I cried as Kellie brought him in & the door closed. Well any &all separation anxiety I had was quickly dismissed! Giuseppe love Dr. Pope &her entire staff, as did we! They took a ton of pictures to show us how he was during his exam & treatment! He fell asleep during his acupuncture treatment. I suppose Dr. Pope is as good as other reviewers suggest. But she fails in allowing her rude and inept staff to be her gatekeeper. My dog ran out of supplements that Pope recommended and her staff initially ordered for us. Now they are forcing us to go order through their website. There are different doses and delivery modes for these items, with widely varying prices. The staff never specified what those were, and the prior order information was unavailable at the website. I emailed them about this situation and got a snotty reply that did not provide those details. I wrote them again asking for details. As of this writing, a day has passed and still no response. And my dog still has no supplements. There is no direct way to email Dr. Pope; you have to communicate with her staff, which is useless. For this reason alone, I do not recommend her. There are other homeopathic veterinarians who, hopefully, have a greater sense of accountability to their clients and patients. read more

Major disappointment to say the least. Reading and researching Dr. Pope the main thing that stood out was 'compassionate care'. Well our baby Frenchie, six years and a great boy has lymphoma. it was with optimism that we had his records sent over to Prism, and waited eagerly for the appointment two weeks later. The visit did not go well, the Dr. who presided over the appointment was NOT an oncologist, the records that were pre-sent were not previewed as the Dr. did not have a prognosis. The Dr. did not touch the dog, did not look at him, and muddled thru a pre-scripted pyramid. It was like a marketing seminar, void of concern, and I will not venture to mention other details of the three and half hours spent there. The amount of money was ill spent, but this is not really about the money, this is about opening a business based on your accomplishments, and what your represent is not present. Dr. Pope and her Team are truly amazing! Samson was 13 when he was diagnosed with Lymphoma & I'm happy to report that due to the all the TLC he gets from Dr Pope & her Team as well as all Dr Pope's supplements, Samson is now 15 & doing amazing. Thanks to Dr Pope, he is still very playful, loving & a happy little guy. Just as many other parents do, I travel 45 minutes to see Dr. Pope & it is worth every minute of the ride. i want to go on record and say that i am thoroughly disappointed and disgusted that dr. kendra pope would charge this exorbitant fee for her pet cancer prevention course. if she was any kind of caring, holistic, compassionate veterinarian this course would be free to all dog owners. i think it is disgraceful and i would never subscribe to anything she had anything to do with. many people, like myself, who are senior citizens, on a low fixed income, and have anough expenses just feeding and caring for their pets, and then to be faced with a potentially catastrohpic illness, coupled with many other senior factors thrown in....such as high cost organic human grade food, flea protections, grooming, etc etc,....well it is immoral, uncaring as a professional so-called healer, very very bad, i would never trust her or her staff with the care of any pets i have. read more

This is not a case of the cat dying before the report was done. The report was done on a Thursday (1 week late) but they didn't tell me until after 730pm Friday night, requiring the remainder of the payment of $300. I paid immediately and they still didn't send the report. Saturday they still didn't send the report. Naturally I was calling and leaving messages and writing and begging them for the report. Sunday the same. Monday the same. I took the dying cat to be put down on Monday and he wasn't ready to die and they still didn't send the report. Tuesday they still didn't send the report. Wednesday he finally died. Still no report. They refunded the payment from Friday night but they wont refund the $150 deposit. Do not trust these people. read more

