This was my first time in Canada and we just randomly searched up this restaurant and did not regret it at all. This was some of the best bbq we've had and we definitely want to come back. The restaurant itself had like a western/ lodge theme which was comfortable to be in. Our server Courtney was amazing and made sure to check up on us and make sure I was good because of my allergies. The food itself was good. I was not expecting the ribs to be fall off the bone since they usually aren't back home. I wanted to sit there all day to eat the all you can eat ribs. The steak was probably one of the best restaurant steaks I've had in a while as well. The drinks were really good but not too strong. I would give this a 3.8 out of 5 stars. The server Cory that we had was extremely friendly, helpful, and very quick with getting everything that we asked for. I had the chicken tenders with seasoned fries. The fries were done well and with enough seasoning so that they were well balanced. The seasoning isn't just salt and I really enjoy that since it didn't taste too salty. The chicken breading was very slightly seasoned and I would preferred if it was seasoned a bit more. The chicken itself was moist and tender. The plum sauce was average but had a good balance to it. The prices are not expensive but not cheap and I feel appropriate for the service and quality of the food. The design concept of the restaurant is unique but cozy. The exception are the tablecloths which are very early 2000s and I think out of place in 2022. The paper on the table makes sense for children and gives it a family vibe. However I don't think the paper and table cloth are necessary. Final remarks: a decent place for a family meal or something to eat with friends. read more

Family gathering for dinner. First the positive- the burger was good but. Now the negatives: ribs were overcooked- like shoe leather with very little meat on the bones. I generally enjoy Montanas for what it is, chain style steaks, burgers, ribs. But my experience yesterday wasn't that great. There were only 2 other tables in the restaurant and our server was beyond frazzled. She was incredibly friendly, but seemed to be overwhelmed and incredibly forgetful. My steak was requested to be rare, it was at best medium rare, which I expected because they always overcook the steak. But it was also barely warm when it came to my table, the onion rings were soggy but my baked potato was good. My friend said that her brisket sandwich was good but required more sauce, easy fix. The flavour was good for my steak it just would have been better if it was hot. It was pretty quiet when we were there which was nice, I don't think our waitress would have handled a large crowd well. This doesn't generally speak to the experience at this location, and if I eat here again I'll update, but so far they stay at 3 stars for me. read more

Venue was not busy, but sole bartender (balding white male, aged about 40 - 45, about 6 feet tall) preferred to serve later-arriving white customers first. Not an honest mistake, and he made no apology and then further insulted non-white diner. Montana's ignored formal complaint for 3 months. The chicken was partially burnt and the dish was kinda bland other than that; I don't know I was expecting a lot more from an item called a "taco bowl". Good - not great. They've got the old rustic log cabin decor going on. Nice, but I had a big moose head staring at me throughout my meal that I wasn't keen on. One thing they've got going for them is that they've got a massive menu with loads of choices. My friend had the veggie burger and swears it's the best in town. Our table also had the chicken penne that was also good. Myself, I didn't fare so well. I had the lunch trio special. A great deal I thought. Soup, salad, a small sandwich and a cookie to go. The soup and salad were ok but the accompanying sandwich (a club wrap) was not. Soggy from too much ranch dressing, wilted lettuce, little bits of chicken and the bacon was practically non existent. So if you do go for the trio, I suggest you go for the other option for the sandwich. Our waitress was nice and the service was great. This place is fine. A lot of people even like it. To me, it's just another big chain that provides adequate food at elevated prices and survives on lifestyle branding to bring people in. Oh, that sounded so cynical. I don't even remember why we went here - we tend to go to one-off restaurants. I'm sure we had a reason (i.e. proximity to the movie theatre). Maybe it was just so we could say we'd given it a chance. The food was fine, non-descript. The décor was big-brand style (lots of wood, country flavour). Service was standard, nothing of note. Would I recommend: It's not that I don't think that people should go there, but for me, personally, it's not a place I'd recommend. Would I return: Unlikely. If someone else absolutely loved it, and wanted to meet there ... I'd be ok with it. read more

Checked out Montana's on a Friday night at 7pm. Our group waited 40 minutes for a table; like most of the others customers that showed up for dinner at this time. Their waiting area is very small, and it was filled up with customers. It was frustrating because I did not know where to stand, and there were customers constantly coming and going. I ended up posting myself between the doors of the entrance. It was freezing. If you know the layout of this location you would feel bad for some of the customers trying to eat their dinner. Some customers that were waiting were literally standing next to tables, hoovering over patrons. Again, because the place was packed and the waiting area was filled. Once being seated we ordered drinks and spinach dip. We were so hungry that the spinach dip tasted like the best thing we ever ate. I'm sure it was microwaved because the bowl was pipping hot. It was good though. The entrees took a bit longer to come out. A house salad with chicken, veggie fajitas, goat cheese pasta and ribs were ordered. There not a whole lot of options for vegetarians here, since it is a roadhouse restaurant. But the veggie burger looked delicious, and I regret not getting it. The goat cheese pasta was amazing, and I am not a goat cheese lover. It had ambite, and it was scrumptious. The fajitas were....meh. You get about 5 tortillas per tray, and they are pretty small. I ate about five, and was still not full. It would have been nice if it came with rice or beans at least, and a big bottle of hot sauce! ;) If you are used to eating at Mexican cuisines, then stay far away from the fajitas!!! For dessert the mini donuts were shared and that was the highlight of my night. Warm, deep fried donuts with caramel dipping sauce. So good! Our server was a sweetheart and was attentive. I know I keep saying this but I think that I am going to give the Cara chains a break for now, especially this location. Not my favorite! Tip:: If you want to miss the dinner crowd, show up at least after 7:30pm. They wait times are cut to 0-15 minutes. read more

