The food was fine, but the service completely ruined the experience. We were a group of 11, and our server messed up two orders. When he realized his mistake, he offered to replace my husband's dish, but only after he had already eaten half of it, saying it would "take too long" to fix. When we realized the mistake, he was so rude to us. He said "why did you take the wrong plate?!?" But when the other server came to give the dishes he didn't mentioned anything, so we thought he was giving us the right plate. When it came time to pay, the server tried to charge us for the wrong plate, which was double the price of what we actually ordered. I calmly explained the situation, but instead of listening to me, he raised his voice, argued, and refused to talk to me -- only addressing my husband as if my words didn't matter. It was humiliating, aggressive, and blatantly SEXIST!!!! Another group came to sit behind us and I was sitting with my chair a bit far from the table and the same server came to me and say "can you move? Decided to dine in after ordering online. The location is convenient, there is some parking available. When we arrived the restaurant had a smell (wet cloth). We got used to the smell eventually. They have plenty of space for large parties. There are tv which feature the chef preparing the meat and their menu. We tried the baba ganoush, I did not like it much. It had a taste, the best way to describe it, it tasted like lamb. We tried the various platters, ground chicken, Adna & chicken kebab. The bulgur is very tasty, full of flavour. They also fill half of the plate with onions, carrots, salad etc. The meat itself was tasty, it came fresh, the chicken was full of flavour. Came here on a random Thursday evening to have some Turkish food! Service: 5/5 - Our server was very nice and friendly, gave us time to look at the menu, filled water, and we had a nice conversation at the end about Turkey and desserts, and he ended up bringing us a piece of Turkish delight to try. Thank you for that! Food: 4/5 - For the style of the place and the flavours, it was really good! I loved the chicken shish, it was so juicy and the salad dressing was so yummy. There are limited parking spots available in front of the restaurant and the booths can use some upgrades (To be considered if you're planning to have a gathering here). We ordered eggplant dip and Atom for appetizers. They're served with fresh and hot Turkish bread. And for entrée, we ordered Mixed Kebab; it includes 1 skewer of Adana Kebab, 3 pieces of Chicken Shish, 3 pieces of Veal Shish, half a portion of lamb and veal doner and half a portion of chicken doner, served with bulgur, salad and bread. Each Mixed Kebab is perfect for 2 people; or even for 3 people if you order appetizer, too. *Very disappointing experience - will never return.* We visited this Turkish restaurant ( Kabab 49) today and asked to one extra table for our group. No one told us there would be an extra charge. At the end, we were surprised with two separate bills and an additional $18 fee for the extra table. When we asked why this wasn't mentioned earlier, the *supervisor was extremely rude and unprofessional*. Instead of explaining politely, she said it's "written in the menu" and that we should've read it -- even though we clearly asked the waiter, and *nothing was said at the time*. Great food! I went with 3 other adults and 2 kids. We ordered the hummus, mozzarella pide and the Kebob for 3. Tonnes of food! Every plate was appetizing and well presented. All the meats were grilled to perfection and had a hint of smoke. We all left full, and even had to get some take out containers. Overall it was a wonderful experience. Of the many Turkish restaurants in Toronto this one is definitely on the nicer side. They really pay attention to decoration, design and detail - even the presentation on the platter was very crisp. The proportions were very good (I feel some Turkish restaurants skimp out on you but not here!) and the food was delicious and filling. They offered us tea on the house and the dessert was very nice. Came by here with a group looking to get dinner. The ambiance was live enough to feel like we were out but quiet enough to discuss topics with each other. The service was good. Even when busy they made sure to take care of our table. The only downside is that 3 of the dishes we wanted were sold out that day. And it was odd because the my seemed like popular choices. We came here for takeout based on a recommendation. We ordered ahead of time, but the food wasn't ready when we arrived and we still had to wait 10 minutes. The food was very flavorful, though the veal shish was a little dry. The salads are put together ahead of time, so some of the lettuce is wilted and discoloured. Also, another guest ordered the salad without onions, but they didn't follow this instruction, so just remember to check your order before leaving. These people take their Donar (I think that's how they spelled it on their menu) and Kebab seriously here. I walk in and there is a deli-meat fridge with some awesome meats ready to go. I'm gonna like it here! A client of mine wanted to have lunch - that's the way of saying let me pick your brain for an hour and only cost me a cheap lunch. Uh...Sure. Parking here is a bit of a nightmare so be prepared to be patient during busy hours. I was told to order what I wanted and I went straight for the quick meal options. Sandwiches were around $5 and there was two for $8 or $9. The pricing reminds me of Paramount and since their sandwiches are tiny there - not good either, I opted to get a dinner - a Mixed Donar for $12. Holy! The meal arrives and my dinner platter is HUGE! The sandwich my client order for himself is half the dinner plate and what a deal for $5. I looked at the heaping portions and thought I'm going to have to take this with me. The salad was good, the donar meats were tender and tasty. There pita was chewy and also quite good. As I was making my way through the rice and meats, I found two very large pieces of pita under the meats. AhhhhHHH! Now the meal doesn't look as big as it once did. Nonetheless it was filling and I did take the rest home for dinner. If you are looking to fill up with tasty meats. This is one of those places. Before the Covid crisis, this place was always packed with locals and people trying Turkish food for the first time. The small parking lot in the front gets full easily and is shared with the business next door so be prepared either park in the back or find alternative parking in the lots next door. Once you do settle in, that's when the fun really begins. The smells and flavours will transport you to an ancient world of spices and mystique. If you are a meat love, this place is for you. The grilled mix plate is the perfect combo to share with two people. Their veal and lamb are soft and perfectly spiced and normally they come with bulgar but this time we got rice