I've been a loyal patient at Bluebonnet Dental for years because Dr. Burkhalter is amazing, but the front office staff is completely unreliable. I've been waiting over four weeks just to get a price on a procedure, only to be met with constant misinformation. Not only did they mix up my primary and secondary insurance, but they were also given the correct effective dates--yet they continue to bill old claims to an inactive policy. It's ridiculous. They're so focused on getting paid but can't even document and process the information correctly when it's handed to them. I was placed on an extended hold, then disconnected, with no follow-up. I even gave them extra time to get a pre-treatment estimate, only to call back and find they were still clueless. Their go-to response? "We'll call you back." But, of course, that call never happens. Since I've been a patient, this office has gone through multiple managers and a revolving door of front desk staff, yet the same disorganization and lack of professionalism remain. At this point, it's clear that leadership is aware of how poorly loyal patients are being treated--and the fact that nothing has improved speaks volumes. Dr. Burkhalter is the only reason I stayed as long as I did, but dealing with the front desk and billing department has become unbearable. Soo i hve had to come back and update my review. I've had a few things done since my wisdom teeth removal and my experiences have been great. They have been really accommodating to my needs. I have sensitive gums and they die the best they can to make me feel comfortable. Always checking to make sure Im ok while in the chair. They explain everything if you have questions whiccb is a huge deal for me. Their front desk staff has gotten extremely better as well. And the phone experience has improved as well. read more

Dr Rome is the BEST! I have mega dental anxiety, especially when I have to get numbed for anything. I didnt go to the dentist for 8 years because of it. Ill admit, im a heavy sprite drinker so the acidity and sugar is my enemy. I had cavities but not an abnormal amount for how long I'd not gone to the dentist for. Ive gone to 2 out of my 4 appointments and have had great experiences for both! After they give me my numbing shot, she let's me go walk around outside and get fresh air to keep me calm which has been such a huge help. She also laughs at all of my terrible jokes so, big shout out to Dr Rome. I also want to say that Crystal is the bees knees. I get excited when she's the one to do my cleanings because she is just all around AWESOME! The 2 of them together are my ultimate dynamic duo! read more

So I moved to the area and have struggled to find a great dentist after receiving top notch care in another state. I started experiencing pain and scheduled an emergency visit because they were strongly recommended. The first visit was fine. Dr. Burkhardt was lovely and encouraged me to give her a chance after explaining how bad my experiences over 4 years had been with another office. I needed a few fillings and a root canal but I was in pain so I scheduled the appointment for the earliest available and paid a deposit to secure the date. I received a call the Friday before the appointment to confirm and began preparing myself and my schedule for the appointment date. I arrived early and first, they couldn't find my appointment. When she finally located me in their system, the staff person said, "I spoke with you Friday and you canceled because you said you have to work." I told her that I didn't know who she talked to but I wouldn't say something like that because I work from home for myself and make my own schedule. I told her that I did speak with someone briefly on Friday but it was to confirm, not cancel. She asked me if I could reschedule to later in the day, but I told her I had some pretty important meetings that I had already shifted to the afternoon to accommodate the appointment. No apology. They just kept acting as if I canceled an appointment that I clearly prepared for. I asked to cancel and receive a refund for the deposit. She said she would have to put a ticket in and they will call me to issue the refund by phone. So you can charge me immediately but I have to wait for the refund? And I'm still waiting for that call. Scheduling with my out of state dentist who already called me herself to coordinate my care. I just hate that I can't find great care locally. Back to the drawing board. read more

Went in for cleaning after numerous confirmations via SMS for 11:00 appointment. Arrived 10 minutes early, checked in, only one in waiting room. No less than 5 or 6 personnel hanging around front desk. 3 or 4 people come in after me...got their name called, went in. I waited for 30 minutes (11:20) and finally assumed that I had "fallen through the cracks" or something. No acknowledgment that I was there or that I had been waiting...So, I just left. I can only assume that they have plenty of business and don't need mine...so I will go where they will want my business. read more

