I am a Veteran that is rated with a 90% disability, all of which is service connected. My wife and I are trying to buy a home and found the perfect place. It is listed at $429,900. We made an initial offer of $425,000 and did NOT ask for any seller assistance in closing cost. Basically, it was a clean offer. The agent didn't respond for almost 2 days. Our agent was calling, text messaging and e-mailing the seller agent. Finally, they responded and the sellers countered. They said they wanted $427,500 and they wanted the extra refrigerator, freezer, washing machine and dryer excluded. They also wanted us to put an additional $10,000 down (on top of the $5,000 we already put down with the offer) and they wanted to close in early April. We agreed to all the conditions and price, with the exception of having to add an additional $10,000 in 15 days. We told them we would put down an additional $5,000. Other than that, we agreed to everything. After 2 more days of waiting, the sellers countered and said that they want list price because they heard horror stories about having to deal with the VA appraisers. They basically are discriminating against us for me being a disabled Veteran and using my earned benefits. The seller's agent is not responding to us. She does not feel it is discrimination. The agent's name is Frani Marrione and her Facebook site is https://www.facebook.com/Frani-Morrione-Anthony-Stipa-at-Keller-Williams-Real-Estate-222768987910841/?pnref=story The agent and the sellers are uneducated in how the VA home loan works and won't respond to us anymore. Frani does not respond to communications in a timely manner and has acted unprofessionally in this offer. I hope everyone who reads this will never do business with her or her organization. read more
