Dr. Bold and the blond, front desk assistant showed me a picture of a black, decayed tooth surrounded by a highly inflamed gums stating 'it needed to be cared for immediately'. I had no pain and was there as a new client for a cleaning. Went to a different dentist, as the front desk blond woman was trying very hard to be as disgusting to me as she could possibly muster once I refused their 'emergent intervention suggestion'. Never heard of that black tooth again, and love my new, ethical dentist. Take from this what you will, but be careful with this shady business masquerading for a legitimate dental care institution. read more

I have been going to Dr Bold for 10 years + now as is my entire family. He has done a handful of new crowns for me and they have not only lasted a good long time but also have been pain-free. Earlier this week one of my crowns fell off while I was eating leftover superbowl mac & cheese. Typically not the type of food where your teeth break off. I called him up as the tooth immediately became hot/cold sensitive and he got me in within 2 hours as an emergency appt. We had a few laughs as we catch up on guy things and I was in and out of the chair in 30 minutes. No upselling whatsoever and no charge for the visit. Just a conservative, lets re-cement the tooth and see how it goes! Aimee was helping out and she is always good for a few laughs as well. I've been going to Dr Bold for several years, and while the service I got was great, my big beef is with their appointment scheduling. I had an appointment a year ago February and I thought I had responded properly to email and text that I was confirming, and I took time off for the appointment, and then an hour before the appointment I got a call from his office saying that since I didn't confirm they cancelled my appointment and wanted to know if I wanted to reschedule. So you took the time to call me and tell me you cancelled but couldn't call me to confirm first? I stopped going for a while since I was fuming! A year later I decided to return and called on July 10th to make an appointment. Oh, we are booked for the next three and half months, our next appointment won't be until November! So long Dr. Bold, you were ok, but I can't depend on you. read more

The staff here is great and I appreciate their kindness and being extremely welcoming. That is what my 1 star is for. I got 3 fillings on my right side done by Dr. Bold a month ago and I was having bad sensitivity still after the procedure. He attempted to fix it twice, and a month later, I am still having issues. He did three more fillings on my left side recently, and still the same problem. Ever since he has done the procedures, both sides of my teeth are sensitive to temperature and pressure. I cannot eat comfortably for the past month and even now. I will definitely be getting a second opinion. read more

I am writing this review because I had a negative experience with Dr. Bold. We moved here in October, and my husband was recommended a filling from Dr. Bold for esthetic purposes and ever since Dr. Bold replaced it with the new filling, my husband has started to feel pain in the tooth. All the attempts to adjust the bite were not enough and Dr Bold told him that he would probably need a root canal, so we wrote an email asking him if he could support the expense as the tooth was in perfect condition before replacing the filling. We were never replied back, so I called the office for an explanation and they said that they had not received the email, so I sent it again and they still haven't replied yet, which proves their lack of accountability and unprofessional manners. Additionally, I asked some months ago to buy a night guard and the office assistant gave me a quote that I signed and paid for, but after some days she called me back saying that the price that the lab had turned back with was much higher, so I still owed them other $400. I told them I didn't want the bite any longer since from the quote I signed and paid it has doubled, and this is another evidence of lack of transparency, as the rule for a signed estimate is that is the final price, and not instead being able to be adjustable to their own convenience. Lastly, my husband and I had a cleaning in Dr Bold's office and the hygienist was the worst one we have ever tried. When my 13-year-old child went for his cleaning last week , I called on purpose to make sure he would be assigned with a different hygienist and, to my surprise, the same hygienist showed up. With all these facts considered , I am really disappointed in the way Dr Bold and his office have treated us, so I am definitely not recommending this dentist to anyone. read more

Maggie the Dental Hygienist is so personable and truly cares about her patients. Every member of my family has seen her and will not go to anyone else. She's very thorough, professional and detail oriented. She just cleaned one of my son's teeth and sent a hand-written note home with him giving details of the status of his teeth. Who does that?? I've been a patient for several years. I like Dr. Bold and have never had a bad experience here. Sadly I won't be coming back. I went in recently for a cleaning and I was shocked how lax their covid protocols are. They weren't wearing masks at all. Not on the patients, staff or even Dr. Bold. The hygienist greeted me with no mask and talked with me before my cleaning. Dr. Bold comes in to see you unmasked. They do put on a surgical mask when they are actively in your mouth, but everyone else is walking around unmasked while you lay there with your mouth wide open. Later that day I went to the paint store and Panda Express, both places required me to mask up even if I'm vaccinated but my dentist doesn't?? Crazy! read more