We stopped by for a late lunch (2:45pm). We were seated immediately and drinks were served quickly. We had a very pleasant waitress and our appetizers were served quickly (tomato and basil soup- delicious!). The rest of our food was served about 30 minutes after ordering and it was very good. Only complaint was that the steak was not good quality. We even ordered dessert afterwards (skillet cookie and half-a-mile high mud pie) and they were also very good. I would come back! read more

Just received food order delivered by Uber Eats..... The food, in one word..... DISGUSTING!! The beef nachos looked like my dog just barfed. Everything was cold, tasteless and just plain cheap. I will never order or eat at Montana's Merivale Road again. I've been in this world a very long time and this was, by far, the worst food I've ever, ever tasted. I was actually quite disappointed with this location. A friend and I came here after work to sit and talk over a few appetizers during the summer. The only good thing about this place was the service - our waitress was really sweet, remembered our orders, and brought us our food very quickly. It's just too bad that the food was less than mediocre. We had their chicken quesadillas and spinach dip. The quesadillas has no flavor whatsoever, and there was hardly any filling, either. The spinach dip was greasy and just tasted like mayo. We were really surprised, since we had been to other Montana's locations before, and the food was never an issue. It also didn't help that there were tons of flies and huge bugs flying around the whole restaurant. A few of them kept coming around our food and one of them even flew straight into my friend's head! It was funny at the time, but not exactly great for our appetites. The doors were left open, so the flies kept coming in, and it was fairly cold outside, so we were pretty chilly the whole time we were there. We tried to finish our appetizers, but couldn't. We left hungry and freezing, and we were happy to have seen each other, but not so happy with our choice of restaurant. read more

I have to say that the more I go to Montana's, the more I don't want to goto any other place in its category. My experiences with this location have been favourable over the handful of times that we've been here. The staff seem to sense when you need something, or when's a good time to clear the table, something I have found to be lacking at other places. I personally like the Firecracker Burger, and the last time their Pot Roast Soup tasted exactly as how it sounds like it would read more

Same fare as other locations but this one probably has one of my favourite (without a view) patios I can think of. It's spacious (the patio) unlike most which seem quite cramped. I also love that they are a stone throw from the cineplex which works out great with Montana's being part of the Scene card program. Great place to start or end (or both) a night out at the movies. read more

Pros: Great food, good price. Service was awesome (Angie). Food arrives pretty quick. Desserts are good also. Love the fact that they had a "taste everything" plate, and 2.99$ desserts. Cons: Not enough room between our table and the others, as servers kept hitting my chair when they walk by (and I wasn' t that much "out"). Came to Montana's starving with my boyfriend, after we had seen a movie on Friday evening. We were greeted by a very kind waitress. She was very charismatic, and helpful. Loved the service! Since my boyfriend had decided to look at the menu very thoroughly, we ordered drinks in the meanwhile. He had selected a nice beer in a Montana's boot - style cup for around $8. 00. It was very cute! I had gotten the southern lemonade for $6.50. My boyfriend's drink came back very quickly, but mine had taken quite a while to arrive, and it came back as the wrong drink, (I'm assuming it was the smoked peach lemonade, as it tasted peachy). It tasted decent, so it wasn't a big deal personally. Besides that, we had settled on selecting our entree meals. I ordered the Rib N' Sausage combo, for $26.00 dollars, and my boyfriend selected the Chipotle Firecracker burger for $15.00. The meals came back fairly quickly, and we were suprised by the portion size of my ribs dish. It was pretty small for a $26.00 dollar meal. The ribs had a great sauce, but they weren't fall-off-the-bone tender, and I had to do some tugging at the meat with my teeth to get it off. I had made a comment to my boyfriend saying that our home-made ribs were better, as we are on the hunt to find a place that makes ribs better than our home-made ribs. A man dressed in a simple dress shirt with a stern look on his face, abruptly interrupted the convo between my boyfriend and I, and demanded to know why I made that comment and if I make ribs myself. I replied that my dry rub was very special, and he had said that Montana's uses a combination of dry rub and sauce, (obviously). I said it was very good, (in an uncomfortable manner). He had left, and my boyfriend and I had realized that he was the manager/owner of the restaurant. We felt very uncomfortable due to his eavesdropping of our conversation, his rude tone, and his intimidating manner. Despite that occurance, I thought the meal was decent. There was one sausage placed on the plate beside the ribs, and it was great in flavour. The dish also came with small sides of mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and a small square of cornbread, (though they were very delicious). I finished my meal fairly quickly and was still hungry. I remember the portion size of the same meal being bigger the last time I had come to Montana's (a year ago). Though, it might have been due to the location. My boyfriend's burger came back with a nice M branded on the bun, which I personally thought was a unique touch! I had a bite of his burger, and it was very delicious! The fried Chipotle peppers on the burger were delicious, and loved the fried onions on there as well! Definately regretted not ordering the burger instead. I love the Montana's in Kanata Centrum, from the previous times that I had visited the restaurant. I went last week with my friends as we select a restaurant every now and then to set and enjoy the food. I ordered medium rare but it came as well done. Other orders were the correct ones. When I asked for my stake to be the correct one they immediately called the manager and he gave me a new one on the house. I ate out twice this week at Montana's on what was both a busy weekend and a quiet Monday evening. Both times I was really impressed by the friendly and fast service, as a seat at the bar gets you fed and watered as quickly as you could want. The food itself was generous and fresh, although the chicken wings were smothered in a little too much sauce for my taste. This use to be a weekly stop for us and the kids, but it has had a steady decline for the past 3 or 4 years. The last order of antijito's (July/11) ended up in the garbage they were so bad. The service is pretty good and they still have okay chicken wings but the prices have continued to climb as the food quality has gone down. They use to make things fresh but apparently everything comes in pre-made now and it's quality continues to decline.