Went here to have a veneer put on with Dr. Bowling had no problems even though they lost my impression. I recommended my dad go there for his dentures. I took him to his scheduled appointment and was waiting for him in the waiting area when he comes in and tells me they were only going to give him local Anesthesia to pull his teeth, umm what?!? The agreement was he was supposed to be put to sleep! Hence why I was there to drive him home. I finally talk to them and tell them if they just locally numb his mouth to pull all those teeth we are leaving! They put him under, pulled his teeth and sent him home with temporary dentures. I've been here a few times now for my regular 6 months cleaning and I love it here, the staff has always been so friendly and helpful. They do a good job cleaning, since I haven't had any other work done I can't really comment but I enjoy coming here. Today I checked in on Yelp and you get a free fluoride touch up with your cleaning which is a $25 value! Score!!! I never have to wait for my appointment, when I get here it's time to go in!! My dental hygienist Tara Leigh is great and makes me feel very welcomed, my friend Rosa is also another great hygienist here! I have used this facility once before and had no issues. Dr. Gonzales was very kind and made me feel very comfortable during the procedure of extracting one of my wisdom teeth. Recently, I had to return to get the remaining three wisdom teeth extracted and the experience was much different this time with an exception of Dr. Gonzales being very kind and making me feel comfortable during my extractions once more. However, upon making my appointment I was told I would get a call telling me how much I would have to pay for the procedure out of pocket. Unfortunately, I had a difficult time receiving the out of pocket amount and was told more than once that my insurance had not been added into the system and that someone would call me before my appointment to give me the amount of what I would owe. The afternoon before the appointment I had to call once more to ask for the amount due and the lady I spoke with was not friendly and stated that they still did not have it. She did end up calling me back and giving me the amount the evening before. finances are a big aspect to consider and patients should be made aware of what they owe with enough time to be able to get there finances in order before getting a procedure and should have more than a not even 24 hour notice. I went in for my appointment and like I said above Dr. Gonzales was very kind and friendly . After my appointment was complete I was still experiencing pain where one of the teeth were removed so I called on the 9th of August and left a voicemail stating that I was in pain and asked for someone to call me back regarding this issue. Once a week had passed and no one had returned my call I ended up having to seek help from my primary care physician to get antibiotics due to my throat swelling from an infection ( which can cause major issues to your brain and carotid artery and much more if not addressed quickly ). Later on that next week still not hearing back from anyone I went online to Bluebonnet Dental Cares website to the chat and informed them of what happened and how I was disappointed. Not even 30 minutes after doing so I received a call from Bluebonnet Dental Care left a voicemail stating that they were calling to " check on me to see how I was doing since my procedure. " when I called back The lady who had called stated that she was once again calling to check on me and I told her that it shouldn't take 2 weeks for them to check on a patient after a procedure ( by this time the next day would be two weeks since my procedure ) . I explained to her that I had never heard back from anyone regarding my voicemail I had left informing them of the pain I was experiencing and she said that she had just received my voicemail the same day she called ( August 16th ) and that she was calling me to check on me ( The employee never mentioned anything about a voicemail until I brought it up ). I told her that I left the voicemail on the 9th and she went back and forth with me on the date the voicemail was left until I gave her an exact time and she stated " I see the note where you called on the 9th but I am just getting the message that you called and I am calling you now to check on you ( on the 16th... 8 days later ) knowing I had left a voicemail 8 days earlier stating that I was in pain. Not everyone has the option to go to their primary care for help and If I would not have had the option to go to my primary care this could have turned into something far worse than just a tooth infection and swollen neck. I would not recommend this facility not because of Dr. Gonzales but because of the staff and their lack of attentiveness to the patients once they have paid and are done with their procedure. read more

THIS PLACE IS AWFUL! Completely unorganized! Lets see, I started at one of their satellite locations on Coursey blvd. The dentist there was so rude! I thought I'm not going back there! But I talked to the office manager who profusely apologized said the specialist the recommended were very good and that she would be happy to set me up with a more personable dentist for my next visit. So I figured I'd give them a second chance. I saw the Endodontist the office manager recommended. When I got to the appt, the receptionist there only had me down to have one tooth evaluated not two because the office manager at the Coursey location had only sent over an eval request for one tooth. (She later lied and said she did send over the two tooth eval and said the receptionist was lying..I saw the request.) So, double the price I was expecting. I made the appt with the periodontist at their main location on bluebonnet. I was treated VERY WELL there. So I figured I'd just see a dentist at that location. I called back and scheduled an appt to have a small cavity fixed. I show up to have the cavity fixed and they have NO IDEA why I'm there!!! WTF are you kidding me. Then the office manager says, well we can't help it if we request the records from our coursey office and they won't send them over. REALLY??? They overcharge me for the periodontal work I had done by $239!!! That was 2 1/2 months ago and I have yet to see a check. I just keep getting the run around. Do NOT go here. I went in for a tooth cleaning. First I was given x-rays and told that I had four cavities. The dentist barely looked at my X-rays before telling me this. Additionally, she did not show them to me (which is what most dentists do) before leaving the room within 3 minutes. I've heard multiple stories from friends and colleagues about this practice making fraudulent claims so I will be checking these "cavities" out with other dentists. Then, the assistant came in to clean my teeth. She was VERY rude and continue to poke at my sensitive gums. Every time I would jump, she would sneer, ask me what the issue was, and tell me I was making this difficult. The last time she poked me, she pulled back and said "Ok I'm not even touching you, why are you jumping?" Why would I jump if you didn't touch me? Then after telling her that I am sensitive, she complained that "fine. I'm going to have to use a different tool and that's gonna take MUCH longer." After working on my four bottom teeth for a very rough 30 minutes or so, she breezed through the rest of my teeth in about 5-10 minutes in what I suppose was rushed aggravation (I'm not sure how well she did. The procedure was entirely too fast). She was very rough AND rude and I would NOT recommend this practice to ANYONE. read more

