Stopped by on a whim from 5k prep and I was surprised, and not pleasantly so... The roasted beef sandwich was overcooked, with muscle separation (IYKYK) and the pulled pork was overly sweet. The potato salad was excellent though, that I'll agree with. Perhaps it was dining near the end of the shift, or dining while they were so heavily short-staffed (they had a sign up), or a combination of both, but, both orders were lackluster. Service was friendly and excellent, but not the sandwiches. I'll try to stop by in the morning if I'm in the area, and see if that makes a difference. read more

I ordered a raw uncooked pork ham with the skin on and I must have it by 12/2/2022. Brian has gone out of his way to answer all my questions and assured me he would make it happen. I usually have a good experience at Kelly's. One time I bought some ground beef that was pink on the outside but gray and a little smelly on the inside. However, this was my only negative experience. They have some really good BBQ pulled pork there, and they will add hamburger buns to take home to make your own sandwiches. read more

Known locally as "The Four-Oh," (it's off old US 40), this is a gas station / mini-mart / butcher and sandwich shop. The selection of wine and beer is pretty good, certainly good enough to forego a midweek trip to a larger grocery. The sandwich shop, which you can enter through the gate on the south side, offers reasonably priced fare and friendly service. Check out the freezer case for good deals on meat. The prior reviews about the filet mignon are correct; I'm not sure that you would believe my report of the price I found, so I'm keeping it to myself. read more

Kelly's Butcher Shop resides in the back of a gas station/convenience store. They have a fair selection of meats, to include lunch meats and cheeses. Full service butcher services are limited, and most special curs can't be done immediately. Caution when making special/unique orders. My wife ordered seven pounds of sliced pork belly, which was promised to her the next day at 4:00 PM. At the time of pick-up, they told us that not only was the order not ready, but that the pork belly had not come in that day. Said they "forgot" to call and let her know! Good thing she didn't need it for a party! They do have a deli on site, and appear to do pretty good lunch business. But I can't comment on that, because I didn't partake. But judging from the number of people there, it must be pretty good. More to come, if I am suddenly impressed with their customer service. read more

I've been coming here for years to get my steaks. When my dad first told me about this place and said to go to the butcher shop in the back of the gas station, I was skeptical. But this place is a hidden gem. They can cut to order, or they have a good selection in their meat case. They also have frozen meat, poultry, fish, and vegetables (onion rings, etc.) in the frozen food case. In their refrigerated case, there's a good selection of local vegetables. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they don't carry grass-fed beef. There's a deli where you can get cold cuts or cheeses made into a sandwich to eat there or by the pound to take home. Tip: look like a regular by knowing to pay for your Kelly's purchases at the gas station register. read more

GREAT prices on bacon wrapped filet mignon...anywhere between $6.99 and $8.99 per pound. I have to admit that at that price I don't get much else here ;) I do get their lunch specials for carry out from time to time. They fax the sheet to our office every two weeks!!! It's the normal soups and deli sandwiches along with a comfort food type option as well. on Fridays they are usually grilling burgers, brats, and pork steaks too! We have them cater our office Christmas party each year and they do a great job. Huge shrimp for a shrimp cocktail platter and a great selection of deli sandwiches. The also have good specials in there deli meats and cheeses so what their ads in the local newspapers! ;) read more

Come here to get gas. They can't get the machine to work. Called the number per the sign on the pump. They don't answer. I go in there and it is a surprise that someone comes to a gas station for gas.... Seriously let's try our A game people. It is not that hard. Kelly's has great meat, a great deli and the employees are always very friendly. I have lived in Troy for almost 15 years and I've bought meat here plenty of times. They also have hot food options in their deli. I haven't had one in a long time but they used to have really great pulled pork sandwhiches. read more

Where else can you get a bacon wrapped filet for $9.99 per pound? This is a great butcher shop! You don't see many of these around anymore. The only weird thing about this shop is it is located in a gas station but I guess that's what you get for being in the middle of Southwest Illinois. You can't get better meat. Great little deli and butcher shop will some hellaciously good sale prices and first rate meats. The service is friendly and they know their meat. The only warning is their breakfast sausage. It's pretty lean but it's ungodly salty. If they'd cut back the salt and add some sage, thyme and pepper it would rock. I get them to run a pork butt through the grinder and add my own spices at home. They are in the back of the convenience store/gas station and have really unique things that you can't find anywhere else. read more

I have lived in Troy now since 2003 and let me tell you that I would have never believed you if you told me before I moved there that the best place in town would be the gas station!! I don't buy meat anywhere but here and everything they have is awesome and fresh. They always seem to have sales going on and its never stuff that you don't want. Their filet's are awesome all the way down to their hamburger. While your there you might as well get you some Trenton bacon at the deli because you cant find any better tasting bacon around. I have gotten some good steaks from Kelly's at a decent price on sale. Mainly strip and ribeye. Didn't care for the quality of the filets. They need to post their specials for the week. I live in Edwardsville about 6 or 7 miles away and used to drive over there every couple weeks but I had several weeks where they didn't have specials on anything I wanted so I just left. I don't go anymore. I'm tired of driving over there without knowing if they have anything I'm even interested in. When I did buy something I always bought other things like bacon, lunch meat etc. so it wasn't like they weren't making any money off me. Now I just go to Joe's Market basket in Edwardsville. They have some nice specials on steaks and the meat is high quality. I would like to be able to find out what their weekly specials are at Kelly's because its just not worth driving there to find out I wasted a trip. read more

This place is a hidden gem! They have a variety of items on the menu and the food is great. It did not take long at all- even during the lunch rush! Large portions and it's cheap too! The gyro was amazing. I can't wait to try the Reuben soup when I go back. read more
