Dimov Tax - George Dimov, C.P.A.

    Dimov Tax

Dimov Tax has done our taxes since we moved to Texas a few years ago. We had to file in California…read moreand Texas the first year and also had a few complicated situations that required help navigating. Their team is responsive, detailed and very helpful. I plan on continuing to use them and would recommend them for your tax needs.

Their onboarding, SEO, and sales marketing team are exceptional. They know exactly what to say to earn your trust and we were excited to work with them. Unfortunately, the actual service completely fell apart after they took our money. The Process & Financials: We paid a seperate pre-engagement consultation fee, then $1,285 upfront before a single page of work was prepared. After payment cleared, we received a lengthy engagement contract requiring signature. In our experience, an extensive engagement agreement should come before payment, not after. Three unacceptable draft tax returns followed, each containing differant but significant errors. The 1st draft was a disaster and would have cost us thousands in taxes we did not owe. The 2nd was still very wrong and missing key disclosures. The 3rd included inapplicable Texas state filings, and if filed could have caused headaches. We caught the errors ourselves. We never received a tax return we could file with any confidence. By the 3rd draft, we were done. Our taxes were not overly complex but required special attention to detail. This engagement strained our resources without providing any measurable benefit. The Disappearance: After multiple alarming errors, we had zero trust in the firm's capabilities. We felt it was a real compliance and economic risk for them to prepare our taxes. We sent a formal refund demand directly to George Dimov using the exact email addresses listed on our engagement letter and CC'd ourselves to verify delivery. We also sent it to the team who had prepared our taxes. Following our refund request, the firm went completely silent. No response, no explanation, and no attempt to clarify why we are not entitled to a refund. That is not normal. Fellow Texans: The verified CPA badge on this Yelp listing (as of 6/23/2026) belongs to a Texas CPA ,Tuo Shi (License #123237), not George Dimov. George Dimov holds no individual Texas CPA license confirmed via TSBPA public database. His firm, Dimov Associates LLC's Texas CPA firm license (C11597) expired September 30, 2025 and has not been renewed at the time of this post. Based on our research Dimov Tax, Dimov Partners, DImov Tax Specialists, do not come up in the TSBPA database. Public Regulatory Records: We later discovered that on April 8, 2026, weeks before we hired this firm, the California Board of Accountancy (CBA) filed a formal accusation against George Dimov and his firm (Case No. AC-2026-10). This is a matter of public record. Had this ongoing regulatory action been known or disclosed to us, we never would have signed on. Our experience mirrors similar patterns openly discussed by other clients on Yelp and other trusted review sources. To the Dimov Business Response Team: We provided organized documents, full disclosures, and paid in full upfront. Do not attempt to reply to this review claiming we are "not in your system," blaming a technical issue, or mischaracterizing us or our tax profile. We have the signed engagement letter provided only after we paid, the timestamps, the error-riddled drafts, the payment receipts, and the many email exchanges to back up everything written here. We went out of our way to handle this privately and amicably. We are deeply disappointed in your tax preparation services and everything we learned after we terminated our engagement. We will continue to update this review as we learn more. We are hardworking Texans sharing our authentic, documented experience to help other consumers make informed decisions.

I started an architecture office in 2011 with a passion for design and enthusiasm for the future…read more Everything was great except for my books... I had no idea how to structure a company with regard to the IRS. I was too small of a business for a big CPA practice, yet still wanted to work with a profession who would take the time to make me feel like everything was being handled correctly. Blaine Gary was the solution. I have worked with Blaine for years. In the early days, I would give him and his team boxes of receipts and bank statements and they would make sense of all the chaos. Am my company grew, Blaine was their to offer guidance on how to file certain purchases and even how and when to switch from a Sole Prop to an S-Corp (if you don't know what this means, hire Blaine). Better yet, his knowledge of the tax code saves my company money by not overpaying. I wholeheartedly endorse Blaine Gary, CPA for freelancers and small companies. His honesty and integrity instill confidence in his work and his personality meshes perfectly with the Austin way of life.

