Keith is a professional and personable dentist who I have been using for years. His Dental work is outstanding and all his staff are friendly and good at what they do. Recently I was referred to another dentist for a root canal and while they did a good job I was 'surprised' by their telling me--in the middle of my procedure--what the bill would be, and after finishing, told me they didn't take my dental insurance, I felt blindsided. I had booked about 2 weeks ahead of time & they had time to inform me that they wouldn't take my insurance. Here's the deal, I contacted Keith's office and they intervened for me, agreeing with me I should have been told ahead of time and got the other office to submit a claim to my insurance. I felt supported and that they went out ot their way to help me and this I deeply appreciate. read more

Dr. Henderson has been my dentist for a couple of years. I had a bad experience with another dentist and came here. I love that they make their crowns in house when I had an issue. I needed a partial crown for a back tooth. It was my first time needing a crown too so I was a bit nervous. With Dr Henderson you are in good hands. He has an efficient office. I had a great review before but now I have joined the others who were left stunned. After years of being a customer we had to move on. I had to reschedule my appointment due to circumstances I could not control. I left a message 48 hours before the time of the appointment. I received a call from Tracy, the insurance coordinator. She interrogated me asking me why again I was unable to make the appointment as I had left two messages with different reasons. That was not true. I had a family matter that was none of their concern. The concern was for me to call and cancel the appointment ahead of time. I actually was hoping to reschedule . However much back and forth and no backing down it came to her needing to disconnect the call. Also she reminded me of the policy of the service fee. The service fee had changed too from $75 to $100 but they forgot to change that in their texts to clients. So we need to be transparent about our own personal issues and they can't with the fee. We have been there for years giving our money and they were pulling the plug on a lousy fee. So we have moved on. Be warned the 48 hour notice is business days. Also they will not excuse your needing to cancel. It isn't their business to know in the long run and they lost a customer. read more

After being a patient of Dr. Henderson for several years and being pleased with the quality of care provided I was suddenly and without explanation expelled me from his practice. I discovered months after the fact that he had not only collected hundreds of dollars from me for dental servicez rendered but also collected payment in full from my dental insurance company. When I discovered the double payment and had the temerity to request a refund of what he had collected from me, I received a check some weeks later together with the discontinuance notice. I have been seeing Dr Henderson for over 20 years...I cancelled my appointment over the weekend (for a Monday) due to a work emergency. Please be aware that Ashley & Tracy are around to charge you $75 when you cancel an appointment not within their 2 business days. It's a policy that they have and they will not deviate from. I feel this office has no loyalty towards their patients and are only in it for the money and not for dental care or the well being of the people they see. Very disappointing and a total bummer but when a business shows you who they are...you have to believe them. From my experience working with them today, I truly think this Dental office cares about $$$ only... Interestingly enough my entire family stopped seeing Dr Henderson many years ago due to some uncomfortable social posts coming from their office. I stuck it out with them b/c I liked them and will chalk this up to a "teachable moment". As an update to my initial review, my new dentist indicated that none of Dr. Henderson's purportions of expensive necessary services that he wanted to perform were necessary or even suggestive of areas of a developing problem. Buyer Beware!!! This dentist will tell you that you need all sorts of procedures and tests done in order to treat your teeth. He said that everything would be paid for by the insurance company which he doesn't bother to verify until its time to pay the bill. Recently went to Dr. Keith as a new patient for my 6 month cleaning... needed to get the whole shebang done and hadn't been pleased with the previous dentist. Gotta say, I'm really impressed with Dr. Keith and his staff. I had a very positive experience. To be completely candid, I wish I could give it 4.5 stars... 5 stars for the excellent cleaning and care, but 4 stars because I was left waiting a little bit too long after my cleaning. My xrays & cleaning started on time; I had to wait over 15-20 to be seen/checked by Dr. Keith.) The staff apologized and kept checking in on me, letting me know it would be any minute, but it just felt long. That's the only tiny negative I experienced. Jennifer did a thorough and gentle job on the cleaning. I appreciated her light touch, and her professional attitude: she explained what she was doing every step of the way. Sure, I knew most of what she was happening, but some info was new. Dr Keith was thorough, nice, professional and he also educated me on some new dental info that was informative and useful. When Dr. Keith came to examine me, talk about my history, he took his time and didn't rush me. I have been a patient of Dr. Henderson for over 12 years. Over the years, my care there