Finally...I got to eat here! Wow! Unbelievably delicious with fantastic service and super friendly staff! Best Club sandwich I've ever had! Really nice inside and save room for dessert! I had the flourless chocolate cake and it is so good I ate every bite! Wonderful restaurant! Go now, but save me a seat, cause I can't wait to go back! Trust me...GO! :)

The sandwiches are huge! I love my chopped Italian sandwich with a creamy sauce and jalapeños. The perfect balance and I was full for hours afterward. They had spicy dill chips to boot! My friend had the ham and cheese which was similarly large. I would definitely come back for the food. The only downside is it was so loud inside my friend and I couldn't hear each other, so I might get the food to-go next time.

Ed's is a deli for adults. You can enjoy a classic delicatessen sandwich while you sip on a masterfully made cocktail. I've done lunch twice at Ed's and both were off the charts. My first lunch was, Chopped Cheese Sandwich and Brussels Sprouts Salad with an Old Fashioned Cocktail. OMG - The Chopped Cheese was an Off Menu Special and it totally rocked my tastebuds. If I have heard the gossip correctly, it became so popular that it is now on the regular menu. Also, the Brussels Sprouts Salad had me wondering, why I didn't like this vegetable when I was a child. It is now one of my favorite veggies. My second lunch, a Reuben Sandwich with Black Bean Soup and my adult beverage was a Sazerac Royale. In my humble opinion, this was the absolute best Reuben I have ever had and the Black Bean Soup was equally as good. I swear, I am going to figure that Black Bean Soup out and make it at home. I loved how they served my Sazerac Royale straight with a glass of ice on the side. Next time I've got to try the pastry case. I've drooled over the offerings, but have never tried any of them. I always sit at the bar and the bartenders offer awesome service. They cannot only advise you on your adult beverage, they can also describe and make recommendations for you food order. Ed's Delicatessen is the place to lunch in Edwardsville.

Wow! We must have been living under a rock for the last year and a half....this place is outstanding!! Stopped in for the first time today to grab some lunch, and the food was so so good! I had the chicken salad and my husband had the Reuben and tomato soup. We had great table service and all the employees we interacted with were very nice. We are looking forward to going back and sitting at their great bar!! Oh, and on the way out, we got two chocolate chip cookies...definitely DO NOT skip trying those!

Such a great addition to the downtown area! A friend and I went in for lunch on a Thursday and were sat right away. They have sit down service and takeaway. The prices are more than your typical sandwich shop, but the quality justifies the price. We got the fried bologna and chicken salad sandwich to split, then upgraded to the Brussels and cucumber salads. Everything was amazing!! You can tell how much care was put into every single menu item. Our server was kind and made sure our drink was filled. This was the perfect semi-casual lunch spot. Highly recommend!

Ed's needs to be at the top of your list to try ASAP! The sandwiches are huge and pack a full punch of so much delicious flavor! I ordered the Reuben, my friends ordered the Turkey on Focaccia & Roast Beef sandwich and they were all AMAZING! For sides we got the cucumber salad and olive salads.. def recommend everything on the menu! Important tip: save room for dessert The staff was super helpful and service was very fast. The ambiance is very welcoming. Can't wait to go back!

Can't believe it took me so long to hear about this spot. I had the chopped Italian sandwich and wedge salad. They had an awesome line up of sandwiches. They offer some small plates at dinner time. The cocktail program looks good. They also offer a line up of homemade desserts. What a great addition to the Edwardsville food scene. They have street parking and a lot close by. The service was so helpful with what items to order. Can't wait to come back.

Had wanted to try this place for awhile and it did not disappoint! For sandwiches and salads, the menu is diverse! A surprisingly good amount of vegetarian options that doesn't only include salads. I was with a 4 top and no one left unsatisfied. The Rueben was large and in charge, the Banh Mi was packed with flavor and texture and the Falafel burger and Martine salad left my vegetarian friends wanting more! Service was friendly and attentive and never kept us waiting!

I've been to Ed's four times now, but this was my first dine-in experience. I consider myself somewhat of sandwich snob but Ed's never disappoints. If you love a great sandwich, you've got to give Ed's a try. All of the menu is unique and everything we've tried so far started and ended with a Wow! Easy 5 Stars and I'm thrilled to have a place this excellent in Edwardsville. By the way, the cocktails are fabulous too. Looking forward to going back at night.

I love delicatessen's and when I heard about Ed's in Edwardsville, it was definitely on the list to try. It did not disappoint! The vibe was kind of cool hipster, but laid-back as well. Our server was thoughtful and kind and patiently answered all of our questions. The sandwiches we got were upscale versions that were done immaculately. I also tried the tomato soup and it was delicious. It is definitely a place that is a delicatessen but done with a different spin as there were multiple adult beverages and the sandwiches had their own special tweaks on them. Not your standard New York style deli, but certainly within the genre of a deli. A place to have a nice dinner out or you could go and hang and sit at the bar and enjoy a drink. This is a can't miss place!

Can you stop in a deli for takeout dessert? Yes, you can, and so we did. We received a friendly greeting as we arrived, and smiles from several staff, which encouraged some questions and conversation. We ended up with a very good peanut butter cookie and lemon bar. As others have noted, the layout still carries the aura of 222 Artisan bakery, but with some new touches. Thanks, Ed's Deli, for a good first visit.

