I was at work at the time, and my room mates let him in. After finding the broken piece, I brought it up with the owner. The owner called Serviceman Wes and asked him if he broke my keyboard. Of course, he said, "No, it must have been one of his room mates." So of course, I was not reimbursed. The owner said, "Well I've been in this business for (so and so) many years and I've never heard of anyone breaking a computer part before." Just because you haven't experienced it before doesn't mean it can't happen. I have no doubt that it was an accident and that Serviceman Wes didn't even know that he did it, but there was no other explanation. We have a quiet household and my room mates have no reason to walk by my computer. I was very upset with this business's lack of responsibility. When we hired this company, it was with the understanding that our personal property would be safe in their working presence. Roto-Rooter is all I'd ever heard of but mostly because of their commercials, not reviews. Looking at some online experiences, people were estimating $300-$400, my jaw dropped! Instead, I first called a local company who didn't give me the time of day and was very rude so I decided against them as well. (A little side note here, I can't stand when you tell someone that you just want an estimate and when they give you one, and you say, "I'm gonna call around and get some more, thank you" they go on the defensive and start bashing every other company in town. To me, that's just childish; tell me what sets you apart from other companies in the area and be dignified about it.) Ok, back on point now... I called A-1 a little past 10:00pm and the man I spoke to (I wish I remembered his name because he was great) gave me an estimate and explained what he thought might be the issue. He answered all my questions and said he could have someone out at 8:15am the next morning. I was surprised because the last place couldn't even get me in the next day. Morning came and Tyler from A-1 showed up on time, assessed the situation and within 5 minutes, was laying down drop cloth and rolling in his machine. About an hour later, he was done and now everything drains correctly. The best part, the price I was quoted, was the price I paid! I won't give specifics, but let's say it was probably a little less than half of what I would've paid with Roto-Rooter. Bottom line, a great local company that knows how to talk to customers on the phone, show up on time, and get the job done at the price that was quoted.
