I called the guy to do an insurance survey and all I got " was sorry too busy bye " and immediately hung up the phone . I would understand if I needed a survey done this week but my survey is not due until February. Jeff didn't even want to hear out to put it on the schedule. Yeah you're busy now you might not be busy in February . I am also self-employed and run several employees so I understand how small businesses work. This is an odd review because I was the seller in my interactions with Jeff but there are a couple crucial things to consider if you're going to work with Jeff. Buyers - please go over the report with the seller. There were multiple inaccuracies in the report he presented his client. They represent either inattention or incompetence in some areas. Sellers - see above. Also, thoroughly go through your boat after Jeff has been on it. There were multiple issues but I think the worst by far was leaving the bilge pump OFF. I highly recommend Jeff Keiser Marine. He did a pre-purchase survey of a Rafiki 37 for me. It's not a common boat, but Jeff was familiar with them. He's very professional, conscientious, communicative, friendly, informative, and makes sure to take the time to explain anything that might be helpful going forward as the potential owner. Brokers may not look forward to his rigorous inspections, but his professional and easy to work with approach was also helpful in working with the previous owner and the broker. Jeff is very thorough in his knowledge and in his work. He pointed out numerous instances where I would want to correct something to conform to standards or best practices, including catching several that had been improperly done by recognized shops or other professionals. I read that many surveyors won't climb masts, but Jeff did and caught a number of issues to correct. I've read several surveys and Jeff's was not only more in-depth and comprehensive than others I've read, filled with the numerous recommendations he had pointed out to me, but also done surprisingly quickly. Jeff recently did a fantastic job on a pre-purchase survey of a 35 foot sailboat for me. He arrived promptly at 9am and spent the entire day going through every nook and cranny of the vessel, including climbing the mast for a rig inspection. I found Jeff through his many great reviews online from first-time boat buyers extolling his patient, thorough, and friendly approach, and I have to say, he fully lived up to his reputation. I asked him to survey a 1967 Chinook 34, and he was on time, well prepared, and carefully answered (and explained his answers) to all of my inexperienced questions. Being an old boat, she had plenty of issues, but I felt very comfortable taking the leap on a restoration project that's still ready to sail. His report was much more than a simple laundry list of inventory items on the boat.
