I have an older Schwinn women's bike that is used occasionally and noticed the wheels were dry…read morerotted, and more importantly, the rear wheel did not have a quick release, so I decided to take the bike to this shop for the first time to change both tires, tubes, and rear wheel axle (8 speed). For context, I recently completed the Eagleman so I have the experience of getting flats and knowledge of how to change a bike tire. I just wanted the pros to look it over. Dropped it off and they noticed part of the seat was detached. Ryan called with the estimate, he offered to replace the seat with a good condition used seat. Estimate seemed reasonable overall so went ahead without seeing the seat. Picked it up within the 2 week estimate, seat was blue, matched the blue bike nicely. Looked up the parts they used on Amazon. Highly rated and charged me basically what I would have paid. Labor was very reasonable. Very pleased with what I asked for and received.

The man behind the counter talked with me about where and how I fish and what I'm using now and made a suggestion I wasn't expecting - a Shimano baitcaster. I took him up on the offer and got some new line spooled on it, and bought a few other bits of gear. I had no idea what line to really put on it and the owner of the shop "The Bald Guy" lol suggested 12 for what I was doing and another man spooled it up for me. They gave me some local fishing pointers while I was there, and this was all within maybe 5 minutes of their trying to close up and go home. The next day I practiced with the reel and absolutely loved it. Their recommendation was right on, and I didn't pay a penny more for this reel than I would have online, but I got to support a Maryland business, where not only do the salaries stay in Maryland but the profits do as well, and I got to support a local tackle shop which you may have noticed are dwindling. All without spending any more money than I would have anywhere else and with the benefit of people who fish these waters every week giving me real (reel?) advice. Next day I returned with the wife and picked up some more advice and some more gear. Two great visits in a row. This is a true local shop that has a very large supply of gear and advice from real fishermen on tap for you. I love the personalized attention and honest advice you can only really get in a Mom and Pop shop and it's great to be supporting local Maryland businesses.
