This is a classic and outstanding mom and pop local restaurant. OK, so it may not technically be a "mom and pop", but you know what I mean.

Ken & Dale's is a family dining experience with tvs and a bar. Our server was pleasant and diligent- especially with our big party. I ordered the pork chops and my sister got the broasted chicken dinner... this way we could split. Each came with two sides so we each got a baked potato and salad. The side salad was good with the house dressing- similar to French. While my sister's baked potato was good, mine wasn't cooked through. Another sister was able to get a loaded potato which, when seeing it, those of us at our end of the table were bummed we didn't know that was an option. The pork chops were so thin, they placed pieces of toast between them to make them appear taller. They were tender but also flavorless. The broasted chicken was actually fried. The flavor was great though. My other family members enjoyed their food. And again the service was great so I'm giving it 4/5. read more

After visiting Carhenge, stopped midday around 3pm for lunch. Pepperoni Pizza and chicken with broccoli calzone. Crust was very tasty and good toppings/fillings too. Not very busy and food came out with only a little bit of a wait. read more

So if you find yourself in Alliance Nebraska visiting Carhenge and need to grab a bite, this is by far the best place to eat in town. True, the service can be hit or miss, but the quality of the food is consistent. I've eaten here many times so can vouch for the following: If you want to splurge go for the rib eye steak, Nebraska beef is famous and this steak is delicious. For sides you can get soup or salad potatoes and vegetables (mushrooms go well with the steak) Breakfast specials have a 2-2-2 special with 2 bacon sausage and eggs plus pancakes. Lunch and dinner favorites are broasted chicken and French dip sandwich. Other local specialties are a chicken fried streak or a roast beef sandwich. Tip- if you have time check out the Knight Museum close by. One of the best museums in the state and you can walk off all those calories read more

Cheeseburger & Fish Sandwich...$40...Fish Sandwich was freezer burnt and rancid tasting..I don't know how long it was in the freezer, but the Health Inspector has obviously skipped this place more than once. Wife took one bite and just about yacked on her plate...Waitress wouldn't even smell the sandwich...It was literally disgusting. Cheeseburger was undercooked & served cold. (the cheese wasn't even melted) Shredded wilted lettuce, wax flavored tomato, onions were at least a week old, the pickle slice was chewy and the Bacon was tough...How do you get tough bacon? I've been going to this Restaurant since it was downtown in the old Elk's Club Basement, (30+ years), and this was seriously some of the WORST FOOD I"VE EVER PAID MONEY FOR..Waitress stood at the front counter complaining that the food quality wasn't "their fault" so She should get tipped anyway..In front of Customers...WTAF?...Owner was hiding in the kitchen and wouldn't come out of it...This Dump needs to go out of business. Our service was great. The servers were close enough we could hear their pleasant conversations with each other. It's nice to hear people enjoying their job and each other. The food came out so quickly, and it was sooooo good. The 1/2 broasted chicken fed us both and the mashed potatoes are like we make at home. It was a perfect stop. Best Turkey Club I have ever had in my very long life. The fries were good too, but the sandwich was to rave about. I went back the next morning for breakfast and had a very nice omlette, I highly recommend this place when you are in town visiting Carhenge. The service was wonderful and I loved the late 60s and early 70s rock playlist. read more

This restaurant does nice meats, I can take friends or family or do a date... a group of friends. Its clean and delicious.

This restaurant doesn't look like much on the outside, but inside, it's really nice and clean. The menu selection is great- from salads to Italian to steak- and there's an extensive wine/beer list as well. I ate the Southwestern Cobb Salad and it was delicious. Veggies were very fresh. Staff was friendly and attentive. If you're in Alliance, stop by and enjoy dinner. You will love it! read more

Started with my little dinner salad with my blue cheese dressing. Very good. The service was so nice !! We shared the soup and the patty melt. Fresh meat and grilled perfectly. Husband and I randomly stopped thanks to the Yelp app. We're traveling to Valentine, NE and got hungry and needed gas anyways so we found a place to eat. Cool, little place! Good menu, full bar, clean bathrooms, and a cool bluesy feel to the decor. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful. We chatted with her for a few minutes about traveling through NE. Wish I remembered her name. I got a turkey croissant and friend mac n' cheese. It was AWESOME! I rarely finish my whole plate, but I did this afternoon. Husband did eat a little of my mac. He got a club and regular fries. The only thing he said he would have liked a little different was the fries. They could have been cooked maybe 20-30sec more. Some were a little flimsy but after putting some seasoning on them, they were good. This place has some of the best ranch I've ever had. Food came SO quick and was exact to our order. Price wasn't bad either. Hubs got a beer and I just had water, and our bill was under $30. If I ever come through Alliance again I'll probably stop here because I know I'll get a good meal. read more

What a pleasant find in a small, isolated western Nebraska town. My wife and I both had broasted chicken and it was very tasty and cooked just right. Plenty of good crunch. The sauteed zucchini was way better than the limp vegetable side you often find at restaurants, and, like the chicken, was obviously prepared fresh for us. The atmosphere was good, too. Clean, comfortable, with multiple TVs showing the Olympics. Our waitress was so nice and friendly, and the service was extremely good. Only the green salad was disappointing. It wasn't really green, and had no discernible flavor. Besides that, this place is great. Highly recommend if you're ever in Alliance. read more

Nebraska is the 8th state we have visited on this road trip. We have stopped at many diner/restaurants serving "Traditional American " fare along the way. Ken & Dale's is by far the best. This is the 5 star rating I've written in 2 weeks. All of our food was fresh, not frozen. The fries and mashed potatoes were real potatoes. The gravy was homemade perfection. The service is prompt, courteous and friendly. I had broasted chicken strips, delicious, perfectly cooked and tender. My friends' country fried steak was a steak, hand breaded and fried to perfection. Definitely eat here if you are traveling through Alliance, NB. read more
