The smell when we walked in- drool!!! We left with cider, donuts, an apple pie crumb and two half loafs- a pumpkin chocolate chip and the raspberry loaf. The raspberry loaf while delicious was a little on the verge of being too sweet even for my sweet tooth. The pumpkin on the other hand not as sweet but still yummy. The donuts didn't get past the parking lot- wow! The apple crumb was scrumptious and fully eaten at Thanksgiving dinner. We warmed up the cider also delish! Really happy we found this gem, usually when we visit family in Rochester we have another farm we hit up, but this was a great recommendation from family. Upon arrival, the aroma of fresh pastries and donuts danced ever so slightly in the air, (and we were outside) so I KNEW we were in for some amazing treats! Their selection of GORGEOUS pies, pastries, fruit butters and of course, DONUTS was top tier. I have never had an apple or raspberry board, but am contemplating driving 3 hours (1 way) BACK to get a hefty winter supply. I've tried to Google "apple board recipes" and to my dismay, had happened upon a rabbit hole on "charcuterie of the apple and accompanying dips" variety; heretofore beknownst as a "woodchuck hole". * I know how to serve sliced apples and what to dip them in. I grew up going to this local farm each year. They make fresh pressed cider and lots of baked goods such as fresh donuts, pies, zucchini bread and apple crisp. The cider was good UV treated which is the best .The fried cakes, powdered, cinnamon, plain and glazed, the best we have ever tasted and we have lived around here for 30 years. I actually don't think that Kelly's donuts are as phenomenal as everyone else says, but I love their cider and apple pies. Their cider is not as sweet as you get at the typical grocery store and only lasts for a week or so; it has a fresher, cleaner and more natural taste to it. Their apple pies are delicious! read more

It's super cool that you can watch them make the cider. I've never seen anything like it. They even provide samples of cider as you watch how it's made. This place has apple everything! My boyfriend and I shared an apple crisp with vanilla ice cream and some donuts. They have plain, cinnamon, powdered sugar and chocolate. We tried one of each- my favorite was the cinnamon. Unfortunately the chocolate one is a chocolate coated plain donut and cost 25 cents more. I was hoping it was double chocolate! There is limited seating so you might have to stand and eat. Theres also delicious cider that you can see being pressed, samples are available. When I was growing up there were acres of apple trees and I spent a lot of my childhood climbing and picking from them. I went to Kelly's Farm Market for the first time today since my boyfriend said it was a childhood favorite to go to for their cider. I have to say compared to the Wegman's cider I usually get, this was hands down THEE BEST! It was a mix of so many delicious apples and we got to watch the process and sample it before we bought it. The atmosphere was cozy and the bee exhibit was cool. There are pumpkins available to purchase but the selection wasn't as big as I had hoped so we left without one. We did buy their moon cookies which were okay, not above and beyond but hit the spot. We also left with apple crumble bread that I'm dying to try. Their staff was very friendly, especially the two guys pouring our fresh cider! We will back back a few more times this season for their cider and sweet treats and it's a cute spot for a Sunday visit. read more

Kelly's has excellent donuts. They did change their recipe in recent years that stopped chocolate covered donuts from having chocolate bits pooled around the bottom. Last year I ordered a dozen donuts well done/crispy with double coat of chocolate made old style with chocolate left around the bottom. They were expensive but awesome! I have been going here for many years in the fall time. use to get our pumpkins here, which you still can you walk in and it does feel homey. there is a little family room area with couches and a fireplace, that they keep up quite well. to the left is really neat because you can watch them as they make their cider. the whole process and machine is cool to watch. they aren't always doing the whole process but sometimes you can see them doing part of it. there is always someone at the dispensing station giving you free samples. you can then ask for a half gallon or full gallon to be poured right on the spot. nice and fresh! love it. you then go to the other side of the building and they have their baked goods. popcorn, cookes, cupcakes, donuts, pies, cakes, candy apples, fudge, bread.. the list goes on. they have a great selection that they keep replenishing. they also have a separate fridge where you can pick up extra gallons of cider. when youre in the baked goods aread dont forget to pick up a cup of apple crisp. its absoluetly delicious! i get it every year. you have the choice to even add carmel and/or ice cream to the top. outside there is not only a bunch of pumpkins but already picked apples as well. to me... i feel like this beats any apple/farm market there is in rochester and i have been to quite a few. read more