has been good. However, the way in which he condescendingly speaks to his staff (mostly his hygienists) has always bothered me. The reason for the 1 star now is this: On August 31st, I was having breakfast and my crown fell out (the one he had placed). It was 7am. I called Henderson's office and no answer (not even VM). Hmm . . . OK, it is pretty early. I'll try again at 8am. I call again at 8:10am. Still no answer and no VM even?! After about 20+ rings I would get this "The verizon customer you are calling cannot be reached because the line is busy" message. I decide to drive over to the office in RB. My tooth is now starting to hurt and I have to leave my 11yr old (who is sick) and 7 yr olds at home. I get to the office at 8:30am- door is locked and no one there. I go back to my car and wait until 9:15 hoping someone will show up and I continue to call from my car -- I must have called another 6 times and the same thing, NO Voice Mail message just 20+ rings and then the "we cannot reach your person" message. I go up to the office and try the door one more time - still locked. At this point, I cannot wait any longer so I start Googling other dentists to see if I can get in SOMEWHERE. I found someone who would take me that morning and who went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and comfortable. While I am waiting in the other dentists' waiting room and during the time I was sitting in the chair (waiting for anesthetic to kick in), I kept calling Henderson's office. No luck. Bizarre. I called at 3pm that afternoon as well ---- same thing - no VM, no nada. Now, I have no idea what happened but Henderson has lots of staff. I am wondering why he couldn't have had at least one (ONE!) staff member leave a note on the door and/or make sure the phones were working properly during the WHOLE day!??? Luckily, the other dentist (Dr. Lynne D Thomas and Dr. Langenbach) saved my tooth and put my crown back on. Oh, and they found some decay underneath the crown which had not been found by Henderson. went here to get a crown, thought it was awesome they can mold the crown while you wait. Crown was put on, contacted dentist month later after i felt some discomfort when chewing and it felt like when I bit the crown moved in an awkward angle. I emailed keith, received no response, about 2 months after that the crown broke in half. I emailed keith, no response, even though the office was very responsive via email when planning\scheduling my crown installment. I finally called in, asked why no response, they said it was an oversight. I asked for them to fix the issue, they said they would do whatever they can. I decided to just pull the tooth and requested that keith's office pay for it. they didn't like that or appreciate that at all even after saying they would "make it right". I paid $200+ to get the tooth pulled. After the tooth was pulled, i kept calling keith's office then finally keith returned the call and said the crown shouldn't have even been put on however, keith is the expert dentist... i am not.... how am I supposed to know what is going on inside my mouth? keith never ever provided any type of "make it right" moment. In fact, keith was more jackass then anything else. Dentist charge absorbent prices but, when things go wrong, this dentist wont care and do nothing to make things right. *start rant* What is it with doctors and waiting times. I have about a 30 minute tolerance for waiting anywhere and in a docs office in particular... I have a lot better ways to use my time than sitting in a delapated waiting room waiting for an unapologetic doc.... *end rant* Today I visited Keith Henderson's office for a standard cleaning. I arrived 10 minutes early and was the only person in the waiting room. The receptionist said it should just be a minute.... 30 minutes later (exactly as I was ready to walk) the tech called me in for the cleaning. The exam room was decent enough with a tv playing some daytime nonsense. The Tech did a great job, good conversation and no discomfort. Keith came in to wrap things up and have a look-see. He spoke a SoCal Dentistese dialectic that I was not familiar with and after he left the exam room the tech graciously offered to translate and answer questions. Fortunately I got the gist from the pointing and smiling - I was fine and therefore had no questions - I could have gone with out the dentist-speak and would rather hear the 'good' (or bad) news in regular SoCal English. Over all I recommend Keith et al. Wait times need to improve and more respect for a patient's time would be greatly appreciated. There was no up selling and it seems like a good solid dental practice, good value and I experienced no discomfort during the cleaning and exam. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Henderson for about 14 years. Saw him at the Rancho Bernardo office from 2001-2006, and the UTC office from 2007-2015. He's very personable and doesn't try to up-sell you on unnecessary work. I get compliments all the time on my teeth. His front staff receptionist at the UTC office is super cordial and professional. The reason why I decided to switch to a different dentist is the hygienist at the UTC office. She is ultra rough and has horrible interpersonal skills. Dr. Henderson would give me a glowing review after inspecting my teeth, and then she'd start cleaning and would say really aggressive, negative, insulting comments like "What kind of toothpaste are you using? It's not working. Your gums look horrible. I'm really worried that your gums are receding and you will lose your teeth. What are you eating that is causing your teeth to chip? Are you flossing?" Etc. It didn't make sense- especially since I'm so meticulous about my dental regimen (brush with Sonicare 2-3x's per day and floss every day). Ummmm.....when exactly did she get her DDS degree?? She'd go on and on about the Chargers, the Padres, her dogs, and Craig Ferguson. Please be quiet and just clean my teeth. I can't really respond since you are digging in my mouth and causing a lot of pain. It's a shame I had to leave the practice, but the hygienist makes up about 80-90% of the experience (since Dr. Henderson often only spent 2-3 minutes on his part). read more