The staff here is always professional yet very warm and welcoming at the same time! It's not often that you get to look forward to a dental appointment, but I can honestly say I enjoy my time here. All of the equipment seems new, and everything is very hi-tech; you even get your own personal goggles and headphones to watch movies with during long procedures, which really makes the time fly! And they really take care of everything, from mouthguards to teeth whitening. The good: The staff at Dr. Bold's office is very friendly and accommodating. I was really happy that they were able to email me my x-rays at no charge when I decided to go for a second opinion. The teeth cleaning seemed very thorough and gentle and the hygentist very kind. The bad: The Dr. uses a tool called a diagnodent to diagnose cavities when x-rays show no cavities. It's alleged that this tool can find cavities before they appear on an x-ray but I was skeptical, having never had a cavity at the age of 32. He diagnosed me with 8 cavities this way and then proceeded to have me scheduled for the fillings at an out of pocket cost for me that exceeded $500, with an untold amount billed to my insurance. I got a second opinion from a dentist down the street, without letting him know I had previously been diagnosed with cavities and he gave me a clean bill of health through the standard x-ray method. Needless to say, I won't be going back to Dr. Bold. read more

The last time I went to the dentist about 3 years ago they said I'd need to pay 800 bucks out of pocket, and that's AFTER insurance (and my coverage is excellent). I think that scared me away, but then a couple weeks ago I looked in the mirror at the inside of my lower teeth and saw they were lookin' pretty yellow, so I brushed the heck out of em...to no avail. Appalled, I went online to find a dentist THAT DAY. What made it even better is I was able to download their patient info form and fill it out ahead of time so when I walked into the office I didn't have to go through a half hour of paperwork. They didn't have the slot I wanted (I wanted Wednesday) but that was to be expected. They got me in there Friday. I also really wanted my yellow teeth cleaned, but they only had time for an initial examination. Kelly, the Receptionist and Office Manager, explained everything regarding how the process normally works, which was cool. It's nice that they take the time to actually help you understand why they can't meet your complete request rather than just saying "no". So, my first visit was just to perform an initial examination, but they called me maybe a day before to say they could do a cleaning as well because someone had to cancel. I declined it, but was later convinced to go ahead with it after speaking with one of the guys that helped me get situated. Why not kill 2 birds with one stone? Plus, I had insurance money to use up before the end of the year so I was anxious to do what I could before 2009 hit. The cleaning was pleasant...well, as pleasant as a cleaning CAN be. How much fun could it possibly be when you've got 3 years of gunk on your teeth they have to scrape off with a steel claw? After the cleaning, I met with Dr. Byles for the initial exam. She's only there on Fridays so I'm guessing that's why they couldn't accommodate my Wednesday appointment request. Anyway, she was really nice. Heck, EVERYONE was nice. And not "fake" nice either - genuine. Dr Byles and the girl who cleaned my teeth (sorry, forgot her name) were loaded with knowledge, which makes you feel pretty safe leaving your teeth in their hands. They explain what treatments are available without forcing you into anything. I didn't feel obligated to do anything, but they definitely clued me in to the real consequences, such as the possibility of a root canal if they didn't act soon on a broken filling I have. So...I completed the initial exam and went up to the front to see how far in the hole I'd be for having neglected my teeth for so long. It wasn't pretty, but the cool thing is they are really good about working out a strategy based on your insurance coverage rather than trying to make you do everything ASAP. We discussed it from a financial and a dental perspective and agreed upon a game plan. Pretty cool! My second visit was scheduled for Dec 30th, but due to a cancellation they called me and said I could come in last Thursday (12/18). I was down for it so scheduled the appointment. Like Daniel H. said in his review, Dr. Bold's office definitely has a hi-tech setup. It's ridiculous compared to what I'm used to. His review is one of the reasons I went to Dr. Bold, which I told them when I went there. I was at the office for 4 1/2 HOURS. That was completely by choice, and I was attended to the entire time. Now, the reason I was there so long was because I had the following done: 1. Crown (first one ever) 2. Filling 3. Filling 4. Um...filling? I forgot how many there were after a while. All this work was on the right side of my face. I have to say, I love those personal video glasses they provide, along with noise-canceling headphones. I watched Dumb & Dumber, then Zoolander. It made everything so much easier...except for getting out of the chair and learning to walk again. :) All in all, a fantastic experience! read more