I was repeatedly mailed bills with different dates of service, and when someone finally called me back (after 2 months) I was told that my visit from 9 months ago had charges that the insurance carrier had declined. I asked for a ledger (always ask for a full ledger with Physicians, Pharmacists, and Dentist billing problems). When it arrived Insurance had paid for all services. My son is an out-of-state student at LSU and went in to glue back the composite that fell off of his front tooth on a Saturday. After four bite wing xrays AND a panoramic xray, both of which included regions that were unaffected, he was told he had three cavities. Luckily he had just been to the dentist in his home state a few weeks earlier and knew he was cavity free. Bluebonnet insisted he have them filled but my son did not give in. We paid in full, and it took three calls to get a copy of the bill. "I sent it to you, I don't know why you didn't receive it." Bluebonnet submitted our claim and then had the check sent to themselves. It took months and many more calls to for us to receive a check. "We have to wait until it gets to the main office for processing." I found out later that my insurance company covers only one panoramic every five years so now if anything occurs it will be five years before they will pay. They came up with several excuses not to send the panoramic xrays to our dentist. - "We didn't receive the release form you mail, We didn't get your fax, We received your fax but can't find it. It was finally sent and then I received an email, "The xrays we took were not panoramic, but it looks like the insurance company didn't cover it anyway." I don't know how the owners of this company sleep at night knowing they are fraudulent in their charges. This is not a dental practice but a business to make money and they are very successful at it. read more

My previous experiences were fine. They were expensive, but the service was fine. My last experience will cause me never to return. I had an appointment and arrived on time. I waited an hour as people who had come in after me were called back for their service. I had to ask for updates (the counter staff is nice) instead of being offered one. Upon my last request for an update, the staff person left the front desk to "check on it" for me, and never returned. I got fed up and left. Another staff member said the dentist would call me to discuss what happened, but I never received a call either. I'm a cash paying customer. There are too many dentists in town to put up with people unapologetically wasting my time. Second, but perhaps indicative of the lack of care this business has for its customers is that there was a problem with the door locking everyone out. Instead of fixing the door or adjusting it in some manner, the staff just watched as customers had to jump up and down to let in other customers. That was my entertainment for an hour. read more

Talk about professionalism here. The staff at Bluebonnet dentistry are very warm, welcoming, and engaging. They make you feel really comfortable and answer all your questions. They offer several different procedures ranging from basic to preventative to minor and major dental work. They even do whitening and other fancy cosmetic procedures. They have a lot of different dentists that work all under this one roof, so there's always somebody for everybody. The dental hygienist are so friendly and so are the front desk staff. They really care about making sure you have a reason to smile upon leaving. Who doesn't love going to the dentist and walking out with slick, shiny, healthy teeth that you can't help but run your tongue across your teeth and smile. Also note, they offer payment plans through Care Credit. And a couple of other third party dental credit companies. read more

Even though I arrived 15 minutes early for a 20-minute procedure, I wasn't called from the waiting area until 35 minutes after my appointment was scheduled. Fast forward another 90 minutes later and being visited by three different dental assistants who had no clue of what they were doing, no dental work had even been started. I took off from work this morning, only to sit in the lobby and the dentist chair for over two hours, before getting up to leave. My morning was completely wasted. The worst part is that no apologies were extended by the staff upon leaving. I will be finding a competent dental provider in the area who cares about their patients' time and well-being. read more