    Saturday morning breakfast sandwich

My husband and I love Ed's. It is full of absolutely fantastic food and stand up people! Everyone who works there is so nice and every meal has been to die for. Chef Heath's undeniable passion for food is evident in all of his creations. He's a genuinely kind person who also happens to be extremely talented, a killer combo second only to the amazing soup/salad/sandwich combos he and his team serve up! Ed's is absolutely one of our favorite spots and has been a great addition to Edwardsville. I've ordered tons of different things but I'm obsessed with the brussels salad, chopped Italian special, and their Saturday morning breakfast sammies. The fish sandwich special is so good that we come every time it's available. Make sure to check out this gem of a spot, you'll be glad you did!

I found that they carry two of my favorites - Alden's Organic Ice Cream and Prima Ancestral Protein Bars. In case you don't know, Alden's Organic is an Oregon-based brand specializing in certified organic ice cream and frozen desserts. it emphasizes high-quality, organic ingredients while avoiding artificial additives, high-fructose corn syrup, and other common conventional ice cream components. Their products use milk and cream from humanely raised cows, and many are gluten-free or offer dairy-free options. Prima Ancestral Protein Bars are animal-based protein bars designed around "ancestral" or nose-to-tail, real-food nutrition principles. They focus on grass-fed ingredients, avoiding seed oils, artificial additives, refined sugars, and ultra-processed isolates common in many protein bars. Popular options include: Cookie Dough, Salted Caramel (my favorite), Cacao, Mocha, and Mint Chip. This is (IMHO) the best protein bar one can buy. So now that I've totally convinced you on purchasing these two great (and good for your body) products, I'll continue with my review. Along with these two great finds, I purchased some Organic Brazil Nuts, Organic Sourdough Bread, and a couple of Zum Bar goats milk soap (frankincense and myrrh, tyvm). If you've never tried a Zum Bar you really should. Friendly employees and a comfortable family atmosphere store made for a very pleasant and enjoyable shopping experience. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area.

I've always loved a good or even halfway decent (?) sub sandwich, especially from Quiznos. But…read morerecently I've noticed a severe decline in both quality of food and the customer service at the Edwardsville location. Went in for two sandwiches for myself and my partner on 9/5 around 7:30 pm, and we are strictly vegetarian diets. Now, I understand that it is ultimately up to the consumer to ensure that their food meets their dietary restrictions. However, two things may be true at once, so it is also true that there could definitely be more closely followed protections/procedures against cross contamination. Especially the kind of cross contamination that would be very easy to prevent, like something as simple as changing your gloves/knife. Anyway. I ordered two sandwiches, and specified right away that these will both be "all vegetarian, please." The girl making the orders just stared at me and said "ok." Not even after my partner said "we have a meat allergy," did this girl think twice about changing her gloves or the cuttingboard. After she set the base for 2 veggie guacamole sandwiches, and put them in the toaster, it only continued to get worse. The boy who took the sandwiches out of the oven to finish them off seemed possibly brand new. He had not changed his gloves either, and the sandwiches right before ours were packed with meats. I requested that he change out the knife because we are vegetarian. He seemed confused and lost at my request, and had no sense of urgency whatsoever in going to grab a new knife. After he got rid of the dirty knife and grabbed a new one, he began right away folding our sandwiches up. I asked him about the lettuce, tomato, guac, etc. that are supposed to be toppings..? And the blank stare I got back was enough indication to me that this employee had zero clue what is listed on the menu. After looking around for the other employee, who was busy helping another customer and unable to assist him, the boy began to "take a guess" and started trying to put guacamole on the sandwiches, but the guac bottle was dripping liquid onto the sandwiches... At this point we said "nevermind, it's okay we changed our minds" and walked out. Where is the manager?! Never going back, and neither should you. Would give 0/5 stars if I could.

It summarizes their advice to businesses that have diversified so much that they've diminished the value they once provided in their most basic services. Here's why the phrase comes to mind in reference to D-Edwardsville. Years ago when it opened, it became my first-choice grocer, a moderately expensive but close-to-home alternative to specialty grocers in St. Louis. We could find nearly everything we really needed there, including gluten-free items. I was particularly happy that the fish counter offered fresh and previously frozen items that were as good as those I picked up 30 - 40 miles away. In recent months, I've been less enthused to shop at D-Edwardsville. Whereas the traffic flow of the east end used to draw attention of the shopper toward produce, deli, fish, and meat, now attention is drawn just as much toward the prominent placement of an expanded and generally high-priced wine-liquor section. The produce selection rarely seems as good as Schnuck's or Walmart. And the fish counter that I used to love is now a place I avoid, especially after some bad fish purchased during the yearend holidays. So bad that citrus juice and even alcohol rinse (with sake) could not save it. I imagine Edwardsville grocery competition is stiff these days, and D has a difficult challenge retaining market share and making a profit. I sympathize with the dilemma, but from my perspective, more alcohol or a phone app with coupons won't make much of a difference. In my opinion, flawed as it may be, I'll be muttering quietly as I roll my cart out the door, "Stick to the knitting.