If I could give negative stars I would. This guy and his SEEMINGLY nice staff hassled me for years about "3 cavities" I had. They said it was CRUCIAL I get them fixed or my teeth would rot and I'd have to get root canal worst case.. really putting on the pressure. BUT, because of my finances I just couldn't make it happen at the time. My sister advised me to get a second opinion so I went to see Dr Quan and Dr Q asked me SIMPLE questions; do they hurt, how long have you noticed them?... etc. Now get this, after taking one x-ray Dr. Q came back and told me I had NO CAVITIES! They were oxidized fillings from cavities I had when I was a kid, he blatantly told me that whatever doctor was trying to fix my cavities WAS INDEED SCAMMING ME and that he could easily polish my fillings at pennies on the dollar of what Dr. Bold quoted me. I've had no pain with my teeth and Dr. Quan saved me THOUSANDS of dollars. But wait there's more! The same exact thing happened to my sister, they basically extorted $1000 from her, to be fair she did have a couple of cavities, but after they were finished they insisted she came back because they had discovered more, seven to be exact!! They even had the audacity to get my sister to take out a credit card for the operations.. I hope anyone who reads this rethinks before going to this shady establishment, even if it is in nice 4S Ranch. I recommend Dr Quan, he's very honest and professional. read more

I went for a cavity filling and it was the most pleasant dental experience I ever had! I really enjoyed being able to watch a movie while the work was being completed combined with the device used to help keep my mouth propped open made me feel truly relaxed. This review is long overdue, I've been coming to Dr. Bold for quite a while now. I went to a dentist prior who told me I needed a lot of work done and it was very costly, so I decided to get a second opinion from Dr Bold and he was so honest, knowledgeable and took the time to explain to me what needed to done. It cut my costs in half from what was quoted from my former dentist. His staff, Sally know the in's and out's of all the insurance, I never got a bill after any of my procedures asking for more money because they quoted me incorrectly. I've had experiences with other dental offices where they mail me a bill after the procedure asking for more money because my insurance did not cover for something that they thought would. And Kin is awesome!!! He knows what he's doing and always keeps me informed on what's going on during my visit. He's very caring and always checks to make sure I'm comfortable and he lets me know ahead of time what's I'm going to feel so I'm prepared. He also puts chap-stick on my lips so they don't get dry!! How sweet he is :) If you're having a longer procedure, you can watch a movie with these cool glasses with headphones so you don't have to hear all the noise. Now I come in for my cleaning, and due to my busy schedule, I can't really get picky with my dental hygienist,so I've met all of them and they are all great! Every time after my cleaning, Dr Bold will stop by to check that everything is good, which is always a nice touch. The best part about coming here for cleaning is their whitening for life program. You get whitening gels once a year if you don't miss your appointment, super cool perk, I highly recommend! read more

