Never felt like a cared for patient but rather herded sheep just being fit into a doctors' busy schedule. In Jan 2024 she was diagnosed with bone cancer stage 4. In a matter of two months she had declined rapidly. Trying to get help and support for my mother was an endless stress and struggle. Doctor never called himself until my brother angrily called the office waiting for a reply on how we can help my mother. Her pain was not managed unless we were in the ER. (Rex ER is absolutely miserable) Nutrition was never mentioned yet this is a HUGE part of fighting cancer. We found out 6 months in that they have a nutritionist.... Palliative care wasn't offered till I called every day crying trying to figure out what I could do to help my ailing mother. Then all of a sudden..."oh, let's set you up with palliative care". Pain was managed to a degree then but she could barely eat and had no quality of life. Oxy and Morphine will keep anyone in bed 24/7. Seeking naturopathic and holistic options have been the best move we could've made. Off all pain meds and THRIVING. But now, along with supporting healthy immunity, we are working with Duke toward a BETTER chemo option and the support offered there is incredible. Stay AWAY from UNC Rex!!!

For chemo, Dr. Wehbie and Manikkam with their respective care coordinators Carissa and Rachel and the nurse practitioners Michelle Beard and Beverly Necessary are incredible. They are understanding, intelligent, and experienced. For radiation oncology, Dr. Anderson and Dr. Lim with care coordinator Jennifer are the way to go. Dr. Anderson takes his time so you may have a longer wait but it's worth it since he makes sure all your questions are answered and you are comfortable. Ample parking is available in front and behind the building. It is easy to find since it's located on the first floor and is labeled. Check in at the front desk when you arrive and sit in the waiting room until your name is called. If you are there for radiation, there are private exam rooms and bathrooms near the radiation room. There are also bathrooms in the clinic and infusion area. The infusion nurses are experienced and attentive. They will make sure you are comfortable and offer pillows, blankets, beverages, and snacks. You can bring a visitor with you and masks are no longer required. Prior to starting chemo you will meet with a chemo educator who will answer your chemo related questions. Labs are taken and reviewed before treatment. The clinic has a social worker, financial navigator, clinical research coordinator, and registered dietitian if needed. Overall, I recommend coming here for cancer treatment if you live in the Wake Forest area!

They drew blood but warned us that they may not have gotten enough. They said they should know the next day of the lab needed more blood. A couple days passed and we never heard anything so we assumed they got enough blood and were running the tests. A week later we call to see if they got the test results back and we are told "We didn't get enough blood". We were told that the lab would know right away if we didnt have enough blood, why did it take us calling a week later to find out instead of someone calling us? So we go to WakeMed to get someone who knows what they're doing to redraw the blood for allergy testing. Told it will take 1-2 weeks for results, and they will send them to Wake Forest Peds. We get a call 2 weeks later saying my son does have a peanut allergy, so we set up an appointment with an allergist. The next day, they call my wife to say "Hey sorry, we didnt get enough blood for testing, we need to redraw". Confused she tells me about the phone call so I call back into Wake Forest Peds, ask if he as an allergy or not since they just told us 2 different things. The nurse I talked to says "yes he does have a peanut allergy". At this point, they have now flip flopped multiple times on whether or not my kid is allergic to peanuts or not so I ask for a physical copy of the test results. I go into the office to pick up the paperwork, which shows there is a peanut allergy. What frustrates me the most is that not a single person took any responsibility and just simply said "Hey, sorry about the miscommunication". After this we decide that were done and so move to a different primary care provider. Our Allergist appointment finally comes up, my wife takes my son and the Allergist tells us, WF Peds never sent his results over. The allergists, calls WF Peds, who set this appointment up for us, and they tell them 1) that they never told us he's allergic to peanuts, and 2) that they can't send them the paperwork because it's against policy. Luckily, I kept the paper copy they gave me and was able to scan it over to the Allergist. Even the Allergist said "I see why you left that place." This place is unorganized and unprofessional. Do not take your kids here. TLDR: Son had allergic reaction to peanuts, was told he didn't have an allergy then told he did have an allergy, WF Peds flip flopped multiple times.

Once we got back the nurse seemed as if she had no idea what she was doing. We both tested positive for flu. They wrote an rx for both of us, the pharmacy could not fill the one for my son because they couldn't get approval from our insurance. I called to see if they could switch it to another form of the same medicine and they were closed. I was transferred to their call service and told them the situation and they said a doctor would return my call in 15 mins, which they didn't. So I call the office the next morning they open, they call the pharmacy and call me back. They then proceed to tell me that since another doctor tried to call in a rx (I'm guessing from their call center, which they never let me know anything about) they were no longer going to be involved in my son's care. They told me if I was that concerned about his health I should take him to the Emergency Room. What?!? So here my son sits with the flu and cannot get the medicine he needs because of their negligence. They did not care one bit, they were extremely rude and unprofessional. I will NEVER go back there, and recommend you don't either. But I bet they will still bill our insurance for that doctors visit!

Then some of them left here and started a new practice. I likely should have left then. The doctor I had been seeing canceled my appointments three times in 2024. In January then July and again in September. I'm not sure if they have too many patients but it is very hard to get an appointment that isn't months out. The provider I had been seeing liked to run tests even if these same tests were just done by another provider and she had a copy of the tests. I had enough of that and some of the tests were just unnecessary but could be billed. Prescribing unneeded medicine was something else I noticed here too. I've already tried another provider in the office but she was not good with listening to my concerns either and not very thorough. I will try another before moving to another office.

I went in as a new patient to this location because it's close to where I live. The provider I researched & wanted to see wasn't taking new patients. Ugh!! So, they put me with nurse practitioner, Kristine. HORRIBLE MISTAKE!! Though she was somewhat personable, she DOES NOT listen. I found myself repeating things over and over & she STILL acted like she didn't hear me. I am a bariatric patient, so there are vitamins that I MUST take for life. She didn't seem to get that. She even told me that she asked a dr there (I don't know who) & they told her that I didn't need B12 injections. I may not NEED them, but that's what I prefer and have been doing for years. Just say your office doesn't prefer to do them. Don't tell me that research said I don't need it because I have "lapband" when I DO NOT HAVE LAPBAND. AGAIN, she didn't listen nor did she pay attention to my records. Where tf did she get lapband from?? Each bariatric procedure has different vitamin needs. So, maybe lapband patients don't need B12, but I DO. Anyway, the HIGHLIGHT of my 2-hour visit (because Kristine was SLOW AF) was the lab tech Ms. Becky & the checkout lady. That's a doggone shame that having tubes and tubes of blood taken was the BEST part of this visit. Smh. Just know that I will NEVER go back to see Kristine. I will drive to my regular provider 40 mins away before I ever go back to see her. And I made sure to tell the checkout lady to take her name OFF my record as a provider I'd want to see for future appts. I was given another person's name there, so if I get desperate enough to go there again, I will try that provider instead. The parking is horrible too. Just park in the back if you want to avoid the traffic nightmare. People just can't drive. This 3-stars is for the lab tech & checkout lady only. If I had to rate based on Kristine, you know what I'd give this place.