with our order which was just as flavourful. Ordered the mixed meat platter. When it arrived we were told they were out of veal and they only served us with chicken (the cheaper meat) and a lamb skewer. Had really high hopes, but service proved to be cheap on 'certain' customers. Server never brought us water. He also never brought sauces with the meal that he promised to bring. We also noticed everything was of subpar quality. The meats were tough and did not have good flavour. The meats also seemed to be reheated from earlier in the day like leftovers as they were not hot and did not taste fresh. The sides were nothing special to accommodate tough stale meat. I will never go back there. It was a red flag when the server tried to upsell more food to us at the start yet we ordered a large 2-person meat platter. He was so insistent on us ordering more. At the end he didn't even show up to take the plate and give us the bill. A different server did. $43 and some for the plate was not worth even a quarter of that value. Costco steaks on the bbq are a better choice. The yogurt was a water diluted plain yogurt. Yet they charge $3.50! You can buy a tub of 8% MF balkan plain yogurt for that much. I'm obsessed with this place - it is SO good! My favourite is the appetizer dip platter, which is basically a bunch of delicious dips (hummus, babaganoush, a bean dip etc) with the best pita bread ever. I have also tried the lamb donair sandwich on a wood oven toasted bun and it was MASSIVE and super tasty. Kebab 49 is one of those places I've driven by many times, but until a few days ago, I'd never set foot inside. After choosing a nice booth near the back, we were immediately asked by our waiter if we were ready to order. We weren't, obviously, but perhaps we should've said yes since he never came back to take our order. (I waited about 10 minutes and then I finally got up and told him we were ready to place our order.) Anyway, I elected to go with the lunch special -- which comes with a veal-and-lamb doner, a salad, and a pop for $9.99. Not less than a minute after ordering, I was presented with my salad and then a minute after that my doner arrived. Meanwhile my dining companion had to wait an additional five or so minutes for his meal. Here's a wild concept: Maybe bring the mains at the same time? Crazy, I know. As for the food, I'll admit it was pretty spectacular. The salad was just so-so, but that doner... The meat inside there is nothing short of stellar, as it's a coveted blend of tender and crispy. It's just flawless, really. The fresh bread is a little denser than I would've preferred (ie it takes away from the flavor of the meat), and I'd just order just a plate of meat if I ever go back basically. We waited for the waiter to present us with our cheque, but after another 10 minutes of us staring at our clean plates, we realized this guy wasn't exactly on the ball, so we just went and paid at the counter. I hate to tip less than 18% but we only did 10% and I feel that was generous. It's a shame, really, because man oh man was that meat good. I might return to Kebab 49 again, but only to grab takeout. read more

Love this Turkish restaurant in Etobicoke. Nice atmosphere but more importantly the food is a hit. We ordered the mix grill, the cheese + chicken pizza, the pepperoni pizza, and the chicken shish taouk plate. Let me start by saying, as far as halal pepperoni pizzas go, this is the best in Canada and US I've ever tasted. I had put off trying halal pepperoni because they always taste like plastic and smell strongly of mystery meat. I decided to give this pizza a try because it smelled good and looked safe to eat. And I'm glad I did! The bread, the cheese and the marinated meat (both chicken and "pepperoni") blended in perfect harmony on my tongue. The mixed grill is good enough for 2-3 people I'd say. Also their naans are deliciousness. The place is clean and always busy so it's a nice place to go. Be prepared to wait a bit for your food, it's the only reason I'm docking a star. read more

However, the meet seemed preheated, the waiter didn't bother to ask us about our food or remove any empty dishes, the Sweet we ordered is posted in this review and finally our Turkish coffees were cold! I had a Greek salad w/o Feta & with what appeared to be house made salad dressing. The dressing was ok but not much taste. For the main I had the ground beef Pide. This is a basically Turkish Pizza that's kinda shaped like a row boat. It was tasty but not overly so. Didn't have cheese on it so that may have effected the taste. Great place in a great location. Food: the food here is great. I had a "pide" which is basically a over cook pizza with some amazing spices. Right when you walk in, you can see all the fresh meat, and the kitchen is completely open. You can see them prepare and cook all of the food. The cheese was probably one of the freshest cuts of cheese ive had on a pizza in a long time. Location: super easy to get to by ttc or car. Its right off the 427 along dundas, and steps away from a ttc subway stop. Layout: the layout is great. A small waiting room for quick snacks or waiting for take out. And a very nice dining room that has long booths with very nice woodtop tables and perfrct amount of lighting. Price: perfectly priced for what you get. It was 15.99 for my pide. My SO is Turkish, so when he gets the hankering for Turkish food, this is the place we come to. We've always had good service, although I'll admit that might be because he speaks Turkish to the staff and they all smile and look very friendly when they are chatting away. I've had quite a few different things to eat here. The pide is good. They have a nice brick oven they cook it in. I've also had different kebab and shish plates, and always taste what my SO orders too. The meals are huge! I usually take some home because I want to save room for dessert. They have small, medium and large size of the künefe. It's Sooo good! You have to save room for it. And it's no good taking it home for later. Eat it when it's fresh and hot. Came for takeout on a Friday evening. Saw a gentleman patiently waiting to pickup a prepaid order. The person infront of him was looking at the menu and taking a while so he politely asked Aycha (owner) if he could get his meal and leave. She started raising her voice and screaming at him and then a confrontation started. She said wait till they order, he said if they are taking time, there are many people, give me order and leave. IMHO the owner got unnecessarily rude. This same evening whole waiting for my order I noticed them messing up atleast 4 or 5 orders within a matter of 40 mins, orders were missing items etc and people coming back and complaining. Yes people and restaurants have bad days, but a good business owner should own up to mistakes and fix, instead they kept lying oh we don't know what happened, order now etc. Would not recommend this place... read more
