I hear there are a lot of knife sharpeners on the island, but not many have a Yelp or web site. I went to Keen because I could find them on the web and get directions. I took my very vintage, but good quality sewing sheers to be fixed up and sharpened. I was so pleased, I took back a cooking knife and pruning sheers and more scissors. My thickness planer had the blades sharpened here. Wonderful job, for folks who do wood work you probably know what "snipe" is. Well when the blades were placed into the lunchbox planer, all snype disappeared. A second addition to the shop wad a new thickness planer, It had snype out-of-the-box. Like the new blades weren't sharp. Keen Kutter, sharpened them and all the snype is gone. Sharp blades eliminates waste and cuts perfectly. Highly recommended for serious wood workers. read more

Brought in three knives that throughout the year had become so dull that they were useless, if not dangerous. The only available options were Keen Kutter and buying new knives. Dropped them off on a Friday morning and got a call Monday morning letting me know they were ready. Cost me all of $10. The knives are now as sharp as they were when I first bought them. Did such a great job on my wusthof knives. I'm like hell yea, knife guy kicks ass every time I use them now. Pretty sure they've been restored to better than new. Cash only under $20. I have a collection of 5 Shun knives and a Shun cleaver that haven't been sharpened since I first purchased them 3 years ago. Only knife-sharpening service on Oahu is Keen Kutter, so I took all six blades to them last Wednesday. They're in an easy-to-find location, but parking can be tricky if they have more than 2 or 3 customers visiting them at the same time. They promised them to me five days later, but called me on Friday morning (less than 2 days later) to tell me the knives were ready. I went over that same afternoon...total bill was $26.13. I inspected each one and am very impressed with the work they did on them. Great edges that respect the integrity of the blades. They even removed an irritating burr on the end of my favorite knife. They were obviously machine-sharpened, but with good skill. I will undoubtedly use them again in the future for all my sharpening work. read more
