A couple of times I had to make multiple trips in one day. The staff was always professional and helpful, and almost always had what I needed, which is saying a lot since I managed an old 50-unit building that needed a lot of things for a lot of problems. Sometimes I would grab the wrong thing, and it was never a problem bringing it back and exchanging it for the right thing. Sometimes my boss would get a bit behind in paying for it all, and they would gently remind me, and the ol' slumlord would send them a check from Florida. They were cool but firm about it. It seemed to be a situation they'd been through many times before. They have homey touches here - a small tv on the counter that's always showing something. A fridge with Faygo in the can. My favorite thing about 3rd Ave Hardware is the bicycle selection. In the warmer months there's a whole row chained together on the sidewalk out front. Old ten speeds, 70s 3 speeds, cruisers, mountain bikes, etc. But, wait, there's more inside! Another row between the front door and the register and still more up and down the cramped aisles! (3rd Ave Hardware could really use a more spacious locale.) The prices won't break the bank either. I just bought my second bike from there - a green mountain bike from CCM, that Canadian company that makes hockey equipment. It's a pretty sweet bike for $100. My last one was, too. It was an old 70s 3 speed with a big comfy seat and a glistening orange paint job that just looked like candy. Too bad it got ripped off. Oh well, that's life in the D. I won't pack it in, and I'm glad 3rd Ave won't either. I'm only knocking them down one star because of their paint selection. It's lousy and overpriced. Go somewhere else for paint.

I was looking for a solution for a screen door handle to get a tight fit. He treated me like I was stupid and I should have walked out. I ended up going to Menards where the staff was extremely nice and helpful and pointed me to products that I could try. Damian's solution did not work and I ended up using my solution that I tried to pitch to him while I was in the store. I will never shop again at Hood's.

I am now an almost expert thanks to Patti. She tested oils on her hand, wrist and fingers for me to smell. She explained in detail what I had to do, what I shouldn't do. No rushing me even when another customer needed her help, I was able to peruse the store, as I am known to do no matter what I am there for. I bought the starter kit because although I am very wealthy (tongue firmly in cheek), I am that way because I start small and go big when needed (insert smiley face here). Thank you, Patti.

Ruined Mother's Day Plans - Missing Delivery & No Help from Store…read more I placed a next-day delivery order from Ace Hardware for a Mother's Day garden project. Instead of using their delivery service, they sent it with DoorDash. The order was marked as delivered--but it never arrived. No items. No proof of delivery. I contacted the store, and they said they couldn't help. I also asked them to cancel a separate pickup order, but instead they marked it as "picked up," even though I never received that either. Now I'm out the money for two orders and still fighting for a refund. No resolution, just a lot of frustration. Ace Hardware dropped the ball big time. I'll be rethinking any future business with them.

Employee says money will be refunded to my checking account in a couple days! Excuse me, you literally overcharged me and now are going to hold the funds for a few days! I don't care about the money - it's the principle period - your employee fucked up and I shouldn't have to wait until your systems process the return! This used to be my go to place years ago. Just moved back in the area, first time back since and will NEVER be back! I'm half tempted to return everything and go to tractor supply as still in the lot pretty pissed off!

Self-checkout fury as customers threaten to boycott Lowe's and go to Ace Hardware…read more Self-checkouts have been blamed for people losing their jobs and there is now an ongoing pushback against the technology being used, as one retailer found out.  Ace Hardware in Wyandotte Mi, a 2nd generation owner Jerry Jr. grew up in his father's store.  The negative experience of zero cashiers at Lowe's has me visiting Ace Hardware much more.  Ace sends me 2 coupons each month $5 off $20 a mega deal 25 percent off.  And I get points every purchase towards another free $5 many times each year.  A fast Friendly crew always ready to help.  Been a customer 35 plus years for a great reason .  Thanks Dawn the manager and Jerry the owner .  Seriously Ace corporate needs to make a commercial to promote No Self Checkouts in our stores .  @acehardware #acehardware

I mistakenly had my items shipped to this HD. My eyes saw Allen Rd and instantly assumed "Allen…read morePark". I was nervous after seeing the reviews and tried to change my orders location. I was told attempting the change would require a full cancellation and need to reorder. I moved forward with this location and was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted by three staffers at the door who directed me to where I needed to go. Upon walking over to customer I was kindly greeted by more staff. I called for my order and two gentlemen assisted by placing my order of two heavy toilets into my crossover vehicle. From what I saw the store was very clean. Though my time in the store was short and I only picked up items, I saw it befitting to highlight my experience which was contrary to the reflection of this store's low stars.
