Hello followers and welcome to my "Dog Park" review…read more So living west of Fort Worth has a lot of perks, like no big city traffic. But yet there is not a lot out here either. I'll start this review by saying, make sure there was no rain prior. This place makes Lake Placid look like a dried up pothole. I will give them a thumbs up though, they added a swim area. It's a 5 foot blue pool from Walmart. Nice adder. They did add as well a obstacle course. That's pretty cool. I was thinking about me running it if I wouldn't get stuck in the tube. The entire property is secured by a large white privacy fence and a 6 foot cyclone fence. The grass is well maintained and the trimmings also. It does have a nice shaded area with a bench for us people. It has three bag areas for the poop. Trash cans right below it. There some shaded trees in the middle that give comfort from the scorching heat. They do have a large and small dog.

I have a German Shepherd, a Doberman and a Puggle. I take all of them to the big dog side and have never had any issues. People are always so friendly, it's a ginormous park with some agility equipment towards the back, 2 water stations, It's pretty clean so you don't have to constantly look where you're walking for land mines - nice! Plenty of seating so it accommodates a lot of people without feeling crowded. Covered picnic tables, benches under the trees and along the fence lines. They always leave there totally exhausted which is why I take them to begin with. Like everywhere else it does get and stays muddy after a good rain storm but they do have a wash off station right outside of the gate so bring a towel, it's nothing fancy for sure but it does the job. I did see a couple of scuffles but like all good parents they immediately separated them and then they saw the aggressor and his daddy took him home for a time out. Okay, the only reason for the 4 star- a random guy commented on my dogs and when I asked him which dog was his he said he didn't have one, he just liked to come and watch everyone else's. I was getting ready to leave soon anyway so it just kicked me into high gear. It just seemed off, maybe he really liked dogs and I read too much into it????

My friend and I enjoyed walking the overlook trail, including seeing the views of the lake. The weather was sunny and breezy and we got a good workout. I like that they don't allow dogs here to preserve their wildlife. We saw a couple of deer on our walk which was lovely. We look forward to our next visit to Eagle Mountain Park.

Eagle Mountain Park has great hiking trails along with some scenic views. One of the best features…read moreof this park is that it's pedestrian only and there are no bikes or dogs allowed. This makes for a great hiking experience. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge lover of dogs, but I love that this park is working to preserve the nature, plus some of the trails are steep and it would be heinous to make your dog venture up and down some of these more aggressive slopes. Nonetheless, I still saw two people bring their dogs out... some people simply have no regard for guidelines to protect the nature and not create an undue burden on your dog. Sigh. This is truly one of the best places in DFW if you are serious about hiking. There is a 500 feet elevation gain on the trail by the lake and this makes for great views and an easy way to get your heart rate up. There is ample parking and admission to the park is free. The only downside I would mention is the only restroom facilities are two port-o-potties and they were disgusting. One was out of toilet paper and there are no sinks to wash up. I don't know why people feel the need to make a bad situation worse by urinating all over the seat and trashing the facilities. Other than that, Eagle Mountain Park is a great choice for a semi-challenging hike site in DFW. The views are also a great reward for your efforts!

The registration process was a little annoying, as I had issues getting the website to work, but once I was registered, it was easy to figure out. A day pass is about $13. The menu was limited, but the chicken was really good! My friends enjoyed their sandwiches and drinks too. I appreciated that they had a separate area for small dogs. There was plenty of seating and there were a few staff members around making sure the dogs didn't get too rowdy. Getting to the bathrooms was a little confusing and difficult as they're located on the patio and you have to fully exit and scan yourself back in after. I'll be back to Mutts again soon. My dog and I both had a good time.
