After attacking Walmart in Barrhaven we were famished. It was around 8:30 pm and we popped into Kelsey's. They were having a special "Burger Fest" menu, to which we both got burgers. He got a Bacon Bourbon BBQ burger with Angry Fries. (Fries tossed in Sriracha sauce) I try to keep it lighter so I built my own burger with a grilled chicken breast, pesto mayo, bacon and a side green salad. These are both regular menu items. Our group had a reservation for a team dinner, and a large section of the restaurant had been reserved specifically for us. The reservation was for 6:30 p.m., and at no point did the restaurant appear to be operating at full capacity. Despite serving a group of more than 40 guests, only one server was assigned to our entire section. The result was a level of service that can only be described as unacceptable. After waiting nearly two hours for our meals, many people in our group were frustrated, and my husband eventually requested the bill because it seemed as though our food had been forgotten altogether. Remarkably, shortly after the complaint was made, the food suddenly began arriving. This raises serious concerns about how our reservation was being managed. Delays can happen, but keeping a large group waiting close to two hours in a restaurant that was not particularly busy is simply inexcusable. What was even more disappointing was the complete lack of accountability afterward. No meaningful attempt was made to address the situation or compensate the group for the inconvenience. Given the size of our party and the amount spent that evening, a discount or some other reasonable gesture would have been appropriate. Instead, only a few individuals who complained were offered a voucher for a free dip, which felt more dismissive than helpful. A restaurant that accepts large reservations should be prepared to serve them efficiently. Unfortunately, this experience demonstrated poor planning, poor communication, and a lack of respect for customers' time. What should have been an enjoyable team event turned into an evening of frustration and disappointment. Based on this experience, I would be very hesitant to return and would not recommend this restaurant for large group events. read more

My son's basketball team was visiting Ottawa for their OBA finals participation, and the coach made a reservation for our team and families for 6:30 p.m. When I arrived, I was directed to a large section that had been reserved for us, with a room-wide table in the middle. At first, it appeared that our group size had been well accommodated, as we were also given an entire section of approximately a dozen booths. The restaurant was not full at the time of our reservation, nor did it appear to reach full capacity during our visit. Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that only one waitress had been assigned to our large party. The majority of us did not receive our drinks until about 30 minutes into our visit, and our food took more than two hours to arrive. In fact, the food only started coming out after one of the other parents told a server that he was ready to leave and have dinner somewhere else. At that point, the food suddenly began arriving within minutes. While we genuinely enjoyed the company of our team and families, the level of disregard and lack of accountability from the restaurant was very disappointing. Our group comes to Ottawa every year for this tournament, but unfortunately, we will not be returning to this location. We later found out that a couple of guests were given vouchers for spinach dip or chips, but there did not appear to be any meaningful effort to address the inconvenience experienced by the group as a whole. No sincere apology, appropriate discount, or reasonable compensation was offered, despite the fact that we were a group of over 40 people, many of whom spent approximately $30 to $60 each. Overall, the service was extremely disappointing and fell far below expectations for a restaurant handling a large reservation. This experience left a very negative impression, especially given that the reservation had been made well in advance and the restaurant should have been prepared to serve a group of our size. read more

My wife and I stopped in on a cold December afternoon for a snack to hold us before dinner. The young waitress, Nallia, was smart, funny, patient and had a great attitude toward service. We had a half order of nachos with a change of cheese since we aren't fans of caso. When the order came it was quite large. I thought we got the wrong order but no, it was just a generous serving. We don't usually eat at Kelsey's but we'll be back to this one for the same order and hopefully the same waitress. read more

We were a group of 7 adults about 6:00 pm on Saturday night. our server was excellent, she was friendly and accurate. the food was unfortunately only okay. I had the half rack of ribs which was tender and tasty but only just warm enough. the baked potato was not hot enough - the butter did not melt on it. My friend's chicken quesadilla was quite soggy in places. The nachos were okay. The person who had salmon said it was good. Overall it was a mediocre meal but the server was great! read more