I searched for a dentist for my son and called around the 4S Ranch area wanting to keep my business local. I called Dr. Bold's office and inquired if they accepted dual insurance Blue Cross/Blue Shield and United Concordia. The receptionist assured me they did and even verified my insurance coverage. The appointment came and Dr. Bold recommended three sealants for my son's teeth. I was presented an estimate of $0, that is zero dollars for the three sealants. I concurred with the sealants and made the follow up appointment for my son a few days later. During the next appointment the sealants were applied and again we were told that nothing was owed. Suffice to say, I was surprised approximately a month later, when I received a bill from Dr. Bold for $330. I called the office and talked to Chevon, the bill collector, and she said I signed the contract and the $0 was just an estimate and not a guarantee. At least to me the difference between $0 and $330 is a LARGE gap. I feel as though Dr. Bold was dishonest in his dealings with me. Chevon stated that me and my wife were told at each appointment that they are out of network and money will be owed for this appointment, completely untrue as the estimate given was $0 and no attempt was made to collect money at either appointment. Dr. Bold had my insurance information in advance of each appointment so it should have been easy to present the patient an accurate estimate. In addition the Dr. Bold's website has the logo of Blue Cross/Blue Shield and United Concordia on it and appears as though they are in network with those insurance providers and as a result misled me into believing they were endorsed by these providers. Ultimately it is the patient's responsibility to know the medical costs of care but that does not change how I feel misled by a local 4S Ranch dentist and his staff. I will look for a honest dentist in the local area for my wife, and three kids. It is a shame that a misunderstanding and greed will cost Dr. Bold a lot of business in the long term. Not withstanding getting the word out with the local Stone Ranch & Monterey Ridge PTAs and local youth sports groups. A proper way to speak to the patient is to tell them that the Doctor is not a part of any network but will bill the insurance for services rendered. Therefore, the patient is not misled and will continue to be a patient as long the care provided is satisfactory. UPDATE A few weeks after writing this review, I was contacted by Dr. Bold's staff to discuss this situation. There was confusion over the dual insurance which I understand is happening more and more these days. They are also in the process of updating their website to remove the Blue Cross Clue Shield logo as to not confuse any potential patients. I am satisfied that the staff and Dr. Bold took the time to consider my case and we came to a mutually agreed upon settlement. From my son's visit, I have no complaints about the level of dental care he received from Dr. Bold. The office and dental areas are ridiculously clean and filled with the latest dental technological equipment. read more

On the first visit, the receptionist will come to the dental chair while you are still collecting yourself after the procedure and ask how you will pay for the visit. This is a warning. They try to sell you high priced unnecessary services. They will tell you that they know everything about your insurance, so you can pay them upfront. Unfortunately, they often make "billing errors" which are invariably in their favor. At times they will bill you for items that are covered by the insurance. Then you end up paying twice, the insurance premium and what would be covered by the insurance company if the dentist have sent the insurance company what they asked for. If you want a more relaxed experience with your dentist, go somewhere else. read more

Dr. Jeremy R. Bold and his staff have what seems to me a very up to date setup. All of the patients records, xrays, pictures are stored digitally and displayed on LCDs on flexible arms for patients to view from their chairs. There are also options to have special glasses and watch movies while they work on your teeth. The staff seems knowledgeable, helpful and most importantly, they do not try to push extra and expensive procedures and products on you. The only reason why I hold back a 5th star is because I have only been going to them for about a year and have not required anything more than routine cleanings. read more

Dr. Bold and Kin make a great team! I finished my suggested treatment plan today and I am very happy with the results. No more silver in my mouth and I feel great! Dr. Bold and Kin kept me informed about what they were doing, any delays and were consistently asking how I was. I loved the option to watch DVDs with noise canceling headphones and special glasses that make it seem I was in a movie theater. But, all this aside even if Dr. Bold didn't have these fun extras, I would still go to this practice for my dental care. Terrible dentist . I'll never ever go back to his office. He seems nice, but his technique is horrible. He screwed up my crown and didn't know and want to fix it or pay to have someone fix his failed procedure. It's been about a month, my crowned teeth is hurting badly, he adjusted three times but failed to fix the problem. I can't eat on the affected side for a month, can't drink cold or hot water, my jaw is hurting too. I need take pain medicine three times a day even I'm very sensitive to pain killer. The other issue with him is he wanted me take x-Ray every time he adjusted the crown which I refused at beginning, but his aid would keep convincing you until you give in. They took at-least 8 r-rays for the same symptoms. I got so mad and stressed. He is a dentist with poor training and bad technique . Never let him touch your teeth. You don't want the same suffering as I have. A Few years ago, he tried to fix my chip but failed three times. I had another dentist to repair for me which lasted more than three years. His repair only lasted three days maximum. I cant stress enough he is awful! It says I have to give at least 1 star but he doesn't deserve it. I just evaluated by an Endodontist and was told I need do root canal. I'm devastated. I have a very healthy teeth, never have any pain and sensitivity. I have superficial crack w/o any symptoms. They kept convincing me to fix it. I have deep regret to let him touch my teeth. Seriously Don't go to him please. Trust me!! read more

Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Bold and his staff. He recently did some restorative work for my son and we couldn't be happier. Dr Bold worked with my son's orthodontist to come up with a treatment plan. There were a lot of steps involved so communication was key and Dr Bold did a great job explaining everything to us and making my son feel comfortable. The end result was amazing.