In our first meeting, Blaine spent tons of time finding out about my business and my goals and he's been the only person to really explain to me why I should consider filing as one type of business entity over another. By the time I left his office, I had signed up for his monthly bookkeeping services and his tax services and I am still very happy with my decision. Blaine even referred me to a great financial advisor, who helped me get my retirement accounts in order and on the right track. Blaine is very professional, efficient, organized (I tried to talk him into coming to organize my office :-)) and friendly, and he's always there to answer my questions. I'm so grateful I found Blaine...I highly recommend him to any small business owner!!

Ellen claims she doesn't treat everyone poorly, only me, but my experience with this CPA has been…read moreanything but enjoyable. I reached out at the very beginning of 2023 for her help to sort through some previous issues with my tax filing a previous year and to catch up my taxes for 2021 and 2022 because I was behind. I expressed to her how important it was that I got the finance stuff under control and it was something I needed to take care of ASAP so I could move through 2023 with better tools. She ensured me she would take care of me so I agreed to work with her. Come April, she barely finished my 2021 taxes and said she was filing an extension for my 2022 taxes. Needless to say, my taxes were filed ON October 15th, which she blamed me for, for not signing the paperwork as soon as she finished it at the end of September, but I just wanted to be able to look over what she did before I submitted which I believe is fair. She said she was setting me up with a payment plan, but my payment plan was never submitted even though she told me it was. She also suggested I file as an s-corp and mentioned this multiple times and I said, "ok, just let me know what you need from me." but nothing ever came of that so I'm sure I'm paying more in self-employment taxes than I need to. I owe the government money for multiple tax years and I received a menacing letter from the IRS to which she responded, "It's not a big deal. That's just a scare tactic." But, it very much IS a big deal to me, my bank account, my business, my goals, etc. Also, it took me texting 3 weeks in a row trying to get ahold of her to ask about these letters from the IRS. I finally got fed up and asked if I needed to find a new CPA so she finally responded that she was recovering from surgery so she didn't respond even though the read receipts showed she saw my texts immediately after I sent them. I specifically asked her if she was familiar with Profit First because I wanted to use that model of accounting and she said she did know it well and we should have a zoom meeting that she could charge me for to talk about it. I agreed thinking I would get the information I needed, but when we got on the call, she stated she actually didn't know anything about Profit First, but she did some googling prior to our talk and then just told me things that I already knew from reading the book. I wanted specific information regarding MY business and the way MY books were, but she just told me generic percentages that didn't even work for me. She repeatedly told me how much time she took out of her personal life to try to learn this just for me as if I owed her for doing her job which she actually lied to me about knowing. I also don't think an accountant learning about another form of accounting is something SO crazy for an accountant to do that it should be brought up over and over, but maybe that's just me. When this all finally came to a head with the IRS documents and her refusing to help me sort it out quickly because it was "no big deal," I asked if the way she was treating me was typical and she then told me no, that it was just me and I am one of the most uncooperative clients she has. (I expressed to her early on that my office days are always Mondays so that is when I can catch up to anything I have missed during the week as I'm out in the field most of the week.) So she would send me a text late on a Wednesday and then text repeatedly if I didn't respond immediately. Even though every time I asked for help, she would claim she was way too busy to respond to me. She always said she had SO many clients to help ,she just didn't have time for me and then if she needed a response from me about something, it had to be right that moment or I became the "difficult client." As a small business owner myself, I would NEVER call someone uncooperative because they didn't text me outside of business hours. And in my opinion, her choice to wait ALL YEAR to start my taxes isn't MY FAULT. If she would have been working on them when they were supposed to be done, she wouldn't have had to rush to get them done by October. My advice to you, if you're someone looking for an experienced CPA who cares about their clients and their money, DON'T HIRE ELLEN. You will lose progress you have made and then be even farther up the river without a paddle and you won't have any idea what to do and she won't care. Hire someone else.

Having now sent in the tax forms, I have comfort that it was the best return I could have filed. Because she is busy, it is important to keep checking in to make sure things are still progressing; perhaps Ellen needs an assistant to help her, but that's beyond my purview. I trust Ellen and that counts for a lot.