I've been going to Kelsey's for a couple of years with my family because the service is amazing and the food is consistently great. They have a delicious plate to entice everyone's taste. It is cooked to perfection and your night is set if you get served by Jamie or Ally. As previously mentioned there's something for everyone and the same goes to the sitting area. Whether it's a large good, a romantic dinner or you're going solo you will absolutely enjoy yourself. I was about to give 5 stars. More on that later. Called the restaurant on St Patricks day at 6pm for dinner, thinking there was no way we would be able to get in there for dinner at 630. Answer: "no problem, we look forward to seeing you". AWESOME! Got there on time, found a parking spot right by the front door. Love it when that happens. The three of us were greeted at the desk very quickly. Seated very quickly with our menus. Strike 1: my daughter is almost 12, and should not need a kids menu, or crayons! Our server was with us promptly and took our drink order. Water for the ladies, coffee for me. Was pleasantly surprised at how good the coffee was! Order taken: Queso Burger for me, Holiday burger for my daughter, and the Thai Shrimp curry bowl for my wife. 40 minutes go by, and no food. Server comes around to offer to top up my coffee. I say "sure, but the food would be better!" 5 minutes later, she comes back with a fresh pot, and the manager. Manager apologizes and says she's going the make things right - and she does when the bill comes. Our tip shows our gratitude. The food: freaking fantastic all around. My burger had just the right amount of heat. I had the broccoli cheddar soup with it. Just right, not too salty as I had come to expect. The holiday burger was excellent (stole a bite), and the noodle bowl was perfect. Potion size was perfect on all three counts - not too big that you felt stuffed, not too small that left you wanting. Plates cleaned. Dessert? Nope. Quite satisfied thanks! We leave happy, and think that we must return with my son. He lives for food like this! Now, why not the 5th star? Warning, I'm going to be blunt. Daughter threw up late that night, and my wife had the runs the next day. I was fine - I admit I have an iron stomach. Food poisoning? Probably not, as they now are fighting nasty colds, no doubt a virus going around. So, in conclusion, had the food not been delayed, and my ladies been under the weather, that 5th star would be there. No doubt we will be returning! read more

Recently returned to location with the family after a long time of not eating here for no particular reasons and was very surprised and disappointed in the decor changes. It used to feel warm and cozy now this location just feels like a cold cafeteria with a menu not much better. This used to be one of my first choices in Barrhaven, not any longer. There are much better options when in this area. Do your self a favor and skip this location completely. read more

Very good for a chain restaurant. The chicken dishes especially are high quality, even the kids chicken fingers. The servers are well trained and know their stuff. It can take a while to get your drinks because they all come from the bar which is usually run by one person. Better service here than the pubs, but not as good for beer, burgers and fries, as is typical of chains. read more

I've gone here on several occasions with friends, and find that the good is usually of good quality (although I prefer Milestones or Moxie's). They have drink specials, and they are pretty good. I really enjoy their Cajun chips that comes with the mains! Sit on the patio for a relaxing people watching experience. read more

