We tried to play table shuffle board with the disc and sand on board but apx 6-8 kids ranging in age from 5-10 were throwing the pucks back and forth, knocking all the sand off the table, and their parents, one table away completely ignored them. Beer and wine were good, service pretty decent, but the kids really put a damper on this visit so we didn't order the wings we wanted. All of our other visits have been fine, some wonderful, today, not so much. One mom actually "lost" her kid and frantically searched for her. Welp, she was by the elevator on the way out. I realize you try to please everyone but staff and parents totally ignored potential harm to equipment and guests. Overall though, great place with good swag.

We let her know back in January 13 of 2015 that we would have a guest list of 65 and that she would work with us since the minimum was 75. She showed us two different rooms, my fiance and I let her know we wanted to use one room for the reception and the other room for the wedding ceremony. We told her our wedding date would be April 22, 2016, she told us that the dinner price would go up because of the year and month we decided on but not by much, she told us that that wouldn't be a problem since people usually don't get married on a Friday so we would be able to have both rooms, however, she told us if a bigger wedding party were to want to hold their wedding at their establishment on the same day as our wedding, we would be forced to use the smaller room for the reception and the wedding ceremony. We told her we would need to talk about this, finally my fiance and I emailed her and decided to finally put a deposit down. I emailed Margot on March 16 of 2015 and let her know that we would like to put a deposit down for April 22, 2016, Margot proceeded to tell me that that day was booked and that we would have to pick a different day even though she told us that we would've been forced to use the smaller room if someone with a bigger wedding party booked the same day as us. She also let me know that the minimum is 75 period even though she said that she would work with us because we had a wedding party of 65. I let her know that that was absurd and we decided to go with another wedding venue, she proceeded to tell me that all contracts do these types of changes and to read a contract carefully, that the minimum has change and she told us this from the beginning even though she said she doesn't want to turn business away and that she would work with us with the minimum amount of people we had. At that point I stopped emailing Margot and my fiance and I actually put a deposit down with a better establishment that won't screw us over and that because we put a deposit down that the whole place is ours period. The Matrix should know better than to do business like this, you just don't say one thing and do another thing, it's very shady. This is how you don't do business.

In Ridgefield Ct. a beautiful estate hosts the community's events. Known better as the Lounsbury House, this beautifully preserved property is the place to have your wedding or event. Originally named Grove Lawn, the Lounsbury House at 316 Main St., was built in 1896 by a former Connecticut governor, Phineas Lounsbury, who was born and raised in Ridgefield. While he attended the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, also known as the Columbian Exposition, he saw a replica of the Connecticut State Building on display. He commissioned the original Bridgeport architect to build a replica of the Connecticut State Building, so that upon his retirement from politics, he would have it to serve as his residence in Ridgefield. The Georgian Revival house exhibits the elegance and style he wanted to reflect Connecticut's hospitality. Lounsbury and his wife Jenny lived and entertained their friends at the house until his death in 1920. Since they did not have any children, the house was passed onto their heirs. Eventually, the house was purchased by the Town of Ridgefield. In 1953, it became the Ridgefield Veterans Memorial Community Center. Now on the National Register of Historic Places, the Lounsbury House is a non-profit association and proceeds from its fund-raisers, membership fees and rentals go towards the preservation, maintenance and operational cost of the home. I was present for the Ridgefield "Gone Country" barbeque contest which raises funds for the local Rotary club. The association hosts house tours, concerts, luncheons, picnics, fireworks and more. The July 20, 2018 Lobster & Clambake featuring 1 1/2 lb Maine lobsters, steamers and muscles is not to be missed.

It's a church... it's a house... no, it's The Meeting House!…read more It has a spire, pews, an organ, a giant cross on the front wall... but it's not a church, I guess! Still, it's a quaint old structure, built in the 1600's when Newtown was first becoming a town. In fact, decades ago, The entire building was moved back a few dozen feet to make room for Main Street. Yeah, it's that old :). It was a lovely place for our friends to host their wedding. It's located right at the iconic flagpole that marks the center of Newtown. So when you burst out those front doors, married to your new spouse, filled with glee and joy, all of Newtown, Connecticut will be watching.

It doesn't really make much sense to have a listing for the gallery when there's not even a listing for the VPAC itself, or even for Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) Westside Campus at all. The gallery is barely mentioned on the VPAC web page, and after attending a performance at the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall, I'm still not sure where the gallery is located. Typical lack of curation by Yelp. At least the address is correct this time.

This review is for the Visual and Performing Arts Center in general, not specifically the gallery…read more I saw a production of "Bat Boy: The Musical" here and was impressed with the space. The building is very modern and has an interesting design. There are various spaces for different types of art within the center. I was in the theater, which was comfortable with big seats (not those tiny things like in Broadway houses) and the sound, lighting and temperature were great. The production of "Bat Boy" was also great. There is a gallery in the Visual Art wing and there is also a concert hall in the building, which I didn't get to see. This is a really cool building and definitely something the campus should be proud of.
