I came here to do the corn maze. The maze was alright, definitely got lost and it took about an hour to complete. They have a fun interactive BINGO game through out the maze as well and say you can be raffled to win a prize. Other than the corn maze there is nothing else to do. Zarpentine's has always been and will always be our go to for fall fun. I don't care what anybody says: their cider, fry cakes, and apple fritters are by far our favorite in the greater Rochester area. The maze is also huge, challenging, and fun with a different theme/scavenger hunt each year. They also have a pumpkin patch, corn chucking, hayrides, bouncy houses, concessions and more. We also love coming out in the winter for their all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast with homemade maple syrup. We never leave here disappointed! read more

I had seen the signs for The Original Zarpentine Farms' "All You Can Eat Buckwheat Pancake Breakfast" signs quite a number of times whilst driving around the Hilton area and the fact that those same signs touted the including of homemade sausage, applesauce, and cider as well and I was often intrigued. Upon seeing a photo ad on a bulletin board at a Top's store, I knew I would be going soon, I just wasn't sure when exactly. Then they published a BOGO coupon for Valentine's Day breakfast and I figured, "What better way to spoil my hubby than to let him eat all the pancakes he wants and I don't have to clean up after him?" Haha...man oh man did we get MUCH more than we had ever imagined! The whole establishment is run by family, which, in my opinion, gives it a more homey atmosphere. And it's almost always crowded (not just on holidays with coupons) from what I gathered...another good sign that we were probably in for a treat. There was going to be a bit of a wait so we wandered the attached store for a bit. Though small, the offerings were many...jellies, preserves and butters of many fruit persuasions (I personally opted for a large jar of Pumpkin Butter - UPDATE it was delicious), along with multiple types of apples, candles, syrups, their pancake mix, alpaca clothing, as well as freshly baked pastries and much more! I could have filled up and/or gone broke before I even had a chance to be seated for the breakfast I'd come for. :-) Finally, a table opened up and we got to bask in the deliciousness that is those homemade buckwheat pancakes with their own maple syrup we'd been anticipating...and we weren't disappointed!! Light and fluffy and flavorful. Along with the fresh applesauce and hot cider, and what has to be close to, if not THE best sausage patties I have ever had (also made right on the premesis) this was a breakfast to die for. That along with the friendly and attentive staff made our Valentine's breakfast very memorable. Though this was our first visit, it will certainly not be our last! I don't buy many pies but the Apple Caramel Walnut pie at Zarpentine's was an "o my gosh" moment. That was one of the best pies the wife and I have ever tasted. Great selection of apples...pies of all sorts, delicious (the apple pies are especially good!)...freshly pressed cider, and you *have* to get an apple fritter they are unbelievably good, especially if you are lucky enough to get one hot out of the oven! The negatives: I don't think they offer "u- pick ( at least they didn't last year). Can get a bit crowded in the autumn during prime apple season, of course, and it is a tiny parking lot...but still, a totally "must do" in the fall. read more

This was my first visit to Zarpentine Farms as part of a tour of the area tasting cider and eating donuts. We started with Schutts in Penfield, then traveled across town to Zarpentine Farms and Kelly's Farm Market in Hilton and finally Hurd in the Holley area. The clear winner for the best cider - Hurd Orchards. Very full and rich. Zarpentine was a good distance behind in second. Kelly's was a close third, and Schutts was a distant fourth. We didn't care for the donuts, or fry cakes as people in this area of the country like to call them at Schutts. Zarpentine's were good and we loved the apple cakes and in particular the apple pie (I had another piece for lunch today) from Kelly's which was outstanding. Of the apple farm markets, Zarpentine doesn't have any character. But the baked goods do indeed taste great. Schutts does have some atmosphere, but the place is always bustling and everyone is there to get in and get out. I actually enjoyed the homey atmosphere at Kelly's and the fact that on this cool day we could sit by a roaring fire inside on comfortable couches and chairs and enjoy our apples. I was really intrigued by the fact that you could get apple cobbler and soft serve ice cream but let me tell you, you get awfully full drinking cider and eating donuts/fry cakes. It's a good way to put on the pounds. Atmosphere, well, Hurd always will take the cake here. The farm market is truly a wonderful place and the barn was open and set for a evening dinner. It reminded me of the past Fall dinners we attended with friends that were so wonderful. You really must make an effort to attend one of these dinners, the owners put on such wonderful meals featuring their own fruits and vegetables. I don't think it's fair at all to downgrade a rating simply because it's cold, Marissa. That's a risk you take with an environment like this. Located in beautiful apple country outside of Hilton. Not the the largest operation around, but what they do, they do very well. Great apple fritters! Much smaller than the ones you get at Wegmans & packaged 13 to a container. They sell so fast, usually the ones you get are still warm - ours were- yummmm! Fried cakes, cider, apples , even a space for crafters (with respect to these nice ladies, this was not stuff I'd spend money on). Also looked like they had hayrides. Prices were very reasonable & parking was ok- it's going to be a bit crazy on a fall weekend! Nice place for your cider/donut fix. read more

Went for corn maze and other fall fun festivities. Well the corn maze was pretty good, there are some spots though that you can't tell if its supposed to be path or just not very well grown in. We figured it out though and had a pretty good time wandering in the maze. They make it kind of a challenge to seek out security guards to gather 4 different colored popsicle sticks so that you can enter your name into a raffle. The rest of the experience was poor at best. The "playground" for the children was old and rickety and I saw many splinters in those kids futures. The grass around them wasn't even mowed...Then they had a "corn box" like a sandbox but with corn, which had an age limit of 6, well our 8 year old wasn't too thrilled with that. They have a corn cannon, kinda neat but you have to pay to shoot the corn. They also have a hey ride which you also have to pay for, and then if you get a pumpkin you have to pay for that as well. All of these extras are on top of paying for the corn maze. There was nothing else for the kids to do, and they got bored fast. It was just not worth the money. There are other farms all over the rochester area that are way better for the price, and have more for children to do. I know it was early in the season but if you say you are open, then make sure everything is ready to go. read more

This review is for the corn maize. Well-maintained. Pretty good for the first-timer at the first hour. Later, because the only view is always the same you will gradually lose the interest. Suggestion: -set up some portable chair between the maize, so people have something to rest on instead of being on foot with maize all the time. -connect the right part on maize map to the central part. Because the location of entrance, usually people are tired (and somewhat bored) before reaching that side. Having easier access will help the interest and keep up the passion to finish a maize. read more

I've gone to this corn maze in the past and had a good time, but this year (2015) was not worth the $8 adult admission price. The only objective this year is to find four colored popsicle sticks. The security guards have them. But when I was in there the first guard we found had 3 of the sitcks! He said they were short staffed. He also told us how to get to the guard that had the 4th stick. I get that they were using a Pac-Man theme (4 ghosts/4 sticks), but I like a corn maze with clues that take a long time to figure out. I was in and out of this maze in under 30 minutes. There is another corn maze that is a bit of a drive to get to but it is worth it. I'm going to go to that one next weekend and will probably never return to Zarpentine's maze. I absolutely love going to zarpentines for their donuts! Their fritters are good too, their glaze is very sweet but truthfully I enjoy the donuts more! Ask for the donuts or fritters at the back counter for guaranteed fresh, warm product. This place smells delicious! read more

Nice place for apples but don't bother to go to their pancake breakfast. Syrup watered down, pancakes are extremely thin....more like a crepe than a pancake. Crowded, noisy, terrible. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more
