I ordered the 2 enchiladas with the tamale, the tamale was completely inedible and hard/crunchy. Also my chicken in my enchiladas was so dry. The first thing to be said here is that this restaurant appears to be extremely popular with the local community. Therefore, since seating is relatively limited, you might experience a wait at peak hours. The menus, both lunch and dinner, are vast, and include vegetarian options and even burgers and chicken strips alongside traditional Tex-Mex fare. One really attractive feature is that you can order the usual combinations in small and medium sized plates as well as full platters. We went small, with an enchilada and taco plate, and a chile relleno and taco plate. Everything was top-notch, but especially the chile relleno. The chili was exploding with flavor; I can't remember ever eating one that was this good. And did I mention that the margarita was also very good ... smooth, but not too sweet? I had the best chili Relleno here and actually every thing we got was fantastic. Our waiter was great, wish I could remember his name but I can't. He was funny and polite. We loved everything from the chips and super fresh house made salsa. If u go there get the chili Relleno with cheese dip on it. Yum Yum. While going through Alliance we had a hankering for Mexican food. All of us ordered the enchilada dinners. I had a chicken, a shredded beef, & a cheese. I requested green sauce on half & red on the other half, & I asked for the enchiladas to be in corn tortillas. While waiting chips & salsa arrived. The chips were a little stale but the salsa was very flavorful with a tiny bit of spice. The enchiladas arrived & were excellent. The chicken was all white meat & the 2 sauces were both packed with flavor. The red was very mild & average. The green had a bit more heat to it & was popping with the flavors I was yearning for. The shredded beef was exceptionally good quality meat with no fat & waste. The cheese enchilada was merely average. Overall though it was a very satisfying dinner experience. read more

We stopped in at this quaint Mexican restaurant on our way from Mt Rushmore back to Denver. Service was quick and accurate. We were seated immediately and offered complimentary chips and salsa while we waited on our food. I had the Tacos al Carbon and SO had the street tacos. Both were very good. I was leery, cause I'm from Texas and my rule has been--if it ain't a border state, you're taking chances. But my friend had a real hankering for Mexican so I figured, well, the nachos should at least be ok. This place had a LOT of choices; my friend decided to try the sampler (cheese enchilada, tamale, beef enchilada, I think) and I decided to try one of their specialties, the Navajo Taco. Mine was tasty (could ease up just a tad on the refried beans, though) and the salsa verde was the real deal. My friend cleaned his plate, so I'm taking that as a good sign, too. Ok, for the record I'm a tough customer when it comes to Mexican food. I was truly pleased with the food. Actually pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed my "Navajo Chicken " tender, good portions and lots of flavor. My father-in-law had two enchiladas and burrito that he loved. My wife had (spelling is most likely wrong) toquitos and she loved them. Also the salsa was well flavored with a great bit. Almost too hot for this gringo. Stopped in here today for lunch on our way to Carhenge. As soon as we walked in the door we were politely greeted and taken to our table. In a minute or two our server appeared and he was very personable and seemed interested to find out a little about us. Really nice guy! The chips and salsa were good although I would have liked to see some more cilantro in it. I won't take away any stars for that! The food arrived shortly and it was as good Tex Mex as you'll find anywhere. All fresh ingredients properly prepared and presented. We had a very good dining experience here and would recommend this place to our fellow Yelpers. One funny note.