This was my first visit to Kelly's Farm Market as part of a tour of the area tasting cider and eating donuts. We started with Schutts in Penfield, then traveled across town to Zarpentine Farms and Kelly's Farm Market in Hilton and finally Hurd in the Holley area. The clear winner for the best cider - Hurd Orchards. Very full and rich. Zarpentine was a good distance behind in second. Kelly's was a close third, and Schutts was a distant fourth. The cider at both Kelly's and Schutts was very weak and almost tasteless at Schutts. We didn't care for the donuts, or fry cakes as people in this area of the country like to call them at Schutts. Zarpentine's were good and we loved the apple cakes and in particular the apple pie (I had another piece for lunch today) from Kelly's which was outstanding. Of the apple farm markets, Zarpentine doesn't have any character. But the baked goods do indeed taste great. Schutts does have some atmosphere, but the place is always bustling and everyone is there to get in and get out. I actually enjoyed the homey atmosphere at Kelly's and the fact that on this cool day we could sit by a roaring fire inside on comfortable couches and chairs and enjoy our apples. I was really intrigued by the fact that you could get apple cobbler and soft serve ice cream but let me tell you, you get awfully full drinking cider and eating donuts/fry cakes. It's a good way to put on the pounds. Atmosphere, well, Hurd always will take the cake here. The farm market is truly a wonderful place and the barn was open and set for a evening dinner. It reminded me of the past Fall dinners we attended with friends that were so wonderful. You really must make an effort to attend one of these dinners, the owners put on such wonderful meals featuring their own fruits and vegetables. I don't think it's fair at all to downgrade a rating simply because it's cold, Marissa. That's a risk you take with an environment like this. The farm market and the dinners and luncheons they do are unparalleled in this area and if you haven't heard about them, Google them to find out why they have such a following. So even though I didn't care for the cider, I like the market itself and their baked goods so they'll get a 5 from me. Definitely worth another visit, particularly when I'm hungry. read more

I have been in love with this place since I was a child. I make my autumnal pilgrimage for a loaf of pumpkin bread with chocolate chips and a gallon of cider. I've been to other apple farms that press cider, bake pies, fry donuts, and bake pastries and other tasty goods, but Kelly's is the best. Even without the nostalgia factor I think they still win. They have full and half loaves of pumpkin bread with or without chocolate chips, and apple with raspberries or cranberries. Their pies are made from scratch and the main reason most people go here. They have a several kinds of apple pies, strawberry-rhubarb, peach, blueberry and too many more to name. Their homemade fudge is indulgent. Anything with almond or almond paste in the case is fantastic and a personal favorite. They fry the classic choices of donuts, which come out hot and fresh. It seems Thanksgiving time is when they ramp-it-up and have plenty of varieties to pick from. Their apple cider is UV pasteurized and not heat pasteurized, which I think keeps the original flavor better. I wish they still had "raw" apple cider, but like "raw" milk and hamburgers cooked rare these things are nearly impossible to find anymore. The place is small, but has a lot. You can quickly pick apples and pumpkins from the front lot or take your time and walk out back to choose your own. There is even a fireplace to sit and warm up by. Kelly's tends to have a few heirlooms varieties and trying out a few hybrids. Sometimes these are available. If I remember correctly, two of the names I really liked were the Northern Spies and Royal Russets. Ladies, the bathroom for customers is an outside port-o-john. Kelly's Fruit Farm was an amazing surprise. I haven't been in over 10 years. It has something for everyone, pumpkin patches, apple picking, apple cider donuts, cider, fudge, breads, pastries, or my personal favorite warm apple crisp with vanilla soft serve ice cream on top. Used to love this place for its charm, but now hate it for its business practices. This October, we stopped to buy a half gallon of cider, a half-peck of apples, and one box of donut holes to share with our family (4 adults, 2 young kids). While the merchant admits that the charges should have been $14, our credit card was charged $74. The merchant refuses to issue a refund for the overcharged amount. The store was crowded, the cashier was distracted and having trouble working the register, and her mistake of hitting one wrong button now costs us an extra $60. Buyer beware. read more

This is my FAVORITE farm market to go to during the fall season. There are pumpkins out front, they serve free cider, and something for those interested in the behind the scenes and how things are made, they have the machinery where the make the cider out and visible to the customer. There's also a little cozy sitting area to enjoy the goodies you buy. They have the best fresh cider I have ever tasted! the donuts are fresh and yummy as well. Also try apple turnovers and apple cheese pockets (pastries) which are one of my favorites. There's pumpkin bread which we bought half a loaf to take home too. Not to mention there's a bunch of different pies and other goodies to try. Staff is nice and helpful too. Although a bit of a ride I brought my two children here today because I remember such positive experiences here as a kid. Found the customer service to be lacking. The apples were extremely mealy. There was no hours listed for when they were pressing cider and nobody was willing to tell you. We waited in line for 30 minutes to get mini pies only to be told once we got up there they didn't have any. No apology other than suggesting we buy an expensive large pie. The pie crumb topping was delicious but the apples were unevenly cooked making some soft and others hard. The cider donuts were absolutely delicious. But I don't think we will make another trip here just because of the bad feeling bad customer service left. A very recent trip to the farm to purchase baked goods (Pies), Cider and Apples. For years I have been going and buying the pies and they were always Amazing. This trip, not so good. Not only are they expensive but the taste was just not there. Double Crust "special order" Pie crust tasted like flour and was tough. Inside (apples and spices) were extremely tasteless! I grew up in Rochester and I moved away in 1975. I love when I can get to Kelly's whenever I'm here in the fall. In my opinion they make the best cider in the world! The bakery is fantastic.
