On my last visit, - emphasis on last -, after my cleaning was done, I asked if I was going to see a dentist. Not sure where the thought came from, but I asked if I would be changed an additional fee, and she said yes!! I have been going to the dentist twice a year since I've had teeth. NO dentist has EVER charged me for checking my teeth when the hygienist was done. NOT acceptable, nor even reasonable - what would it take? Maybe five minutes? We are now going to Smart Dental Care in Prairieville and are more than pleased. I understand that dental care is not cheap, but charging to have the dentist to check my teeth after cleaning is ridiculous.

I was also concerned about professionalism. Treatment recommendations seemed inconsistent, and I left feeling unsure and not fully confident in the guidance provided. Billing was another issue. Fees were not clearly explained, and costs did not feel transparent. I was told my out of pocket portion and then was later billed for a far more expensive fee. I do understand insurances do not always pay what they say but this was not a discussion whatsoever. Overall, the experience felt more focused on charges than patient care. I hope the office can improve organization, communication, and overall professionalism.

Most recently, I had my six-month cleaning this past week, and I had a less than five minute wait even with showing up a little early. I liked that they questioned me about my COVID history (any symptoms, any contact with COVID positive people) and also took my temperature. It makes me feel safe to know that they are doing that for all of their patients. My dental hygienist, Brent, was amazing! He was extremely nice and funny, and was very easy to talk to. He explained every single thing he was doing, which I really appreciate as a patient. He was also gentle while cleaning my teeth which is for sure a plus. It was also nice that he complimented how clean my teeth already were, LOL :) Dr. Redhead was also very kind and easy to talk to, and made sure to ask if there were any dental issues I wanted her to look at. They booked me 2 weeks out but called me when something opened up sooner. When i realized my keys were locked in my car on my way out the door I was so upset. My husband said he could come get me but I figured they would reschedule me if running late and long story short, I couldn't wait much longer to take him to maintain healthy breastfeeding Journey (and my postpartum sanity.) I called them crying about the situation and they were so understanding and told me it was ok. Thank you Anna for being so sweet! During my visit, Erin (speech therapist & Lactation consultant,) was amazing, as well as Dr Juban. They helped me get on track and give proper evaluation. Then, Michael aka Dr. Juban, introduced himself and looked at my teeth and X-rays. He explained the work that needs to be done, answered all my questions, debunked some myths, and I never felt rushed or pressured. I am now scheduled for conscious sedation, getting all my problems fixed in one bang! Care Credit is accepted here, so financial woes are a breeze too!