Keith Henderson has been my dentist for years. I've seen him at his Governor Drive location, and more recently in Rancho Bernardo. The RB place has big windows and seems more open, but the Governor Drive version is closer to my house, and there's a Henry's in the same complex, so there's that. The staff has always been super-friendly. Magazines are neat and relatively up-to-date. Bathroom is small but clean. Keith is a perfectionist, exacting and precise. This is just what I'm after in a dentist. He's also very accessible and never rushes me when I ask him about painkillers or drilling processes (c'mon, it's fascinating stuff). He even gave me a gold crown last year, despite my wife's grumblings. For the record, I'd had a porcelain crown (from a different, lesser dentist) beforehand, which had twice cracked. Rather than endure yet another go-around with porcelain, I opted for the more predictable wear (and bling!) of gold. It's way in the back of my mouth; nothing sleazy looking. Great conversation piece. I recommend this place to everyone I meet. read more

It is a comfortable, professional and efficient environment that was implemented long ago by his adorable Mother. He has appointments on Saturdays, which is huge for those of us that work, BUT...if the care was not up to par, that would not be enough to keep me going. read more

I'm an extreme dental phob and Keith has always been very delicate and patient with me. Even the injections are easy and pain-free due to his wiggle technique. Along with his wonderful chair side manner, his work is impeccable. He is a true perfectionist and it comes through in his work. Did I mention I work in an endo office? That means that I get to see his crowns and fillings under a microscope and I can still tell you he is amazing. The hygienists and dental assistants are also amazing. Very personable and kind. The staff here is great, very pleasant and warm/conversational and puts you at ease. I'm 45 years old and just had the best dentist experience of my life here. I've never before had dental work done (a crown in this case) where I didn't have some pain - either too little anesthesia, or it hadn't kicked in yet, etc. (I've also had too many shots where I was numb all over), but on this visit I never felt the needle, the drill or anything during my visit! I've been through dentist after dentist. I am happy to say that I am completely satisfied with this office! Everyone from the receptionist to the hygienists to Dr. Henderson himself are all awesome! They are so high-tech I was amazed at how my crowns actually FIT! I felt like I had the same tooth I started with. Any other crown I've gotten in the past from other dentists has been awkward and bulky and different, but not this time. The times I've just come in for a cleaning they have been so sweet and professional. Even when my insurance maxed out, they were willing to make a payment plan. I've basically been going to Dr. Henderson since we moved to Rancho Bernardo in 2001, (as does my Mom & 3 brothers). He is an incredibly gifted dentist who uses the latest technology & clearly loves his profession! He is extra careful to make sure patients don't experience any pain during procedures/fillings, & provides excellent results! I highly recommend him, & I will tell you some reasons why!: In about 2014, I had moved to LA for work, and was sad to temporarily leave Dr Henderson's office, but I felt it would be wise to attempt to find a good dentist in the LA area that would accept my new employer's dental insurance. I tried 3 different dentists in LA, all of which were not good experiences, (including rusty dental tools, outdated technology, & sloppy dental work). O.o Ultimately, I decided that I would take out private PPO Dental Insurance, & drive down to San Diego, such that I would be able to have Dr. Henderson as my dentist again! Luckily, he is open 1 Saturday a month, for people with busy schedules and/or people who travel from far away! I'm so happy I have been able to continue having Dr. Henderson as my dentist! I've had cleanings, x-rays, fillings, tooth filing/evening, & tooth caps/evening, all of which has been fabulous! When doing a filling, it's great that it's tooth-colored, so no one knows you've had a filling. He also has us bite-down on a whitish paper afterward, to make sure the placement/depth of the filling is what it should be, & comfortable! His x-ray technology & computer analytics is super high tech, & can show where there are decay problems, etc! His x-rays are also digital & he has small-sized x-ray cartridges for children & adults like me who have very small mouths; this ensures x-rays are virtually a pain-free & fast process! Previously, he used a drill to remove decay/cavities, (which required topical anesthetic, & then a shot of anesthetic). However, a couple weeks ago, I got to experience his newly acquired Laser that was able to zap-out the tooth decay, and does Not require any shot of anesthetic (just topical anesthetic)! Then he put in the filling as usual. It was Amazing, painless, & I was able to eat & drink right