I am disheartened to leave the practice as a patient of many years due to an incident of case mismanagement, as well as a general issue with staff rudeness and rigidity, particularly regarding communication. The matter that spurred my decision to finally switch doctors stemmed from an incident wherein my doctor forgot to order the appropriate lab work on my requisition form. I have been on thyroid medicine since I was 16 years old and yet for some bizarre reason, the last round of blood tests my doctor ordered did not check my thyroid levels (unbeknownst to me). As a result, I was told that my prescription refills were being denied because I had not had recent enough bloodwork done to check my thyroid levels. When I asked for an emergency supply to cover the time it will take for my blood to be drawn and levels processed, I was told no -- and then blamed because my voicemail is full. First of all, most doctor's offices ask for permission before leaving voicemails. So, their level of entitlement already feels judgmental. Some people don't even set up their voicemails, so when I was told, "Well you have to answer your PHONE!" it crossed a boundary that is simply not suitable in an environment that purports to facilitate healing. But there is a big problem when it comes to their inflexibility regarding communication, which is limited to UpDoxx and voicemail. The UpDoxx platform is problematic and glitchy; oftentimes the PDF's do not download, I cannot forward e-mails, etc. But more importantly, voicemail and UpDoxx are not the *only* forms of communication. Sure, I get that they refuse to e-mail; but had they truly prioritized resolution, they could have mailed the lab requisition -- just as they have done multiple times in the past. Was this simply an oversight, or was this some kind of a bizarre situation in which they feel entitled to withhold my medication lest I clear my voicemail? Because of the attitude that I (and apparently a lot of other patients) have dealt with from the staff, I no longer feel inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. Nor is my doctor-patient rapport salvageable. So, now I get to wait for my new doctor to review my labs and prescribe me the medication during a precarious phase of my life when the support of a doctor that cared would have been amazing. In sum, I do think it would benefit them to set up an option for a 15-minute type of check-in call with the doctor or PAC when it comes to things like prescription refills. But they have only ever offered me full appointments with the PAC when I am waiting the 2-3 weeks for my appointment with the doctor. When you are already their fees, this policy is unfair and financially punitive. When you are paying the amount that it costs to be seen at The Spring Center, you might as well seek out a genuinely concierge practice. The doctor will be more available, and your care will be more of a priority. They will probably have less archaic limitations when it comes to patient communication. And maybe, just maybe, the staff will be understanding and courteous if you happen to have an extremely busy life and career. They might not even judge you if your voicemail is full! read more

Depends on what your needs are and what sort of mystery situation you are dealing with that AMA is clueless about which is basically everything big pharma meds don't address or address with life altering temporary or permanent side effects. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRACTICE!!! The doctor is arrogant, not caring, and plain rude. She charges a lot of money and gives you a hard time every time you say something or ask a couple of questions. To the doctor: you can have lots of great pictures and words on your website. You can say your mission is "to provide the highest level of care ", But you MUST show that by being compassionate with your work not by being UNavaiable!! When you charge people this much money, you at least have to show that you care. A functional m.d. neighbor referred me to McCann for my daughter as her diagnoses are in McCann's wheelhouse. I knew her prices were high for membership so wanted to make sure before I committed to paying them that this would be a good fit for my daughter. During the brief intake interview over the phone with staff, my daughter asked several informed questions about how McCann and nurse practitioner communicate about patients' cases (as patients see only np for some appointments), asked if McCann reviews chart to ensure new protocols/prescriptions are not counter-indicated by patient's current regime, allergies, or the like, etc. I was aghast as I listened to the answers the staff member provided my daughter. They were curt at best, and non-responsively deflective at worst. The questions my daughter posed were based on past experiences where a doctor failed to review her chart before a consult resulting in inappropriate protocols. The questions she posed dovetailed with comments by patient reviewers who noted communication problems in McCann's delivery of care. The next day we got an email indicating the practice would not be inviting my daughter to be a patient. Good riddance! The only reason is due to the questions posed with the staff member as they already had her medical records so knew she was a good medical fit. Guess they didn't like questions about communication! We decided after the interview that based on the unprofessionalism of the staff member's replies, which other reviewers have also noted, we were not going to sign up. I am a former faculty member at a medical school and I know very well the research on patient-doctor communication which finds medical care suffers tremendously - and all too frequently - when doctor/patient communication is poor. McCann might be knowledgeable but delivery of care depends immensely on good communication which seems lacking in this practice. read more

I read all of the reviews and was astonished that my experiences were the same as many others. I've been going to Dr McCann since 2015. I abided by her policies of no perfume, no scented lotions or hair products or laundry soaps as she and her staff were sensitive to it. My meetings with her were fine it was the office staff that made you always feel unwelcome and walking on eggshells. I had several charges on my credit card so I called to question them. The original lady was very nice but I was driving so I needed to get back to my home to go over everything in front of me to have an intelligent conversation. I called back and she was not at her desk but another lady answered and she was EXTREMELY RUDE! I said I would call back I wasn't going to deal with her. I sent a note on the server and received the information needed and confirmed all charges were correct. My insurance was corrected and that was my fault for which I apologized & took full accountability. Then a week later I receive another note this time from Dr McCann reprimanding me on how to treat her office staff. Not only does she continue to take the side of her staff that treats the paying patients rude she wants me to sign a letter stating I will basically be nice and abide or she's going to no longer allow me to be seen. WHAT?? I'm sorry, I'm an adult not a 2nd grader and I will not be treated like I was in the wrong. To have us sign a note from the "teacher" never. She's very expensive and I too was being led down a path of possible Limes. She had me on numerous supplements as well not really know what's doing what. Long story short - I fired her and her staff and found an amazing new doctor that is actually caring and his staff is amazing. Too bad she cares more about her staff than the truth of what the patients are telling her. Seems she might realize since so many complaints in here are exactly the same.
