While home in CT on a short vacation, I wanted to do some genealogy research that I have not been able to complete due to living across the country. I walked in later in the afternoon yesterday and had just missed their resident researcher. I was asked if I could come back today where I could spend some time going through files. I went back in this morning and was blown away by the amount of information that I found. I already knew that I was eligible to work on membership to the DAR for my family, but Diane, the resident researcher, went above and beyond to find many other details about our family from even farther back than that. Deeds, a family book of genealogy, and pictures were amongst the finds today. I grew up in Danbury, but never really got into the history of the city until over the past few years. I admire what the historical society is doing and that they will take you in with open arms and help you with your research. They survive on donations so make sure that you donate something for the time that they give to preserve the history of the town.

I've been wanting to check out Grace Farms for a while now and finally got the chance to go…read morerecently (when the weather was absolutely perfect). The farm is free to attend and roam around, and it's great for dates or hanging out with friends. There is extensive grounds and beautiful architecture. A recent sold-out lecture by Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer was inspiring, challenging and warmly entertaining. It was followed by a marvelous chamber music concert featuring a collection mostly contemporary works influenced by a connection with nature. Grace Farms' mission is to support nature, arts, justice, community and faith. It's a much-appreciated place to refocus and refuel in these difficult times.

It was hands one which I loved but the main reason we went there was for the drones and they were broken when we got there. We haven't had the chance to try their eggs, but hear from friends that their eggs are great and they sell out quickly, which makes sense. Sometimes, they have fresh veggies out for sale too. It's a cash or check honor system, which is a miracle to still find these days... and something very special that every child should get to experience, understand and appreciate. When cows are out in the pasture enclosure closer to the dairy store entrance area, this is also very cool to see.