after, without any annoying numbness or pain! Dr. Henderson is an Amazing dentist, & I highly highly recommend him & his very caring & thorough hygienists & staff, including Ashley, who is the sweetest & most capable office manager ever! Dr. Henderson runs a very efficient state-of-the-art 21st century office! I was so impressed! I had moved here a year ago and decided to go to Dr. H. after reading Yelp reviews. Before I went to him, I had gone to another local dentist for an emergency crown repair (Dr. McKinney) -- their office was plain and un-inviting. Dr. H.'s office is very pleasant and nice to be in. After the teeth cleaning, they took digital x-rays (other dentist used old "film" x-rays), plus he put a camera in my mouth to show me where there was infection on the outside of an old crown, as well as old silver fillings that are damaging those teeth as well. Pictures are worth a thousand words -- plain as day! The teeth cleaning, x-rays and 20 minute Dr. consultation cost $228, including a 10% discount for cash (I have no dental insurance). A reasonable fee. The other dentist was about $270 for cleaning, consultation and "film" x-rays. When I went in for the old crown to be removed and replaced, the procedure took about 3 hours, and I walked away with a new crown . . . no leaving with a temp crown and returning later. Dr. H. took 3D CAD (computer-aided-design) to map out my tooth area, fed the info to a machine that made the new crown right in his office. WOW!!! They originally quoted me $1134 (which is about normal for a new crown), but with the cash discount, and not having to do one procedure, the total was $886! My only complaint is that the teeth cleaning schedule was out about 3 months (so call early) and the crown work was out about 4 weeks . . . however in both cases they called me in earlier due to other cancellations. My Dad was a dentist for over 30 years and retired. I went searching for a conservative dentist that would feel like I was at home as I did when I used to go to my Dad. I have gotten cosmetic dentistry work done from Dr. Henderson about 10 years ago and it still looks fab! Recently I went back because I chipped one of my veneers on accident and he quickly fixed it and it looks as if it never happened. I would highly recommend him for any cosmetic dentistry work! Also I have gotten a deep clean from both Jennifer and Irene and they are both fabulous at what they do. My husband and I have been going to Dr. Keith at the RB office since 2003 and we love him and his staff! They're the best! They're all very nice and friendly! They make you feel welcome when you walk in the door! Dr. Keith is very caring and always does excellent quality work on my teeth and he doesn't suggest any unnecessary dental procedures either. I love that he has the capability to make crowns on site so you don't have to come back for a 2nd appt. I will continue to use him as always. I would recommend him to everyone! The place was clean and friendly as soon as you walked in the door. The people involved in the actual cleaning of the teeth were fun to talk to and made the experience seem like I was hanging out with a buddy drinking a beer rather than just getting my teeth cleaned. Came here after an awful experience at Gentle Dental La Jolla. Was referred to Dr. Henderson by my colleague. Glad that I came here and that they were able to get me in for a cleaning so soon. Everyone is so nice and Dr. Henderson has such great bedside manner and explains everything to you. Since I was pregnant at the time of my visit, he couldn't do X-rays but still went ahead and did a thorough exam. He has this high tech camera that takes pictures of your teeth and it comes up on the monitor right away. He then explains what's going on and what he can do to help make that tooth healthier. I have been a patient of Keith Henderson for years. I had a very bad experience yesterday. The dental hygienist was cleaning my teeth and said I would not be seeing the dentist. She later said I had ulcerated areas around the buckled areas of my molars and wanted Dr. Henderson to check them. She asked if I could wait 10 minutes as he was busy and I said yes. As I was waiting, Dr. Henderson walked by. Again, the hygienist asked if he could look at my mouth and he said he was too busy and she should take pictures. I was told by the hygienist I needed to come back in 3 days for the dentist to look at my mouth?! I told her it was too risky to have to make another trip to the dentist so soon after my cleaning. This is during the worst phase of the pandemic and people don't wear masks in the dental office for their procedures. I told the hygienist my daughter was in town and she is a dentist and could check my teeth. I talked to my daughter yesterday and she said I could have a pathology and I received poor care from the dentist. For this reason, I will no longer have Dr. Keith Henderson as my dentist. read more

The office is very nice and up to date with new technologies. They have tv's and pandora, so you can listen to your favorite station or watch something on tv while your teeth are being done. I was very disappointed when I came in for my annual cleaning, First thing that happened was the technician while scraping my teeth popped off my temporary crown therefore it took two people to put it back in since she didnt seem to know what she was doing. That seemed to take forever then the technician rushed thru the cleaning part since so much time was wasted gluing back in the temporary crown . to top it off I usually get seen by doctor Henderson and and that didnt happen. Im going to give them another go but im not impressed. read more
