I took the free one week, and went to several classes. Trying to learn the moves, I would start out at the front, and them somehow would get nudged out by the other dancers, winding up towards the back. One dancer noticed this and said, you really need to stay up front to learn the moves. This "nudging out" happened in different classes with 3 different instructors. These instructors should have made note of new people in the class, and invite us to the front to better learn the moves. This did not happen because these people are nurses, attorneys, etc. and not instructors at all.

However, The owner at SSDS opened our eyes to how a truly positive experience dance can and should be. My girls have flourished under the guidance of the caring, professional, and encouraging teachers and staff at SSDS. In just a couple of years we saw dramatic improvement in their technical capabilities and in their confidence within themselves. Dance is so much more than just physical skills and the teachers and staff focus on the entire dancer to include the mental side as well. There are a lot of studios to choose from in this area and we've visited or know people at a lot of them. SSDS stands apart in their compassion, inclusiveness, and diversity for sure. Their teachers routinely get additional training and are always looking for ways to push and improve the dancers. We highly recommend SSDS!! Non company dancers are ignored or outright bullied in some cases. They just lost several of their best teachers. There are way too many other better studios in town with professional dancers who also care about all their students and are not stuck in the late 90s or early 2000s (not inclusive at all).

I think it is heinous that this dance studio thinks it is OK for my 6-year old's dance performance to be at 10:05pm. All the family in town (including her younger brother who has begun to meltdown) was too exhausted to even enjoy it.

I am appalled at how unconcerned Ann and LeighAnn were that I asked to have a copy of our dance written down for my 5 year old so we could practice it at home prior to the recital. Yes, she is only 5, but they were so nonchalant about the fact that she doesn't know the dance that I was taken by surprise. This is my daughter's moment to shine, not be embarrassed in front of all of her family and friends. You would think that this would also be their objective - Help every dancer do their best at the recital. What a great way to turn off a small child to dancing, especially when she loves it so much. I would not, under any circumstance, recommend Ann's Studio to anyone.
