennis and Associates through Dave Ramsey's ELP program. It was completely my fault for not researching them beforehand. I trusted Ramsey to vet these people and trusted KD&A to do what they said they would do. I was moved from tax preparer to tax preparer over more than a 6 month time frame. Employees were quitting and nobody was informing me of the tax preparers leaving. I paid about $2500 to have them prepare my finances for return. They explained that I would save money when I file because of all this preparation. This included a quarterly phone call that basically went like this... "Kyle, are you employed still?" I would say "yes." And that would be about it. Then I paid more for them to actually prepare my taxes. There was no benefit of me paying for this "pre-preparation." Their communication is awful. I don't believe I ever got a response to an email without calling asking why I haven't gotten a response. The longest I went without hearing from them was more than two months. No returns of voicemails or emails for two months. It was completely my fault by not doing a simple search online and seeing all the reviews complaining about similar experiences. I blindly trusted them and I should have not done that. I gave them two stars because they did file my taxes. If you're looking for a firm who goes the extra mile and offers a personal touch, this is not the firm. read more

Do not waste your money here! They charge you so much for a financial plan and it's not even that great of a plan. I was set up with one rep and apparently he quit. No one notified me I didn't hear from them for months I had to email and call them myself only to find out that they all of the sudden had my case switched to someone else and that rep herself was very helpful But it seemed like the only times I heard from them in a decent time was when they wanted my money, they would repeatedly call me. I over paid for my taxes being done and not only were my taxes filed late. My wife and I bought into their program thinking they would actually do the things we were paying for.Once you sign on and provide your credit card for monthly billing, they go dark. Im embarrassed to say how much money we threw away, not to mention the time we wasted trying to track people down to get answers about our taxes.There is no strategy provided. We also had to file a dispute with our credit card company to get the auto payments stopped as they continued billing us even after we sent them a letter in writing as well as an email. It is my opinion that the people writing the 5 star reviews are not the regular clients who are being billed thousands of dollars and receiving nothing but a run around in return. Business ran better when Karla was hands on. I have used this company for several years and I plan to never use them again. This year they tried to double the charge for my corp taxes. I spoke to the controller and she tried giving me a sales pitch. She said I should have been charged more for my 2018 returns, but they will waive the fee. She then said they will give me a one time 30% discount. It's disappointing how they treat long term customers. read more