Kelsey's has a good spinach dip but everything else on the menu is okay at best. The pasta is a miss here unfortunately. The bar on the other hand is a great place to watch a sports game or to get a drink with friends. The cocktails are great on the other hand. Service is pretty darn good to be honest no issues there. I've never been a huge fan of Kelsey's to begin with, as I found everything about the chain to be quite average, so after their re-branding, I thought I would give it another try. I heard it was one of the first restaurants in Canada to be re-branded. I'm kind of puzzled with the outside of the building - big bright HELLO sign lit up, with "Kelsey's" nowhere to be seen at first glance. If you didn't know any better, I'm sure you'd probably think it was just some new bar, which is totally what we thought when they renovated. The inside is more colorful and the servers wear brightly colored t-shirts to match the rainbow-colored handkerchiefs, or whatever they were, wrapped around beer taps. They took down the wall to separate the bar area from the dinner tables/seating, which can be both good and bad, depending on why you're there. I noticed the men were wearing one color and the women another, which I'm not sure I agree with from a diversity and equality perspective, but that's a different discussion. The menu has changed as well, keeping a couple of the more popular items, but mostly new dishes and updates/tweaks on some of the old ones. We ordered the spinach dip as an appetizer to share. It had red pepper and onions in it and came with thick and deep-fried pita points. I think I actually enjoyed the deep-fried pita more than I did the actual spinach dip. It was creamy but salty, and seemed like it was just cream cheese, maybe some mayo/sour cream, and some cheddar tossed in there, nothing great and again, pretty average. Also a bit too thick, so we had to spoon the dip on the pita instead of actually dip the pita. I ordered the Mushroom Ravioli as my main. The last time I checked, it wasn't listed on their online menu, so I'm not sure if it was just a limited time dish or if the website just isn't updated properly. The ravioli was stuffed with portobello and cremini mushrooms and served in a pesto and parmesan cream sauce with spinach, crumbled goat cheese, crispy onion strings on top. It also came with a side of garlic bread with cheese, which was good, mostly because I love garlic and cheese, but over-toasted and hard - I don't know if that was the intent. The pasta itself was actually quite delicious, but the sauce was a little too salty and even more so when eaten with the goat cheese. I didn't want to make the crispy onion strings soggy by mixing them all in with the pasta, so I mixed a bit in and mostly just picked off the rest to eat by itself :) The pasta was cooked well and the portion was just right for someone with my appetite. The service was OK - our server was nice enough, but the restaurant wasn't super busy and we still had to wave her down a few times because she wasn't checking to see if we needed refills on our waters, if we were done, needed our table cleared, the bill, etc. It was also kind of annoying to be seated at the higher bar tables right by the door - the hostess seemed miserable and we kept seeing staff just standing around talking or texting. I would come back for dessert, since I hear it's the best thing to get, and possibly a drink or two on a day of the week with a special of some kind. Everything is average priced, so it's completely affordable, especially if you're sharing plates. I wasn't overly impressed, but I didn't expect to be. All in all, OK, but not great. read more

Our first visit back since this location was remodelled. We walked in after 10 pm on a Saturday night for a late dinner. The first thing we noticed was that the dining area was opened up, and now the bar is in clear view. The music playing was quite loud, but I guess this was for party-hangout atmosphere! One thing I will say was that the DJ was awesome! He came around to the tables and asked if we had any requests. I requested a song and he played it within 10 minutes! W started with drinks, my husband got an ice tea, and I got a virgin peach margarita. I was very happy to find that they had virgin cocktails listed in their drink menu. Its a big plus for those of us who can't drink alcohol. And yes, the margarita was delicious! Not too sweet, which I find is a good thing. The food has been kicked up a couple notches! We started with the spinach dip, which is still as yummy as ever! For our mains, my husband has the peppercorn burger, which he was very happy with, and I had the chicken fingers, which were served with Buffalo sauce, sweet and spicy Thai sauce, and the apple BBQ sauce. The food was an absolute delight! Everything tastes so fresh! The service was great too. Our server (Chelsea, I believe) was awesome. Very sociable and she was quick to answer any questions I had about the menu. Great job, Kelsey's! We will be back! read more

Kelsey's has change their restaurant to be the 'place to be' in Barrhaven. This the second time I have been here and it has been a good experience. Good atmosphere for someone between 19 to 40 years old. Not really for kids. Alcohol selections awesome! Service very quick and food way better than last time I ate a few years ago. I am giving this 3 stars because I am really torn. On the plus side, the food has improved after the rebrand. The food is more upscale and they have some delicious options. I had the chicken fingers with various dipping sauces, and it was very good. They aren't your kids chicken fingers for sure. Now the downside: the building is hideous. It's absolutely an eye-sore. It's hard to even tell it's a Kelsey's since the big signs say PATIO and HELLO. Whoever designed this should get the boot. In addition, the interior is not pleasant and the way they designed it, the sound bounces off every wall and it's very very noisy inside. Very hard to have a conversation. I'd suggest getting take out and save yourself the eyesore. read more

I went to Kelsey's today for lunch. My niece found a hair on her salad - I'm guessing the kitchen employs a bearded person. I had the hamburger although it took me several bites to reach the meat - the patty was pitifully small and over-cooked. We'll not be making a return visit. read more

