The building is easy to find, plenty of parking, and somewhat accessible. The parking lot is unpaved so not smooth in spots and can be messy in the rain/snow. There are steps and a short ramp into the building (looks a bit steep to me) and if you are staying overnight there is no elevator - the rooms are up one flight of stairs so be prepared. Jordan checked us in and we were all set in a couple minutes. There is a snack station in the hallway upstairs - Keurig, bottled water, chips, cookies - available all the time. Hair dryers and an ironing board are also in the hallway if you need them. The Suzie room is spacious with a fireplace and wall heating unit - both have remotes - and was very cozy. There are 4 windows (corner room) with magnetic (?) blinds but no drapes. The blinds work well but do not block out enough light at night - drapes would help - so the room does not get dark at night due to the streetlights. The bathroom has a surround with a shower that works well and gets nice & hot, and a toilet. The sink is outside the bathroom and is a very pretty ceramic bowl. I also loved the smooth, wide, wooden plank floors. We could hear footsteps & muffled voices from downstairs during business hours but it was quiet at night. The building is old and has been lovingly renovated. It's has a cozy, country charm with antiques and knickknacks throughout. We had dinner with family in the restaurant the night we arrived. Good menu selection and the food was great. Margaret (the owner) made us breakfast in the morning (available from 7-9am) and that was lovely! If you need something just ask - she was able to get us another box of tissues (we don't need much lol). We heard that the building might be haunted - ghost hunters (the TV show) has visited. We stayed for 3 nights and I did not hear, see, feel or otherwise sense any spirits in our room. Maybe in the other rooms? We would definitely stay here again in the future!

The decor was great - the flow of the room was a little awkward, with low dressers and desks - but that's the style ... no harm done. Each room is styled and decorated with a different theme. Their restaurant is the A+ factor for this property. Everything is made fresh to order and was a pleasant experience. We are planning on coming back and visiting the Arlington Inn.

Carpet ..get rid of the carpet and make it more traditional with wood floors and a few throws. . Add a few nice bath products not the cheapest out there...just saying. Didn't feel clean, seemed very dusty and with allergies that doesn't help. Room 8 is very dark and the bath is across the hall which is fine but then provide a washable robe. Breakfast was ok. Hot coffee, fresh muffins and a choice of fresh French toast or a baked oatmeal bar with apples.

I arrived at this easy to find B & B right off of route 9 just after 4 and Brian met me and guided me to my room. I loved the eclectic old feel and a room without a TV and a fridge was of no consequence to me. When I booked the room all I wanted was a clean quiet room and Victoria - Brian's wife said "it was pub night on Wednesday and there would be some people eating there and there may be some noise to 9:00 PM". As I had a business dinner in Brattleboro, one this would not bother me and two - when I got to my room at 8:30 I could not even hear the any noise from "crowd" of regulars. But when I peaked in it looked like a place and a dinner/drinks I would have enjoyed. The small bar and larger pub room with a roaring fireplace is on my list to enjoy next time, but this time I was fast asleep to get up early for skiing the next day. I showered and pack and went down for a cup of coffee - wow was I surprised. I am a bit of a coffee snob as I buy fresh roasted beans and grind it right before brewing...but this coffee was GREAT! From a small roaster in Greenfield, Victoria was keen on the sourcing of everything! She convinced me to have a little breakfast and the eggs and flaky croissant with four berry jam that was just what I needed. It lasted me a full day of skiing. The bonus was eating it in a comfortable dining area with a view down the hill to a beaver pond - with blue jays and cardinals to keep me company. So nice, so inviting, so open to conversation, I really enjoyed the trip. If my business proposal takes off, I will be staying here more often. Thank you, Brian and Victoria, for a wonderful stay!

The Inn is currently being renovated, but what they have accomplished thus far is amazing. It is simply beautiful and charming, with extraordinary attention to detail. The restaurant/bar was not open for service, but we were able to bring our own supplies and enjoy ourselves in that room. I cannot wait to return and see what they have done to the place since my last visit.

A great jumping off spot for driving around the local area. And the Inn itself was fantastic too, starting with Jeff who was very helpful and welcoming. Robin took our reservation over the phone and she also was very friendly. The breakfasts were very good and it was great to hang out behind the Inn where there is a large pond. We did do a trip up to Woodstock and truthfully we were very happy that we were staying at the Whetstone Inn rather than someplace in Woodstock. Way more relaxing I think. It was our first visit to New England and it might be a while before we get back but when we do, we'll be staying at the Whetstone Inn. Go, you'll love it.

With that being known I knew there wouldn't be an issue securing a room. I called and spoke to David and explained I had an emergency and would like to book a room for the night. I asked David if he had vacancy (knowing there were only 3 cars total in the parking area) and he told me NO! I never asked what the rate was because I didn't care, I was going to pay whatever he requested of me. But to hear David tell me he didn't have vacancy and know this was a full blown lie was absurd to me. I would never recommend a business to anyone that treats potential customers like this. Very sad and disappointed to say the least.

You know the drill with cheap places like this: 1) They all smell like mold and stale cigarettes. 2) There is zero to no service. 3) You get what you pay for. My bed smelled like an ashtray; although, the room itself did not smell nearly as bad. The bathroom had just been refurbished (the sticker was still on the shower!). I shudder to think what it looked like before. The vending machines do not work. There is no overnight staff. The lobby is locked after hours. "Breakfast" really is just free coffee. Everything in the area is closed at night, the McDonald's and Wendy's next door, the gas stations. Everything. So, get provisions before you check in for the night, if you need anything.

Bones is free coffee in the morning. If you're looking for something more in Vermont during Ski season, you're going to pay three to four times as much. Easy on and off RT 91 covenant to RT 30. The only thing is the air fresher in the lobby, but it's not used throughout the hotel. But the best part, NO PETS stayed in a place down the street and had a allergy induced asthma attack as soon as I walked in the room.
