Not only did she walk me through the process but she explained what she was going to do and took time to show me how to get the bustle looking great. Unfortunately I didn't have the greatest experience here even though this place was recommended to me by the store that I bought my dress at. When I went for my first appointment, Sylvia pinned the sides and the hem, and said that she would make all the changes, but wouldn't cut any fabric off until I could come in to try the dress on again. When I went to my second appointment, it had all been cut, and the length, back zipper, and sleeves were all wrong. She cut too much off the length and the dress couldn't be fixed. I had to come in for fittings for my wedding dress a few times, and every time I felt like like the dress had become more and more overworked and ill-fitting. When I picked it up I felt like it didn't fit even though we had talked about the final fit and all the changes that would be made. I wasn't happy with the dress at all, but didn't entirely trust this place to do any more work on my dress. So I contacted another tailor and had them do a rush fix job since my wedding was only 1 week away. They showed me that there were problems with the bust, and the sleeves and hem were completely uneven (like, inches different on each side). The overall craftsmanship was really messy. I'm so disappointed because I initially felt like I was in good hands here, but the work done on my dress completely ruined it. read more

When my wedding dress came in it was measured incorrectly to be almost two inches too small in my hips. The bridal shop owner at Enchanted ensured that we could let out the hips and it would be fine. I came to see Sylvia, she did her review of the dress and said we will start with the let out of the hip and I would come back. When I arrived at my second appointment the dress was still too small, I could barely walk and I could not sit down. Sylvia had let out everything she could. It wasnt until I broke down crying thinking, this is not how this experience is suppose to be. The magical and amazing Sylvia said, we can fix this. She cut into the sides and created patches to open up the hips more, took lace from the bottom hem to overlay and you cannot even tell it was altered. Sylvia is hands down the greatest thing to happen to me during this wedding gown experience. She nearly brought me to the happiest of tears because I truly love my dress now. We originally were going to have my dress altered through the boutique we bought my wedding dress, but when we went in for our first appointment we couldn't believe how rude the lady was and they were going to charge us $700 for alterations!!! Sylvia and Aksana are miracle workers. They took a fully beaded size 14 ball gown and altered to fit my size 4 body. Since I lived out of town, she was able to make the alterations in two fittings. The alterations were quick and moderately priced for having to remove all of the beading and cut the dress down more than half the original size. They even offered to sew in cups for me and make my veil to match my dress perfectly. I could not have been happier with the results of my gown. The two felt like family and I loved the fact that it's a small shop and not a corporation. My father picked out my wedding dress and I wanted it to be perfect. She charged me under $100 for hemming, added bust, and sewing a few parts of my mother dress onto mine. She is also hemming my mother dress for under $50. Sylvia is wonderful! I found her to be honest and her pricing was very fair. There was a moment of panic when I went in and found that my dress was taken in too much and my bustle was added in the wrong place (a different woman had worked on it) two weeks before the wedding but Sylvia was great at making sure it was fixed before the wedding. The bodice did end up popping out a little but it wasn't the end of the world. Overall I would definitely recommend taking your dress to Sylvia! read more

I purchased my dress from Alfred Angelo and Sylvia was assigned to do my alterations. I visited them in their Rancho Cordova location since it saved me a lot of drive time in lieu of going all the way to Alfred Angelo in Roseville. It's in a business park so it takes a little time to find their small sign, the location is just a bit of office space, nothing like a showroom or boutique, just a functional but private room with carpet and mirrors. After my first fitting the dress needed to be taken in quite a bit, and at my second fitting we made adjustments to the style since I wanted to add off the shoulder sleeves. They showed me how the bustle would look once it was tucked up for dancing, and I told them honestly I wasn't crazy about it. To me, once it was bustled it looked sloppy and took away from the overall symmetry of the dress. Sylvia worked with her assistant who suggested a more complicated style of bustle. They pinned everything up differently and I loved the way it looked! Sylvia mentioned there would be some additional charges for the work, but it only amounted to $40. I was very pleased and the dress really was what I envisioned and I got tons of compliments on it. If you are in search of a capable seamstress I think you can trust Sylvia. read more

I took my wedding dress to be altered and we were ready to do the first fitting in less than a week. My dad is not well and we needed to move our ceremony to tomorrow. I needed to get a special occasion dress altered for a big event and brought it to Sylvia with less than a month to spare. I contacted her through Yelp and she responded almost immediately. We set an appointment for a few days later. When I arrived the location was easy to find and private which I appreciated. You see I am trans/gender fluid and so wasn't sure how I would be received. Sylvia was ever the professional and even threw in some humor while we did the initial fitting. She made it fast and fun. While trying on the dress, Sylvia suggested I might think about growing a larger butt....which made me laugh! When I picked up my dress a couple weeks later she suggested a best time for me to arrive in the interest of privacy and I appreciated that. The dress fit amazingly, and I felt SO wonderful at my event! My dress is strapless and I didn't have the typical fights keeping it in place! ...even through a night of dancing! Yay! I was referred to Keepsake Bridal Alterations by the place I purchased my dress, Enchanted Bridal Shoppe. I will not go into detail, but my overall experience was poor. Yes, she's been in business for several years, but I felt because of that, she thought she knew what she was doing and never listened to my concerns and would say things like "I can't do that" because of the way my dress was made. I've never had alterations of such a huge dress done before so I don't know if this is normal. By the second and third fitting, I was very nervous and was ready to bring my dress elsewhere or even purchase a new dress, but so much had been done on my dress already and my wedding date was so close. When everything was "done" and paid for, I thought it was just the stress of the wedding and it probably wasn't that bad but now looking back at the wedding photos, my dress could have fitted and looked a lot better. I know Enchanted Bridal Shoppe is a huge store and recommends this place, but I would tell you to go elsewhere as one experienced bride. A few thoughts: #1 I recently moved to the area and did not have any friends or family come along for the fittings so having someone there may have made a difference. #2 As I was waiting for my second fitting, there was another bride there for her final fitting. She expressed to me about the many times she had to return to make the dress correct and her wedding was just two days away! (So, I can't be the only one who feels this way.) read more

She was very sweet and reassuring that, yes, despite the place I got my dress from completely dropping the ball, she would do everything she could to guarantee my dress was done and ready by my wedding.
