I'm giving 2 stars for the price. I brought in 5 dresses, one of which is a bridesmaid dress for a wedding in 2 weeks, to get hemmed since they were too long. I read reviews on how Tita has reasonable and affordable prices, and a quick turnaround. I didn't think to ask ahead of time for the price since I've had basic hemming done in past for around $35 by other tailors. After trying on all 5 dresses to measure the length, she tells me the hemming will cost $70-$90 PER DRESS, depending on "how wide the bottom of the dress is." The fabric of all the dresses were chiffon. This price was absurd to me! I purchased each dress for about those prices (Lulus)!! After spending an hour trying on the dresses, I decided to just have her hem just the bridesmaid dress since I needed that one right away, begrudgingly, given the price. Dropped off dress on Tuesday after work, was ready for pick up Friday after work. She did a good job, granted it was a basic hem. I told her $90 was too much and she decided to charge me $80. She was nice but I will not go back to get my dresses hemmed. Moral of the story: call ahead of time for a quote and ask ahead of time for price before trying on dresses. Brought my bridesmaid dress here to get the hem shortened. Not gonna lie eyes bugged out a little at the price although most everyone else on yelp says she has the best pricing in this area, so im not sure if another place would have charged me more...but the fact that she was going to have it ready the very next evening AND she also ironed it so it was event ready, I'm ok with paying the price for good quality. When I picked up my dress I also mentioned I'd like to come back to her when she returns from her month-long vacation to have her repair 3 items that had rips in them. She said no need to wait until I come back bring them back tomorrow. I brought them back the next morning at 9:30, she said she could have them fixed by 11!! So fast! 2 had holes at the seams (1 was a large split down the butt area) and the 3rd item she added a hook so it would close since the zipper was broken. My 9 year daughter is Dorothy in a big play. We had to provide the costumes, so I ordered a pretty dorothy dress and ruby red slippers on a amazon way in advance. I had her try on the shoes which fit perfect and I forgot to have her try on the dress :( so 1 day before dress rehearsals we have her try it on and the straps are way too big and the dress was kind of baggy looking. I signed up for yelp just to write a review for Tita. She is a very nice lady with amazing skills in terms of tailoring and alteration work. I spent $$$$ buying a pair of brand jeans online and it turned out that it was too long and too big. Thanks Yelp, I found Tita. I called her on the same day around 10pm and scheduled a drop-off at 12pm. When I came in, she patiently listened to all my expectations on my jeans and then explained to me what needed to be done and how much these procedures would cost. I could tell how hard those procedures would be because that pair of jeans was hand-made. Then we agreed on a very acceptable price and I was told to come back "the day after tomorrow", which is today. I just got my jeans back and I am absolutely impressed by Tita's work. In short, I could't even tell that there is work done on the jeans because it looks just perfect and perfectly fits. She also made me a beautiful custom veil using the lace off my mother's wedding gown, which I got an endless amount of compliments on. A few months later, I bought a vintage coat that was too big. Tita Rose is great!! She is a cute and friendly lady who works out of her home to do the alterations. The first piece of clothing I had done from her was a formal dress. I needed it shortened and I wanted the front of the dressed closed (because it was a sexy style dress that had a slit running down the entire front). I was leaving for the event in 3 days so wasn't looking to get it back sooner than 2 days but Tita Rose had it ready for me the following morning. I know you'd think that with an alteration on a formal dress that was ready so quickly the quality might lack - but no, Tita Rose did an amazing job and the dress looked even better than when I originally came in. In fact, she did such a great job that you'd think I bought the dress the way it was. Since she did such a great job with my dress alterations I didn't think twice as to who could do my dress pants alterations. I gave her 3 pairs of pants, I wanted them all tapered and hemmed and she did a great job with all three pairs. Once again, I was leaving on a trip and needed the pants within a short amount of time, but she was able to finish them within the day.. which is pretty spectacular if you ask me. And ofcourse, the quality of her work was wonderful. I rarely bring Tita an easy project. The clothes that I bring her tend to be very high end, with unusual draping, pleating, or unforgiving (and often antique) fabric. This last project was no exception. I brought mission impossible. I brought her an amazing full length skirt, with unusual and dramatic box pleating, and I needed it to go from a size 8 to a size 16. I knew we had enough fabric to work with... but could it be done? Undaunted... not only did she masterfully retain every element that made the skirt classic and unique, but she did it in 2-days. Even the hidden pockets were saved. I'll have this skirt for many years, and was happy to invest in its customization. Another amazing experience with Tita! I had 3 things altered today and they all came out 10x better than I expected. 1. Wedding dress: I bought a Free People dress for my wedding in 2 weeks and there was a TON of things that needed to be done since I'm hobbit size. I needed the length shortened, back straps taken out, neckline elongated, and bust lined. It was A LOT. I am a seamstress and make clothing, but I wasn't even willing to take on this task. She did it for $25. I gave her more because I think for the amount of work, there was no way I was only going to give her what she quoted. 2. Denim pants: She hemmed the bottom to perfection. It seriously looks like it just came straight from the Urban Outfitters manufacturing warehouse. 3. Black dress pants: I have never been able to find dress pants that fit me. I'm 4'11, have virtually no behind, and oddly shaped hips (or whatever is on the sides of my body). Yesterday I found the PERFECT pair of Banana Republic high waisted pants (I'm still crying about this find) and was really nervous about having anyone hem them in case the length got cut too short and they'd be ruined forever. Well, as expected, Tita did an amazing job. They are flawless. I dropped off all my things this morning at 9am, and everything was finished at noon. She also had another client that needed work done today too and she did those as well. Are you kidding?! All of it was quoted $45, a total steal. If you're reading this, please see her! She works magic. As if I wasn't excited enough for my wedding, now I can finally BREATHE that my dress is taken care of and turned out way better than I could've dreamed of.