Dr. Pope was terrific. We drove 4 1/2 hours to see her and it was worth the long drive. We loved that she came into the exam room and sat on the floor with Charlie and instantly relaxed him. She is super knowledgeable and really explains all the pros and cons to various therapies. Her staff were all super nice and helpful. I am so grateful for Dr. Pope and her team. My dog is almost 6 years old and has struggled with a compromised immune system and allergies for several years. He's been to so many vets who just didn't understand his recurring problems and just kept throwing antibiotics at him. I didn't even know if Dr. Pope would see him because he (thankfully) does not have cancer and she was happy to take him on as a patient...that was about 6 months ago and he's never been better! His energy is up, his appetite has increased and his skin (where the majority of his problems lie) is finally showing sustainable improvement and his daily regimen is not only manageable, but it is boosting his immune system as well! Dr. Pope is the most attuned and compassionate vet we've ever come across...we've been to plenty and have met a couple of special one's but none have been this interested and curious about his symptoms, how to increase his wellness and the overall quality of his life, and how to meet MY needs as his parent -which, all of these combined, increase the overall quality of our entire family's life. When you're scared and /or frustrated because of your pet's (ie, furry child's) problem(s) or diagnosis, all you really want is a warm person - someone who you feel and believe truly cares, someone who knows what she is doing and someone who can break it down in a direct and thoughtful way to help ease your questions and concerns...this is who Dr. Pope and her team have consistently show us who they are...time and again. We waited for almost 3 hours while our dog sat shaking and shivering on the floor. The Vet took 3 phone calls while we remained sitting in her office. She spent a total of 16 minutes discussing our dog's issues... most which we already knew. Finally, her assistant came in while another 4th call was taken. We were handed a generic nutrition chart. My wife was referred to Dr. Pope by her veterinarian. Even though we have to drive 5 hours to see her, we were satisfied with the service, compassion and level of care the doctor and her technicians provide- her office is thoughtfully furnished and provides a relaxing environment for both the pet and its owner. However, two things are the result of the 2 star review...it is her receptionist, "Mary Ellen"...upon entering the office for the first time, (there is a hallway/waiting area prior to entering the receptionist's desk, while in there, we heard "Mary Ellen" complain and knock another client who,was there earlier (this was not professional or polite to say the least). Mary Ellen also treats people like they are children and frankly, both my wife and I felt this come through while she was talking to us. Furthermore, apparently "Mary Ellen" doesn't like to answer emails, (perhaps she isn't computer literate) not only is she curt, condescending and snippy with leaving phone messages, but even an automated reply email message from the office states that "this email will no longer be used for patient correspondence" and that calling the office will result in one's request handled in a "timely and complete fashion". Really??? In 2019??? A quick question can't be answered in a quick email but rather in a lengthy phone call??? Is this 1989 or 2019??? One can only assume that it is of "Mary Ellen's" doing, not the doctor, (as the doctor seems more amicable to using email (read: she's younger than "Mary Ellen"). We also would have to make a long distance phone call (we live in Virginia) so an email just to ask a dosing question or to make/change an appointment is not only easier, but more economical as we are on a fixed income).. Dr. Pope, if you are reading this, we suggest you have a discussion with "Mary Ellen", since she is the first person a client (or potential client) comes in contact with and frankly, her attitude comes through in her tone of voice and snippy, condescending demeanor. Not to mention the badmouthing of a client which is a complete turn off. (One can not wonder if she bad mouthed my wife an I afterwards?) We are not sure if "Mary Ellen" is just jealous (she is older than Dr. Pope) or just plain rude when dealing with the public. Dr. Pope, as you are trying to build your business and grow your image, having someone such as "Mary Ellen" as the first point of contact in your office is a turn off to clients...people do not want to be treated like children which is just what she is doing...furermore, the no email policy is definitely a wrong move in this day and age. Our lab was diagnosed with a sarcoma on her leg at the university hospital and the course of action was amputation and palliative radiation. We felt because of her age {12} and being overweight this was probably not the best option. We met with Dr Pope and she suggested a course of Chinese herbs. Kendra Pope's office is wonderful. Everyone is a dream in the middle of a cancer diagnosis. It's not like going to a vet clinic it's a private, home like, calm environment where everyone really cares and really knows their stuff. Dr. Pope uses both Eastern and Western medicine and is always up to date with treatments. BEST OF ALL. I thought that deciding to try to save my dog would bankrupt me. Not so. The initial consultation is not cheap but nothing compared to other hospitals. After care is extremely affordable and you can use your own vet for tests that are ongoing, saving you money. Dr. Pope has evaluated all my dog's tests each month with no charge. Also she has prescribed our meds elsewhere and makes no money from this. NO WAY this practice is just profiteering. The original consult is more than worth the care you get. They are honest, knowledgeable, healers. Kendra Pope is an amazing, brilliant doctor, and a natural born healer. My dog is alive for $99 per month of meds over a year now. God bless her determination, and caring as well as her amazing staff. read more

I am beginning my first foray into working with Dr Pope and I feel as though they are taking advantage of me. My dog was recently diagnosed with lung cancer with little time to live. Desperate for answers and to help her, I found Dr Pope. In fairness, her staff did get me in sooner given she is so booked. After 1/2 dozen calls with most focusing on Completing the paperwork and giving a $197 deposit (50% of the $400 she charges for the first visit) I was told several times that if I cancelled the appointment later than 3 days prior, I would be charged. I called to confirm appointment which they kept changing which I do understand because they were trying to help. There were 3 changes, including 2 days before - I obliged, switched my 1/2 day off from work again and moved my own appointments around and drove 45 minutes to find the time was wrong. Their solution was to have me wait in the parking lot for 2 hours until she could fit me in. I complied because my dog is dying and I'm desperate. If I don't work, I don't get paid and they really put me in a tough spot with work. Nevertheless I now had to take the entire day off. The cost is astronomical and I didn't learn much for my $400 consultation. Perhaps it is because i only got to speak to Dr Pope over the phone or perhaps she brushed off how she treated me as a person. An additional $150 later for supplements, I still feel I'm being take advantage. Her solution..,, $5 off if I buy more products from her. I will stick with her and the plan because hoping this treatment will work and hoping she doesn't continue to fleece me for more and more money and others who are vulnerable because they care about their pets. read more