I've been here many times over the past few months and have decided that it is definitely a five star "chain location". The food is consistently well delivered, the staff is really friendly and the location is well kept. They are also very involved in the local community which I find a differentiating factor for a chain. The beer selection is quite good for the area the wonton nachos pair very well with any of them. Some will be put off by the exterior but I would propose that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover... This seems to be a well managed location with staff that care about the local community, the annual CHEO BBQ speaks to that. read more

Kelsey's has a great menu- from one visit to another, we can choose between new items or reliable favourites. Sometimes we just go for the appetisers, so delicious and offered in generous servings. The stuffed museums, potato skins and buffalo shrimp are great food for sharing laughs and drinks. And you can't go wrong with the burgers, crab cakes or Kelsey's sirloin wraps. The service always friendly, but often scattered, so we tend to come when we have time to spare. One reviewer comments that seating near the bar gets better service. Worth a try! read more

Kelsey's had recently revamped their menu right before they remodelled and we loved it! Went back after the remodel and was hugely disappointed...used to have a nice fireplace when you first came in with a great bar area as well as a separate dining room. They tore down all of the walls and now just have a bedraggled looking bar sitting in the middle of the restaurant. The food was expensive and not very appetizing, and to top it all off our bill came paper clipped to a piece of cork board! I love pub food - in my opinion Kelsey's is trying to be a pub while selling overpriced fancy named food. If you're going to be a sports bar, serve fried zucchini, regular burgers etc. it's unfortunate because we used to go to Kelsey's all the time, now I don't think I will be back. read more

Never again! UGH I don't know where to begin. We ordered a spinish dip to start and are drink orders were taken. We receive our drinks but no straws, no biggie, and we finally get straws about 10min later. Ask about our swinish dip, and he says "yup, it'll be right out". We then proceed to order. Waiter comes back again to see if we need refills(this is about 20min after taking our food order, and 30-40min after taking our first drink order and starter order, and still no swinish dip) We tell him we would all just like a water and ask again about the spinach dip. He goes to check and comes back another 10min later to say it will be out shortly...but no waters? So our food comes finally(not the spinach dip tho), I had specifically asked for no red or green peppers(allergic) and low and behold my meal is overloaded with red and green peppers. Waiter says "oh just push them off, its all good" But we had already told him I'M ALLERGIC. Husbands food was bland(we shared his meal), oh and did I mention, still no waters or spinach dip? So hubby goes to bathroom, urinals are overflowing! He decided to hold it since we just wanted to get out of there. Finally flagged down the waiter for the bill, and they charged us for the spinach dip that we never decided and my meal that i could not eat, and double charged us for our drinks when we each only had 1 drink, and never even got our waters. It took 10min of talking to the waiter and he removed the double charge, my meal, and the spinach dip. No apologies, nothing from anyone. We left and will never return again. read more

Manager was present. There were many young female staff who were pleasant but attired in skin tight pants inappropriate for their age. Restaurant had MANY infants and toddlers present throughout the dining area. Server was very pleasant but kind winks and nods tried to steer us from disappointing menu choices. Nevertheless burger was terrible which inexplicably was split into two patties of much smaller diameters. This led to over cooked beef and a tall burger that went past awkward to eat. Rings were recommended over fries but I would never reorder. Judging from surrounding patrons deep fried foods may have been a safer bet. Kitchen could not manage a steak and sides arrived incorrectly. The vegetables appeared frozen then boiled and were left untouched by my guest. SO to management,... drop the super tight pants, get in the kitchen and work on fresh satisfying products. Also I would not return for pub grub if the place is over-run with infants and toddlers. I was left with a sitter or the family went to kid friendly( McDonalds) restaurant when we as children were young there is no way we would have attended a pub as infants and toddlers. read more

Went for an early dinner before a movie. Food was ok but not excellent. Waitress was very friendly and polite. She even informed me that I could purchase the movie tickets there and save some money.. The reason I give only 3 stars is the restaurant was not very clean. The glass ledge panel by the booths was dirty, you can see ton of hand prints. The booth, seat, floor wasn't the cleanest and the women's bathroom was gross, and it wasn't busy either, so no reason to be unsanitary! I don't think I would go back, Ramsey always says if the restroom is dirty so is the kitchen! read more