I wouldn't recommend going here. I went once for a cleaning and they told me I had 9 cavities, a gum disease and would have to fill my gums with antibiotics and have 9 cavities fixed. This was so unusual to me that I bit the bullet and called my regular dentist of 20 years and had the X-rays sent to his office for a second opinion. He was incredibly angry to see the X-rays. I didn't have 9 cavities or a gum disease. He made me come in immediately to see me in person. And didn't charge me. And he mentioned he was the head of some dental board and would be bringing the Bluebonnet dentist's name to their attention. Just be careful. And go to dentists who are conservative. Not the kinds who can't read X-rays and jump to extremes and wildly expensive procedures. read more

It has taken me a very long time to post a comment .... I originally went here when Dr, Jessica Bruni as the owner. She was Fabulous and did gorgeous work. Years later I broke a tooth on the dental plate she implanted. I went back to Bluebonnet Dental knowing she had sold the practice, but thinking that they did such a great job the first time .... that this would be the same. But, Boy was I wrong ... very first thing, I kept asking if she was still in practice somewhere .... that question was avoided completely!! Then I was told that they would have to remove the entire dental implant and replace it with a new improved version because all the teeth were made together. I agreed but, nearly had a heart attack when they told be it was going to cost $13,000.00 Dollars!!!! I felt like I didn't have much of a choice .... so I went ahead and agreed. 7 hours in that dental chair was AWFUL ... they did send out and get me a smoothie before I got sick .... then came the Temporary plate .... which was very rough and fake looking and actually broke in half the very weekend after they put it on. It just kept breaking and I had to super glue it together.THEN Covid hit ... Needless to say I could not eat very much without fear of it breaking or coming out!!! Finally after a couple of months they finally got me back in to get the actual plate. We went round and round about the color .... they would never tell me what the original color of the first implant was!!! I have ended up with UNEVEN UGLY sort of yellow old lady teeth!!! Then after all of this .... I find out that Dr.Jessica Bruni was building a new office almost across the street ... Pearl Dental Group .... and they never told me!!!!! I have been a patient of Andre Bruni for 15 years and was heartbroken when I arrived for my routine visit to learn that he had moved on. Dr Bruni is a very pleasant and a qualified professional that delivered amazing results. The 3 stars is due to the failure of the current practice to inform me that Dr Bruni was no longer with BDC prior to me showing up for my appointment. The hygienist is awesome and the Dentist that saw me was very pleasant. I agree with the others that the rates are high along with trying to be sold services that may not have been necessary. Since Dr. Bruni wasn't there, I had no way to identify if that was or wasn't the case. I am hoping that Dr. Bruni begins practicing again. read more

Do not go here. They will cheat you out of your money. They lost my impressions for my invisiline, so after my dog ate my set I was SOL. My mom and I both had some cavities filled here. They told me I had more cavities than I did and that I needed to replace some old fillings. All of the fillings they have done have been wrong. None of them have been sealed and the fillings are too big. We did not have dental insurance when we went here, so they cheated us out of thousands of dollars out of pocket. at first it seemed nice, it was very clean and everyone was friendly. However, after my exam I was told I had 3 cavities and I had never had a cavity in my life. I asked another doctor there and she said that they were definitely cavities, so I went ahead and had them filled. The experience was pleasant but the after was not. I had pain for about a month afterward, I went in and they said everything looked fine. To this day I still have sensitivity in the teeth that were filled. It's so bad that sometimes just taking a hard bite or drinking something semi cold is excruciating. Bruni) telling you the first time he meets you that your tongue looks like Gene Simmons of Kiss. After two years we got a letter from the collection agency, our insurance did pay because it was over two years claim. We paid it, but when my wife went to see another dentist, he told her what Bluebonnet Dental was wrong and causing her problems. This place is not good. There accountant her is Rene is the worest accountant I've seen, she doesn't file the paper work right, she does not care to fix it when you call, and she always at lunch or busy to answer your phone call. I was a little torn on going based on the mixed reviews here and other venues but the free new patient exam pulled me in. I waited a little longer than desired and there were lots of x-rays. Dr. Did come in and make suggestions, all were what I knew. They took my blood pressure which was odd to me but, hey to each their own. I did decide to get a cleaning a couple days later. They are open a bit later and the hygienist was very personable. I haven't felt oversold or anything like that. I got one cavity filled and it was about as comfortable as any drill in your mouth :).
